Because of your channel and awesome reviews, I’ve purchased 2 trucks you had to test! I picked up the DEERC H16E for my son who’s 6yrs old! It’s just fast enough on 2s for him to backflip off of trees like his dad’s Kraton 4s v2.5! I’ve also purchased the Rlaarlo AM D12 and I’m loving every bit of it! Thanks for the awesome, entertaining and inspiring videos! Keep up the great work brother! Bash On!
Love this comparison video! It’s like déjà vu from the Terminator vs. the competition videos- 😎 The breakdown of durability, handling, suspension, electronics, tires, and price was super clear and really helpful for anyone considering these two models.
so my brother got a zll beast max from temu, a while ago, on a whim, with no prior research, and i was hooked on rc's, So then I went online and got myself an MJX H14BM having no idea what i was getting into. I immediately noticed the diference in build, materials, the metal parts, etc., then decided to research my purchase which led me to this channel. ever since i keep coming back to educate myself on rc cars build quality and features. All this between december 2024 and now (january 2025) Thanks for your reviews! they help a lot!
I can't even bash my groms with out breaking them . Snapped motor shaft on my typhoon and broke rear axle on my Mojave last time out . Great video man nicely done
🤨 that’s wild. I’ve got 3 Groms and they’re tough as nails. I let family drive them when at family functions etc. I always set up little races. Needless to say, it’s a bad idea to let others run your cars 😆 but the groms have held up great.
Well, I have already made my choice and purchased the X 12 S. Absolutely love it. This video was really good info buddy. So happy to see your channel is killing it! Said it before and I'll say it again best RC channel on UA-cam edit content information and just good old fun. Hats off to you! Keep up the great work, man.👍💥💯
This is an excellent comparison. I think the quick access to parts is a plus for the Typhoon. I think the chassis design which includes the shock tower is a big problem. Owners will get tired of spending over $20 for a chassis. I've seen that with the Tamiya TT01. Tamiya quickly changed that design for TT01E. I am sure there will be a new design at some time. The easy access parts is a big problem for the Rlaarlo. They are both good cars and it's difficult choice. You did great job.
Thanks! Yes both issues. I believe Rlaarlo is working on solutions to get more parts in the US. They already have one or two suppliers on the UK. With the typhon, the rear tower molded with chassis is probably ok. It has a lot of bracing. The front is definitely a nuisance. Thanks!!!
I agree with you on alot of points but from what I've seen in the Rlaarlo Facebook groups the people that are driving these everyday are even blowing out the diff housings that have been updated. Rlaarlo is a decent company but I think the Rog 1/ xt12s platform seemed very rushed. Now I get that Rlaarlo bought this platform from someone else and wasn't developed in house like the terminator and rally car but a little longer testing would have been good. Keep up the awesome vids brother, love the channel.
Thanks for comparing these two.I have the Rlaarlo Omni Terminator CF and absolutely love it for the price. So my next buy was going to be a buggy and was trying to decide between these two.Im not sure if you helped me make my decision but now I know the good and bad of both.So thanks and keep up the good work!!!
The XTS is amazing while the new Rlaarlo buggy is just horrible looking, looks so cheap, got horrible bodyshell and wheels. The Arrma Typhon Grom BLX is an absolute weapon, such an amazing little car, far superior to the Rlaarlo buggy
I have both the brushed version and brushless version of the Typhon Grom. I'm trying to sell the brushed version but I had to switch out their bodies and keep the brushed version's because I absolutely love the red and white color scheme on it. These little cars are so much fun!
Awesome breakdown man! I have been absolutely in love with my Rlaarlo ROG1 Gladiator, so if I was in the market for a buggy, I'd probably stick with Rlaarlo. I like the higher powered ESC, and that it comes with a 3S right outta the box. Having said all that, the Arrma is still a super solid choice. I like the smaller scale, because that's kinda my thing, and it's still super capable and competitive. The lower price point of the Rlaarlo probably tips it over the edge in my book. BTW, you should totally keep the nonsensical ramblings in next time! 😂
Thanks! Ya it’s a good platform! They’re both so good! I agree too the 3s battery being included at a better price is huge. Can’t wait to see their next new releases! Haha! Maybe I will 😂
Took my x12s out for the first time and bashed it pretty good. I did the longer screw / nut upgrade on both the front and back shock towers. The upgrade worked great, however after quite a few rough landings I did shear the 3m screw that holds the top of a shock to the front shock tower sheared off. Overall very impressive
I have the brushed version of the typhon grom as I jumped in feet first when They first came out but saying that I was able to immediately convert to brushless with a spektrum 30 amp brushless esc and a 4500kv motor giving me 62 mph. Upgraded all the axles, diffs etc to make it bulletproof but all said and done i have around 600 bux into a grom but that really is par for the course with this hobby.
As soon as Rlaarlo has fixed the diff cover issue it is for sure the X12S (I have one) but if one just wants to bash without modifying the rig go for the Arrma.
I have the Typhon, just the regular version, I love it! I'll probably put a brushless system in it at some point, maybe for the summer... The R-Laarlo is pretty cool, but for 12th scale I already got my mind set on an LC Racing, not sure when I get me that one either, he he... But for now, good UA-cam content to watch, as always from you!
X12s!!! But it is my first rc and definitely lovin it and cant really find other buggies that i like yet. So prolly sticking to x12s, just hoping for better parts soon id say
Awesome! Thanks for doing this comparison. I tried contacting Rlaarlo about the weakness in the rear diff housing, and whether they have fixed this issue or not... but they never got back to me. I have heard that they did fix this... but that's just rumor. Can you speak to that?
From what it seems like, they fixed it with a more flexible plastic for the diff housing, and slightly longer screws that mount it. That’s going to help but I still feel I would take it further with the even longer screws and nuts or the bracing.
I have the brushed Mojave Grom (I'll be all over the brushless Kraton Grom, if it ever comes out), and don't have any buggies so right now, if I was buying, I'd get the RLAARLO. Thanks for the vid!
I went with the x12s, cuz I'm an rlaarlo fanboy, but also what you get for $170. Also rear brake was not a big deal for me. Run, brake, make it better, repete. Derby on man!!!
I was kinda on the fence with these two until yesterday when I put buggy tires on my am d12 and was super impressed with how it did on my back yard track. This new rlarrlo buggy should handle a little better than that so I'm sold... mind made up. But it doesn't mean that I won't get them both if possible 👍
Awesome buggies! I have a question for ya. I've got the 10208 V2 and I was wondering if the Granite shocks would work on it like the V1 you have?? Thanks in advance!
Thanks! I haven’t tried it. I believe they would fit but it’s possible they would make the arms over extend. For the v1 the shocks were too short, but for the v2 they changed the geometry of the shock towers to where the shorter shocks make it work well. Would be interesting to see!
I had the OG AM-X12 so I stuck with the “matching” AM-X12S but then went with the Mojave Grom. It was the size and the that made the decision for me mostly vs the Typhon, can just handle grass etc a little bit better. No one else makes anything like the Mojave and the details are just amazing.
I have both of these and my opinions line up with yours. I love the x12s but I already snapped a rear diff housing. I think if you're looking for a ground pounder the rlaarlo is an absolute steal. If rlaarlo comes out with full aluminum diff housings however then it's a completely different story. It would be a great basher.
My only "concern" is that for less than half that cost you can get a brushless pro 1\16 hbx 16890 (same size as the arrma) and out of the box already fast (around 30mph) and with a 25eur ESC capable of 3s and around 40mph which you can even increase with a modified motor mount and 16t pinion or higher kv motor (stock is around 3800kv). As owner of both versions of hbx 1\16 (brushed converted to brushless and brushless pro) i can't find any reason to buy this new arrma, appart from the good looking mini mojave.
TBH, Arrma no contest. I'd rather have a little basher buggy I can get parts for at the shop 30 mins away rather than the parts I'm gonna have to wait for on a ship from china 30+ days for. Rlaarlo are cool but like with any car- real or toy- the car is only worth what you pay for it in the fuel, parts and service.
Rlaarlo chassis bends to easy. Arrma takes the W simply because of that. My AM D12 needs a new chassis from simply jumping a half foot ramp. I drive it on 3s and at 50 percent power and it still bent the chassis. I can run my mojave grom blx and it handles everything plus some.
I was pretty hard on my AMD12 and didn’t bend it. But with that said, this is a completely different platform. Much more bracing on the chassis and completely redesigned even aside from that. It’s crazy some people are commenting their groms break constantly. So weird how people have such opposite experiences with almost any car lol
Neither! The buggies have too many exposed parts to break. Wing, no front bumper, and shock towers! Same platform is the Mojave with those things and protection. ROG1 same platform but better build as well. Only issue it had was the cvd weakness which was replaced on production run 2. So I choose neither.

I love em both for different reasons, so I guess I need both! Great comparison and video! Nice heater, too!
Definitely both! Lol thanks! She keeps it at a steady and toasty 45° 😂

Super cool! Super glad I can help! 😊
I can't even bash my groms with out breaking them . Snapped motor shaft on my typhoon and broke rear axle on my Mojave last time out . Great video man nicely done
Ouch 🤕. It’s so crazy how some people have the best and some have the worst luck with almost any RC car. I appreciate that bro!
🤨 that’s wild. I’ve got 3 Groms and they’re tough as nails. I let family drive them when at family functions etc. I always set up little races. Needless to say, it’s a bad idea to let others run your cars 😆 but the groms have held up great.
@joshuaclark3414 I would love for mine to hold up . I'm a little hard on them usually but no harder than derby city .
My groms, my arrmas as a whole all break within 10 minutes. I've been 3 times harder on x12s and 1/14 rlaarlo buggy still both unbroken.
The 1/14 Rlaarlo brushless buggy is a little beast as well
1/12 ;-)
No. I meant the 1/14
I realize the 1/12 scale is the one in the video but they also have a 1/14 scale, which is a little beast
Yes it is! I believe I got 50 or 52 mph with it.
I love these comparos. Never stop (believing).
I definitely want the Grom BLX, no question. Parts support just can't be beat with Arrma, simple as that.
Well, I have already made my choice and purchased the X 12 S. Absolutely love it. This video was really good info buddy. So happy to see your channel is killing it! You can get a metal shock tower brace for the grom which solves the issue, but yeah ideally the shock towers shouldnt be part of the chassis

Excellent comparison! I have the omni term, and it has surprised me. It handling is precise, and with MT tires, it handles any terrain!
I have both but drive the X12S more
Great overview! Helps me organize my thoughts about it!
Atleast you have organized thoughts 😂
My brain is like trying to find a hay in a needlestack.
Rlaarlos size advantage is why I'll choose it. Very nice buggies!
Size definitely plays a role!
@@DerbyCityRC THATS WHAT SHE SAID!
the extra length makes it way easier to go way faster. even on my backyard mini track w super tight turns, the 1/12 cars are faster
@@DerbyCityRCYes sir
The XTS is amazing while the new Rlaarlo buggy is just horrible looking, looks so cheap, got horrible bodyshell and wheels. The Arrma Typhon Grom BLX is an absolute weapon, such an amazing little car, far superior to the Rlaarlo buggy

great video. The Rlaarlo RagRing Bull😂 I thought it was that too. I dont even drive my x12s. only drove it once. Im kinda over the smaller rcs.

Gummy bears vs. jelly babies
The struggle continues
6:49 what is this space age contraption?
Is that a Stargate ?
I enjoy your content brother.
Rlaarlo is so hot right now. wish they were available at local hobby shops.
Awesome thanks
There's videos of the Grom hitting 57mph out the box on 3s.
i dont have either of these but i do have the omni terminator and if the buggy is anything like that its pretty awesome.
It’s not quite on the same level as the Omni or the XTS Rally, but it is pretty good!
I grabbed a Typhon but I think I want the x12 too
Great video as always brother!

@DerbyCityRC Are you going to try it? I would like to know before I order them. Lol Hope you catch this comment, it's a little late.
Did you have any problems with overheating after putting the speed pinion in the Rlaarlo buggy?
I had the OG AM-X12 so I stuck with the “matching” AM-X12S but then went with the Mojave Grom. It was the size and the that made the decision for me mostly vs the Typhon, can just handle grass etc a little bit better. No one else makes anything like the Mojave and the details are just amazing.
LC racing has a 1/14 short course that is very awesome as well.
Nice! You gonna do the brace and bumper beef-up? Lol Overall thats probably even better than aluminum housings.
I agree 100% with every-dang thing you said bro…
Transmitter is definitely better on the Arrma aswell
Snow shut down bashing in the ville didn't it!
lol sure did 😂 and school for literally the entire weak last week. Lol
Bro always making me buy both options 😂

Early bird gets the worm, I guess. Lol
lol! 🪱 🐦
And with that said.... I still don't know which one to get.! 😭😭😂😂😁😁
Oh well, looks like the perfect excuse to get both.!! 👍 👍
Haha…ya… Both is the best answer lol
@DerbyCityRC I mean, it's the only sensible answer isn't it.! 😉 😉
I said it would be x12, you were sure it would be grom. You can’t see it but I have my smug face on
lol! I wasn’t sure which would win I just thought it would be even closer lol. Hopefully the next one will make you smile 😆
I enjoy watching you being disappointed by the result you created 😅
Haha! Ya that was funny. The chart doesn’t lie! 😂
Now compare them to the Hyper go H16PL, lol
😂. I may wait til they revise it. It’s been out a long time lol
Rialarlo tires junk, the rims wobble after using it for some runs, plastic widened around hex nut makes them slop
Haven’t heard that one yet. They both have their weak points.

@ True, must be QC issue. My Mojave grom blx is great so far. But my brushless Fury has been giving me nothing but problems.
That’s weird too as most people seem to not break the fury. But you’re probably right. QC isn’t what it used to be 😢
Neither for me honestly all though had it of been the mojava grom I’d go arrma
Neither! The buggies have too many exposed parts to break. Wing, no front bumper, and shock towers! Same platform is the Mojave with those things and protection. ROG1 same platform but better build as well. Only issue it had was the cvd weakness which was replaced on production run 2. So I choose neither.
Nice! I’m a full body shell guy myself but I like them all. Buggies do tend to break easier when crashed for the reasons you stated 😃
Buggies are not made for bashing.
I should have fucking waited I bought a granite Grom the only non brushless
My only "concern" is that for less than half that cost you can get a brushless pro 1\16 hbx 16890 (same size as the arrma) and out of the box already fast (around 30mph) and with a 25eur ESC capable of 3s and around 40mph which you can even increase with a modified motor mount and 16t pinion or higher kv motor (stock is around 3800kv).
