Lovely song written by Jackson C. Frank who came to England where he met a number of the British folk artists of the time. This has been recorded by various people but Bert’s is my favourite. I love this song and Bert and Finn really do it justice here. Try to do justice to Jackson by listening to his original version. He didn’t have the best of times later in life. God bless you Bert and Jackson.
Bert was the first person I heard sing this song at Le Cousins Folk Club in Soho.
Had the honour of mixing the sound at a gig for bert, danny thompson an martin jenkins , hung out for the afternoon with them an bert played my newly bought guitar which I still have, 1980, a fab memory, oh he played Angie on my guitar!
To feel the background of Jackson C Frank’s song , the original writer from a deprived background played here by Bert, with feeling and originality, makes me complete!
So great. He’s been playing this reharmonized version for decades!
I have always loved this song since I heard Roy Harper - who wrote My Friend about Jackson C. Frank - play it way back when. I have always struggled with depression so I know what this song is about. Bert's various versions are so encouraging
Truth. Right here. Bless him.

Just in case you, like me, want to learn to play it the old-fashioned way, here's a division in small parts I'm making to make rewinds to key moments easier... Thanks to Maru for all the wonderful music she shares with me
Great version. Breaks my heart…

Who's the other fellow, not Jansch? (Btw, Bert Jansch had a beautiful song called "One for Joe," and I'm wondering whether you guys know it.)
Finn Kalvik is filling in nice, almost sound like 12 strings sometimes there.
❤ 😢
RIP
I loved Bert Jansch - as a schoolgirl I picked potatoes on a local farm to earn enough money to go to see him live - at Bulkington School hall, Warwickshire, about 1965. This is my favourite of all his perfomances.
