When you try to catch Lugia in G/S/C and it punches it away and in gen 1 there is a 1/255 chance it fails because that's how it was programmed in gen 1.
I didn't, I didn't have the time dude. I had to go out with family. I just posted what I thought was correct and I was wrong, could of just politely told me bro. I ain't looking for shit with other people.
Here's a funny joke story I've recently heard and Chugga might be a fan of it because it ends in a pun and is Pokémon related. So I had this friend named Jamal, we were 10 at the time and his mom took us to the store. On the way home we ran into a stray cat and he begged his mom if they could keep it. At first his mom kept refusing but somehow he was able to convince her because every time I visit I see the same stray cat lounging in the living room. To this day my friends, whom I've told this story, and I now call him Got-a-cat Jamal.
Mewtwo: Always caught, never defeated. Not just like A boss, but like THE most badass boss in Pokemon history. I don't think that will ever change--and I say it had BETTER NOT.
My sister beat mewtwo once without knowing Mewtwo was a legendary Pokemon... and this happened last year and she is 11 years old now... she's still regreting it...
Liam Kinsey He is saying that the mewtwo stephen and co. drew for the fake bio like every other fucking pokeman in this LP looks like the mega evolution of mewtwo in pokemon Y
I just wanna say I have just finished watching this and it was the best thing to watch while I was playing Pokémon sun so thanks I guess and I will probably rewatch when Pokémon Shield comes out
There's like a slightly less than 1% chance a Master Ball can fail, but the scenario is incredibly specific. That chance is only apparent when you're battling a Level 100 Genesect, which is impossible.
I thought that the chances of a Master Ball failing were only ever present in Generation I - that's a 1/65536 chance of failing, a lower chance than an encounter with a Shiny Pokémon. Most of the future games IIRC have a part in the catch rate formula that checks for a Master Ball that allows it to bypass the formula and enable an instant capture.
magma743 I only mentioned the Shiny part because that's the comparison of figures - to encounter them is normally a 1/8192 chance, as we all know (which, technically, is actually a 4/65536 chance). And as for that Genesect thing, you have been heavily misinformed. Whoever claims that is spouting BS or is using some sort of cheating device because you *cannot,* under any circumstances, encounter Genesect in regular gameplay. It remains an event Pokémon only distributed through the Mystery Gift, and unlike Arceus and Victini there's no way to encounter it in an in-game event, unused or otherwise. Even if you could encounter it in normal gameplay, the lowest a catch rate can ever go is 3/255 (or 256; either way, Genesect's catch rate is this number), and if you're *playing the game normally* the game will automatically bypass all the checks for a successful capture if a Master Ball is thrown - the only Generation which apparently does not do this is Generation I.
TouyaShiro Nekomata At that low of a chance for failure on part of the master ball, you'd have a better chance of encountering Pokerus, which I have seen one pokemon in the wild with pokerus. that is a 1/22000 chance and I still have only found one shiny.
When I caught Mewtwo on my HeartGold it only took me two balls. My first, an ultraball, failed. Then I threw a Heavy Ball and that got him. I freaked when I did it, I was so surprised a Heavy Ball could work. :D
Emile: "I'm not gonna influence this, I don't wanna be held responsible." Emile, not two minutes later: "Temp-ta-tion. Temp-ta-tion." And this is why you either love or hate Emile. There is no middle ground.
Well, that tells me two things: You're trying to catch a Pokémon that's actually an event Pokémon which has not got a wild encounter in any of the games it appears in, and that somehow you screwed the formula in such a way that the Master Ball did not bypass the catch rate formula checks. Either way, you cheated :P
Me: I catch Mewtwo in 5 min with a Dusk Ball in Pokemon X/Y My Cousin: Fails 5 times and Kills Mewtwo 5 times & i had to help her catch it. I GOT TEH POWER! *Pokemon OR/AS releases* Me: Gets a Shiny Kyogre from wonder trade with a Venasur and Ponyta. My Cousin: IDK
From Bulbapedia Article "Master Ball": The Master Ball (Japanese: マスターボール Master Ball) is a variety of Poké Ball introduced in Generation I, and arguably the rarest of all Poké Ball variants. It is unique in the aspect that it is guaranteed to catch any wild Pokémon that it is thrown at (with the exception of the ghost Marowak and Kyurem while it is under Ghetsis's control).
Caught him with an Ultra Ball twice when I was playing Pokemon Blue back in the day on the Game Boy Color. Always had to make sure that he had a little less HP than he did, when you guys finally decided to get him with a Master Ball. He was such a tough one..
Someone needs to make this into a fanfic and title it 'Why Should The Devil See All The Good Battles?' or something like that. 0:23 "Emile and I." "DOGGONE IT, EMILE!" Also, I can agree with you, Emile. Mewtwo's probably one of the hardest legendary Pokémon to catch without a Master Ball, if not *the* hardest.
That'd be partly because of two things: Reshiram's catch rate is actually pretty high (I believe it's 45/255), and the reason its catch rate is that high is because it's a required catch in Pokémon Black (defeating it won't yield any experience points and won't advance the story unless you somehow fill every single PC box in such a way where you can't send it to the PC). Zekrom is the same for Pokémon White, and as it always is, Pokémon retain their catch rates through all their games that they appear in.
Not anymore. That was a problem in Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, but they changed the way the masterball is handled in the newer games. It is impossible for a masterball to fail in any of the games from Gen II and onward. And the chance of it failing was waaay slimmer than just 1 in 610.
my mewtwo fight story for x/y. I ran out of everything, my timer balls and dusk balls all failed, and I needed my master ball for something else. all I had left was a quick ball. It caught it first try. This was a TWO HOUR FIGHT!
Actually in every version of mother 2 one shop keeper has always had a different line in the SNES version, mother 1+2 on the GBA and in the Wii U port ( I heard about this on earthbound central but can't find the article any more)
The odds of finding a fighting type in there range from 10-21% depending on which floor you're on... pretty big spread of types in there, but on each floor you can find Parasect and Golbat at decent rates, and always at higher rates than the fighting ones.
I can't cite where I read it, but there was this place where it was detailing the formula behind catching Pokemon. After explaining, it went to say, that because of it, Master Ball doesn't have a solid 100% to catch, but a 99.99% or so to catch.
I will never forget this... I actually caught Mewtwo with green health and using a POKEBALL (not an Ultra or Master Ball mind you...). So yeah, just like Chugga said in one of his Pokemon playthroughs: If you catch something or not is completely random and it doesn't matter which Ball you throw. :)
Can you please explain being paralised to me........ When i am paralised i can dodge a earthquake or a blissard but i cant use phychic... How does that work
The Masterball has a 255X catch rate yes. This does translate however, to 1/65536 fail rate. It has not ever been documented that the Masterball has failed. It can happen though technically. That being said, excellent video and excellent LP!
"Now i have one question for you....Did you buy an Escape Rope"
"....Oh God...NOOOOO"
YOU THOUGHT KOOPA WORKED ALONE?
Seriously, I love that intro.
"My name is Stephen Georg, and I am joined with a special guest, Mr. Chuggaaconroy"
"Who?"
the boy who cried "he's out of recover"
When recover has 20 PP instead of 10. XD
10:58
Stephen drew Mega Mewtwo Y before the X and Y came out! :D
***** Stephen's actually the X Y development team lead designer
that was Chuggaaconroy
+TheBattleProductions lmfao
Hi, Michael.
***** Hi, Jacob.
Choosing not to save before legendary fight: the mark of asking to fail.
"What would survive the self destruct?"
"Well, you dont have a ghost type"
IM JUST THINKING, IT DOESN'T EFFECT MISDREAVUS.
There's only 1 time that a Master Ball fails: It's when you try to catch a trainer's Pokemon.
When you try to catch Lugia in G/S/C and it punches it away and in gen 1 there is a 1/255 chance it fails because that's how it was programmed in gen 1.
MCG_Raven Really?I think it can.
I believe the only time it can fail is Arceus
MCG_Raven Yo dude calm down, I don't know all of the mathematics to this. I made an error calm down.
I didn't, I didn't have the time dude. I had to go out with family. I just posted what I thought was correct and I was wrong, could of just politely told me bro. I ain't looking for shit with other people.
Hard to believe this was 10 years ago I treated this video like the avengers teaming up for the first time.
I wonder... Pokemon Showdown...

D Pahl I'll have to look at your videos to be sure, but I'm a steadfast Chugga fan.
I'm his #1 fan! I started a group of people dedicated to being great fans, and hopefully being as good friends with him as Stephen!
10:57 Stephen and Emile predicted Mega Mewtwo Y!
The Cutehog Team Mega Mewtwo Y was revealed before this
Me: Found a shiny Magikarp *Looks in bag*
Pokeballs: Masterball
Me: FUCK IT
david gadbois
Except no he didn't.
Yeah not only was that rude but he actually did not do it 😂.
I always appreciate your scheduled episodes, because I can prepare food and drink to perfectly line up with your upload. Like preparing for a movie.

Counting? I can do that!
A B C D... wait a minute.
3:20 “it’s a Wat-“ “it’s a Psychic type”. Wo-bbuffet-Water type. Blue Pokémon-Water type. Congrats lol
On average, you have a 17% chance to encounter a Fighting-type in Cerulean Cave in Gen III.
I like how that fake Mewtwo that's not soposed to look very much like Mewtwo actually resembles Mega Mewtwo Y
The stupidity of that sentence is too great for anyone to comprehend.
what!?
The fake mewtwo in the bio looks slightly like Mewtwo's mega evolution that's available in Pokemon Y...
Liam Kinsey Well I don't think that was completely necessary.
Liam Kinsey He is saying that the mewtwo stephen and co. drew for the fake bio like every other fucking pokeman in this LP looks like the mega evolution of mewtwo in pokemon Y

I just watched that vlog with the crazy pokemon siri song yesterday!
"OMG YOUR FEET ARE HUGE!" That reference to Orre xD
I do believe that there is a 1 in 65535 chance of the Master Ball failing.
There's like a slightly less than 1% chance a Master Ball can fail, but the scenario is incredibly specific. That chance is only apparent when you're battling a Level 100 Genesect, which is impossible.
Nah, it's Genesect.

I'm not sure, all I know is the Genesect thing was true, it might even be Shiny.
Shinies didn't exist in Gen 1, but they did at the same time.
magma743
I only mentioned the Shiny part because that's the comparison of figures - to encounter them is normally a 1/8192 chance, as we all know (which, technically, is actually a 4/65536 chance).

I want a Chugga and Steven Podcast with gaming news, reviews and banter, I'd pay for it too.
Stephen - People come to me and are like "How do I play Earthbound?" and I'm like well...
Emile - STRUGLE!
Stephen 2014: Mew! Thats not your name....
What if someone used a luvdisc to fight mewtwo & actually caught mewtwo in a pokeball? That would just be so funny.
Well, never thought I would see a video longer than the Shadow of the Colossus #16 video.
When I caught Mewtwo on my HeartGold it only took me two balls. My first, an ultraball, failed. Then I threw a Heavy Ball and that got him. I freaked when I did it, I was so surprised a Heavy Ball could work. :D
Now I need to watch this lp.
Especially since he used bulbasaur! 💚
Dat Mewtwo art doe.
Emile: "I'm not gonna influence this, I don't wanna be held responsible."
Emile, not two minutes later: "Temp-ta-tion. Temp-ta-tion."
And this is why you either love or hate Emile. There is no middle ground.
Did Chugga predict Mega Mew2 Y with his Drawing ?? XD
Yes, yes he did. He do good job of it doe.
This whole episode is a memorable moment
I kid you not, my Master Ball didn't FUCKING WORK!!! (It was up against a Keldeo.)
Well, that tells me two things: You're trying to catch a Pokémon that's actually an event Pokémon which has not got a wild encounter in any of the games it appears in, and that somehow you screwed the formula in such a way that the Master Ball did not bypass the catch rate formula checks. I love videos with Chuggaconroy. He's so loud and he always brings the hype!
I just love the Chuggaaconroy laugh.
Me to
+Bob-ombs Away "hehehehe"
I love it when these two film together. They never fail to induce a laugh riot. xD
chugga: one question: did you buy an escape rope?
Stephen: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
me: xD
Stephen: "I have not played SS."
Chuggaa: "You need to."
10/10
19:00 Chugga, Parafusion!
This was great. I would love to see Chugga "coach"/commentate in other Pokemon LPs.
Me: I catch Mewtwo in 5 min with a Dusk Ball in Pokemon X/Y
My Cousin: Fails 5 times and Kills Mewtwo 5 times & i had to help her catch it. I GOT TEH POWER!
*Pokemon OR/AS releases*
Me: Gets a Shiny Kyogre from wonder trade with a Venasur and Ponyta.
My Cousin: IDK
I'm pretty sure those are hacks, not sure, but I heard the main legendaries are shiny locked
NinjaStar531 I know its hacked
I came in there, with knowledge of how he's like. Master balls it :P
"Once the toes are taken out we can catch him" Best line ever.
Does mewtwo look like freza from dragon ball z?
kinda
Made a Digimon reference in a Pokemon video.... YOU ROCK! AND YOU DESERVE A MEDAL FOR BEING SUCH A BRAVE MAN!
Die burger (pronounced dee burger) is actually a South African newspaper. The more you know.
The humanity! or should I say... cow-manity.
I think that we're milking this a bit.
Time to stop this.
From Bulbapedia Article "Master Ball":

at gen 1 ther 0.000001 chance to fail it was fixed in gen 2
and like with uwant to why at gen 1 there was a chace to fail it was
just a joke
Master Ball can still fail
Xander Davis didn't you hear what chugga said
Chris Koraltan I'm going off of experience and articles
chugga has searched on a LEGIT website
Xander Davis a master ball can indeed fail you are correct... it actually happened to me while trying to catch a shiny ho oh once
Chugga: Honestly,
Me: *sings* I wanna see you be brave!
Emile used to be such a spoon lmao
dead channel you watch Mumbo Jumbo
Stephen this was defintly the best of the series Chuggaa defintly helped in the comedy
Legendaries are a pain to catch
Ha UA-cam comments
+Kehan Shabeouf At least he went to grammar school.
***** Lol Thx😂
Not all the time
Caught him with an Ultra Ball twice when I was playing Pokemon Blue back in the day on the Game Boy Color. Always had to make sure that he had a little less HP than he did, when you guys finally decided to get him with a Master Ball. He was such a tough one..
Honestly, if you wanna stop saying honestly, you should honestly see a therapist. I'm kidding. *Honestly,* I'm kidding.
These two are so funny when they're in the same room.
i cap Mewtwo with a pokeball... now rage
I loved this LP, one of the best Pokemon ones ever.
Prolly my favorite Stephen Plays LP.
11:04
Look at the mewtwo in the entry, then look at mega mewtwo.
Stephen has predicted the future.
Imagine the video just abruptly ended after Stephen yelled NOOOOO!
+Preston brusserd (sorry if spelled wrong) no they're not but they are both youtubers and like Best Friends
No, they exist in gen 3. You can buy them from a vendor in Two Island after doing the ruby/sapphire side quest in FR/LG
My underwhelming best pokemon moment is when I caught the reshiram in pokemon white 2 in a quick ball on the first turn.
Honestly, this video is spectacular.
Good job Stephen. Fun LP. Also, the ending was great. Pokemon podcast.
i must applaud that amazing fanart of mewtwo well done guys
I like that you guys didn't even pay attention when you captured Mewtwo.
I love seeing my two favorite Let's Players in one video!! This was awesome!!!
@KingdraGaming No, he is from Arizona and lives in Florida. Stephen is from SC.
I love how the MEWTWO fan art straight up looks like the new MEWTWO form/ MEWTHREE from X and Y, good move chugga (he drew the art)
a day in the life of stephen and chuggaa, please

Aw, i'm sad that the Pokemon series has ended. I really enjoyed this LP. You must be ecstatic though, Stephen xD
ichundnichter. That true I got a dratni in a safari ball
36:35 oh you will Stephen and you'll get from a certain person
46 minutes of the last usage of recover. XD A wonderful final episode ♥
Well, if one were to go after Entei, you use the Master Ball because if a wild Entei uses Roar in this specific duo of games, it is gone forever...
Can you please explain being paralised to me........ When i am paralised i can dodge a earthquake or a blissard but i cant use phychic... How does that work
this was the first video ive ever seen emile in i love chuggaa by the way
Tip: Always bring Sableye to this fight. ;) (works in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire as well against Deoxys)
Oh, and that item you specifically mentioned in the top right corner before Mewtwo... Chuggaa- "Watch it be the best item in the game"
Max Revive.
He's correct. Just only in RBY. And if going by that logic, you can throw it at a trainer pokemon to make it fail too.
the audio at the end had me laughing for like five minutes!! XD
Holy crap! 18 min in and I just realized he still has a Kadabra! Haven't watched any other video of this playthrough
me too
OMG, im sorry but you almost forgot that the vid was recording. nice job stephan!!
Oh, how ironic chuggaa mentions a future let's play game...........
You can only evolve a Kadabra by trading it, the same as Graveller evolves into Golem via trading and Haunter into Gangar as well. ^^
*laughs at chuggaa's drawing* OH MAH JEEZUS GRANDMA! XD
HAHAHAHAHA! YES! HILARIOUS! OH GOD! I'M TRYING NOT TO LAUGH SO HARD! XD
The Masterball has a 255X catch rate yes. This does translate however, to 1/65536 fail rate. It has not ever been documented that the Masterball has failed. It can happen though technically. That being said, excellent video and excellent LP!
slight question: what happens to the failed pokeballs? is mewtwo up to his knees in discarded ultra ball pieces now?
Dry Skin was not implemented in the games until the fourth generation, so in this game Parasect is only 4x weak to Fire (and Flying).
