The counter balance isn't so that it returns to the centre. It's so that the camera stays in the position you leave it in. You set the counterbalance so that it maintains the same centre of gravity no matter how far you tilt it. You are setting it higher than needed for the setup you've used, hence having to apply force when tilting which isn't good at all.
I'm comparing a few fast-opening tripods (legs only) as I'm going to get a high-end Miller fluid head. My setup will be around 15lbs. Wondering how stable this is and if its worth buying as an investment, or to get something a tad better... The other potentials; - SCG SteadiFast HD - Sirui SVS75 - Manfrotto 645 Fast
It's not dampering, it's dampening. Carbon fiber makes it way too light. Who wants a light weight tripod? The idea is have as steady a shot as possible. I bought the aluminum alloy leg version. Plus, I have an E Image super heavy duty.
Awesome video, any idea if the Video Fast ball head (not the legs but the head part) can be removed and attached to one of Ulanzi's smaller travel sized tripods? I'd rather save on the bulk weight of the legs and mount the smooth head to the slimmer ones if possible as I'm just using the tripod in my home studio. Look forward to what you think!

Just bought the aluminum one for $340 on Amazon. only 1.1 lbs heavier than CF version which was $600.
Nice review, looking for a cost effective video tripod to go with a Sony NX800 or Z200 and this looks perfect.
@@Kovalser it’s my main video tripod at this point. I’m loving it
This is great! I am looking for another tripod, and this one looks appealing.

Thanks for the review. Do you have any video tests of the smoothness?

Damping, actually, for physical systems.
@@cgrado I stand corrected. I have always heard it pronounced as dampening.

This one would not be able to cause it a totally different kind of mount
You are also using the counterbalance setting completely wrong. This should be noted!
Is this tripod compatible with the Smallrig 3158b QR plate ?
Very cool looking tripod for pro setups at a good cost…ya just buy the carbon fiber lol 😆
you have funnyli cut out the part when you need to lock the latches :)
