Thanks for watching and for support me, SUBSCRIBE my channel.
I loved my Yankee screwdrivers. I had a big one and a smaller one. No batteries required, worked perfectly when the grid was up or down.
🍺🍺
Sometimes it is hard to believe the before restoration and the after restoration are the same pieces
Great Job...Well Done 👍😁👍
Good job for a vintage tool. It's the first time i saw someone restored it..👍
I still have the large one on a shelf in my shed with a box full of bits both flat head and crossheads, I used it every day in the 80's while my friends used ordinary screwdrivers this screwdriver blast screws in and out with ease. Great job on the restoration.
And as a yankee myself. Thsnks for saving this tool.
Very nicely done. I will be doing one just like it so it was helpful to see someone do it first
Tool is great for piercing the foot. Banged up from years at the bottom of the tool box. Pretty!
Great job looks fantastic I think it is the best tool in the box But no spring ? And was that a Woden vice? Fantastic video thanks for sharing your time and skill and remember#stay safe and make. 🍺🍺👍👍
Brian Gardner the first ones made by north bro’s tools had no spring in them the spring was added in later models and popularly in the Stanley version of it
Great job. That bit tip holder idea is genius. I can also use uit with my torx screws too.
You can buy adapters for the yankee screwdrivers that convert them to normal bits
I have 3 normal sized ones and a rather large one. They are all in great shape. I rotate them for use except the large one. Fun to use.
Nice! Looks like a really early incarnation of the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.
I have a similar item in my toolbox (inherited from my late grandfather) whilst it works it is in need of some TLC and now thanks to you I know how. I believe mine is British made however.
That’s awesome. You could put that mechanism into an arbor press and have a really unique drill press that doesn’t use a motor or wheel.
I have one exactly like yours, i would like to restore it in a future, but i think you have forgotten to reinstall the big spring it have inside the handle. Very nice and worked restoration
Hi.thanks for comment, the screwdriver is the early one without spring🍺🍺
Mam identyczne urządzenie, radzieckie, kupione w ZSRR w latach 70-tych. Komplet wkrętak, kilkanaście końcówek w gustownej metalowej kasetce.
у меня была такая же , только рукоять пластиковая. I had the same, only the plastic handle
good job
I own one of these and I wondered how to maintenance it. Thanks
I used to have one of these. They're great if they aren't worn out too badly. If they are, they get janky pretty quick.
brilliant job , well done
Good work.ATB.
Se olvidó que eso funciona con un resorte !!!! No tenía ni idea que estaba arreglando !!!!
Que lastima tanto trabajo y le quedo mal.
Hi, any idea on how to disassemble / service the chuck of this Yankee spiral ratchet screwdriver?
Smart job but they had a purple handle with a large spring in .
No The early ones had a non painted wood handle with a clear finish
Brass body? Interesting.
had one back in the '70s the wooden handle should be red.
Bravo!
Ilik this tool ☺
You're missing the spring
It's the early one without spring.🍺🍺🍺🍺
Pourquoi ne pas avoir mélangé la sciure avec la colle à bois ? 🧐
J'ai mélangé la sciure de bois avec la colle à bois pour combler le trou dans la poignée
Alex B merci pour la réponse. Coupure au montage ! 😂
You know I used translate to answer you😂😂😂but I understand a little bit French, I learned in school.
I have one of those, never disassembled it. It has no spring.
May be there were different models. Can send picture if someone wants.
I'm not sure if this model it's with spring .thank you for comment 🍺🍺
Alex B nope the north bro’s model A had no spring
No electricity supply or battery, well I never!
I wand this
The pump action should come out on a spring, your is missing.
It's not missing because this screwdriver is the early one without spring🍺🍺
Early ones made by north bro’s had no spring in the design
Did anyone use it? Ever?
Great tools mine are still in regular use ,plus I have several of this type still usable ,that came from my wife’s grandfather and my own father I’m in my sixties so the reliability of the tool is terrific.
I own about 6 of these Yankee screwdrivers and this without doubt the worst so-called restoration I’ve ever seen he didn’t have the spring and he ground off the release catch u need that ruff edge to release the spring on the screwdriver for it to pump up and down and yes I still use mine after 40 years the bits are getting hard to come by ,but I wouldn’t part with it
,but I wouldn’t part with it
Isn't it lacking the spring to extend the push action without needing a second hand on the collar?
Hi.this model is the early one without spring.thanks for comment 🍺🍺
Who knew so much gunk could be inside one ratchet screwdriver handle. In my miss spent youth I worked for a window fitter his ratchet screwdriver handle was a much prized position.
Thank you for saving this very nice and unique screwdriver. It definitely needed some help. It's good for another 100 years. Thumbs up from the American West.
My dad had one of these that was given to him by his father (my grandfather).. which i still have his (my grandfathers) toolbox. The toolbox was hand made out of solid wood, full of the old style hand lathes. i believe they called it a ratchet driver.. but i dunno.
I have 2 of these, but the larger version. They work great. Truly a "cordless" tool.
Mine are made by Stanley, when they made everything in the US.
Good job. It seems you're missing the spring in the handle. There should be a large spring.
It's looking amazing
Well done bro! Good luck in your restoration!
Thanks
That screw driver should have a spring to push the spiral out ?
yes i know but i searched all over the internet and i didn't find this spring, the only chance is to search through carboot when they open.thank you for comment.
The original Yankee screwdriver did not have a spring.
Nope the first types did not have a spring that came with later patents
Thanks 🍺🍺🍺
Civicboomer mine's exactly the same as that one, I inherited it from my grandfather a coffin maker/carpenter prior to the war and it has a spring.
