I read a few of the comments and you stated that sometimes when you look at it you reflect on the hours and days you labored to acquire that amzing store of value. I do the same but next time you look at that very bar think about the amount of earth that was moved to creat such a small item, the man hours others put into that small bar, and the years of innovation through human history! It is amazing holding something in your hands that had such an impact on human history.

Don't want to alarm you, but you "might" be holding a FAKE. First of all, it does not have the Veriscan logo. Also, the dimensions of that bar don't look right. The PAMP 5 troy ounce bar dimensions should be 60mm x 35mm x 3.86 mm. Furthermore, the weight should compare to either 5.48571 avoirdupois oz. or 155.517 grams. Hope you don't have a FAKE.
Perhaps you should do those checks so that you can put your mind at ease.
@@ComfyBe lol its real apmex buys directly from pamp so nothing to worry. Also pamp makes different varieties of the same weight so nothing to worry about. Veriscan is new and not all there products have it.

The new bars now offer Veriscan, the bars are minted a little different. Now the edges have this cool micro pattern that allows you to verify every edge of the physical bullion for tampering ie: drill and fill, or outright counterfeit bars. The cool thing is the edging really looks cool and it would be impossible to drill and fill without making it obvious to the eye. Unlike ridges this micropattern is way better.
Right now PAMP is the only bars I would purchase because the veriscan feature adds confidence to the trade and makes them highly liquid in the market. No destructive assaying needed.

10oz would be awesome! 5oz is awesome though. I like the idea of having a silver one in the same size to compare against the gold version. I think some of the older fortuna bars have a matte finish? The look nice as well.

Apmex sends most signature required if it's worth over a few hundred bucks, ive ordered from them many times with no issues. Their great I think.

Whats amazing is how small 5 ounce of gold is compared to 5 ounce of silver, its almost half the size. I compared the 5 ounce to the 5 ounce silver and its tiny and so dense. Its super cool to experience. And video does not do justice to the beauty of these PAMP Fortuna bars. They are extremely liquid and in Asia/Middle east sell for high premiums.

trav v what kind of metal? There aren’t many of them more dense than gold. Compared to the normal metals people hold in hand like iron or steel or aluminum, gold is noticeably denser. That’s why everyone has that reaction when they get some in hand especially larger chunks of gold.

I paid $6,272.95 which included the shipping. I also got a big metal container of popcorn from APMEX at Christmas time. I've had a couple orders of similar value but no free popcorn again. I was almost as excited at receiving the unexpected surprise popcorn as the gold bar. Take care.

Dxfilmz Yes this is 24K gold. Where I live I could sell it to a jewelry shop. I would hesitate to do that with a pamp bar as the premium is a little higher. A generic bar would be the best to trade or sell to a jewelry shop.

@@winner.777 I know it's an old post, but I think he was refering to *realizing how much the worth of gold is* in general, not just in price at the moment of writing.
For the most, in 2014 it was pretty much the same as 2019. $1200 - $1300 per OZ. Last couple of months of 2019 the price went up to $1500.
But it isn't just that. :)
The worth of gold is primarily that it turns out to be a good store of value (inflation wise).
If the government keeps printing dollars, the dollar will lose more and more buying power (inflation), meaning you buy less with 1 dollar.
You can't just print gold out of thin air, so the buying power of gold remains more stable / under control over longer periods of time.
This means that if you have inflation (which we have) or hyper inflation (when things get out of hand - like the Venezuela Hyper inflation), the price for gold *in dollar* will shoot up.
You simply need more dollar for the same amount of gold, because the dollar isn't worth as much anymore / has less buying power.
So one could have bought gold for $1000 while decades later you need $10.000 for the same amount of gold. This doesn't mean that your wealth increased 10x.
If the buying power for your gold remained the same, you simply managed to preserve your wealth.
That's why (longterm) it's better to buy some gold, silver, etc (and other less inflatable assets like Bitcoin), rather than holding all your savings (money you don't need for a long period of time) in fiat on the bank.
I believe the yearly inflation rate for the dollar is 2.3%.
If you have $50K on your bank, you lose $1150 per year in actual buying power, because of all the printing of new dollars out of thin air.
Meaning, that $50K (even though it's still displayed as $50K on your bankaccount) isn't worth much anymore after a couple decades.
On the other hand, inflation doesn't affect people who spend all their money every month and is actually fantastic for those who are in dept. :P
