Snakes aren’t aggressive they’re defensive. Almost 100% of the time if you leave it alone it will flee from you. People mistake them coming at them as an attack when in reality their hiding spot is probably behind you and they just want to go there.
I saw a bulldog one summer years ago that was bitten in the face by a cottonmouth. His head was swollen to the size of a couple of basketballs. I remember the owner telling me the dog was very sick for the first week but was on his way to recovering. I've also been told by someone who experienced getting bit on the hand by a Cottonmouth that it was like having his hand slammed hard in a car door. A very painful bite!
question.... do snakes raised in captivity have different venom characteristics than those from the wild??
Excellent video, a well trained staff.

wow...these cottonmouths were really mellow.
Peppertree133 T They usually are, majority of the stories on their aggressive behavior are false. Also the term angry nest of cottonmouths is completely false as they do not live like that they are loner snakes.
Akari Slays right. I know they aren't aggressive. In some other milking videos, though, the cottonmouths became understandably agitated and thrashed around (who wouldn't?) I'm just surprised these snakes seemed to be used to the routine or something.
@@cindys9491 They were born in that facility...
@@vadaminot429 right. But I saw other videos from the same facility where snakes born in the facility got angry and lashed out. Regardless of it being routine.
@@cindys9491 .... Hmm!
Dangerous job
More importantly, is that cute woman single?
No! She's his..
They say cottonmouths aren't in East Tennessee, but I swear I saw one when I was a kid walking home from school. Had the diamond shaped head and was gaping as we walked past it. I have never liked snakes. I had a roommate years ago that had albino Burmese python. I held the damn thing and got used to it, but I still didn't like it. It was picky it wouldn't eat dead rats. Then sometimes his dumbass wouldn't kill the live ones quick enough and they would bite him and shit. He got so big we had to feed him in a dog kennel. He ate feeder rabbits. We also looked in the paper for free kitten ads in the classified ads. Kittens made a good meal for him.

That's mean you fed him innocent kittens that someone was trying to find a home for.
Cottonmouths are only found in the Western third of Tennessee including counties on the Northern Highland Rim.
I dont understand why these guys just let them bite and let go.how about actually milking the snake
It’s bc a cottonmouth will just tag and forget a brown snake will bite and hold on to make sure it kills and delivers a lethal dose a cotton mouths venom will slowly kill the pray and they will track it afterwards
