David…..you remind me of how hard we are on ourselves. I , totally absent-mindedly, have forgotten what I did with my not cheap cell phone, only to finally realize that it was on the roof of my car, where I put it, while needing two hands to load something else in-and then driving away! I found it retracing my route- flattened like a pan cake in the road! This has become the bane of my senior life. Sometimes all you can do is laugh!
Hi David and Lefty. Boy that story hit really hard. I've experienced the same thing. Mine was more sentimental. My Grandma gave me several jewelry items that I treasured, and in moving three different times after COVID hit I had misplaced them. I searched for days and months for the items with a broken heart that I'd never find them. I even emptied out my whole storage unit, dug through every bin and put it all back. And you'll never guess where I found it, finally. In my Louis Vuitton bag. I knew they were valuable, so I hid them really well. So it was right here in my Casita the whole time. I damn near had to check myself into an insane asylum over it. So I totally get it!! And maybe one day it'll show up. ?? Or perhaps not. But the idea that you have to just let it go, and that you shared the story with us, I think is healing. At least I hope it is for you. ✌️ I have to say I do love the drone shots you had on your last episode. I just wasn't able to comment, because I was on my lunch break at work. I love and enjoy your episodes, so much that it doesn't matter what's going on in my day, I take time to watch them. You and Lefty, you make me smile 😊. I plan on getting out to Quartzite hopefully at the end of January or the middle of February. I just have to meet you and Lefty, or I'll kick myself for years for that. I'm glad you found something that works for you now. It looks awesome!! Pretty soon lots of companies will be wanting you to use their drones. Anybody who watches your channel knows how smart you are! Oh, and how adorable Lefty is. Sending loving prayers 🙏💞✌️🇺🇲
Very happy to see much more bike riding this year. The little R2-BEEP-BOOP thing following you around brings your viewers along for these rides nicely. Can't wait to see more desert riding action this year.
Your story brings comfort to those of us who also can't stand to lose things. Something just isn't right when we don't know where something is! It doesn't feel great, but it speaks to an admirable value: you appreciate what you have. You take care of your things. You're not wasteful. Those are the good values behind the worry and wondering.
Hi David. We were camped very close to you last week in Quartzsite. In fact our rig has many cameo’s throughout todays vlog. You were walking in the wash behind us. Only regret that we have is that we were not able to say hi to you and Lefty…and to thank you personally for your great content. Thank you for what you do. It is greatly appreciated.
I’m sorry to hear about your drone loss, David. One thing I would consider in the future would be to employ unobtrusively placed “Air Tags” for things like your Campulance, drone, motorcycle, e-bike, etc. The Air Tag allows tracking and geolocation of missing devices. This is especially useful for drones as they frequently crash or get lost. The tags make for a less “needle in haystack search”. 😎
Thanks David! I was looking for a simple drone that did neat stuff and was not complicated. I ordered one through Amazon and plan to use the heck out of it in my travels. 👍🐕
Can relate to your story; Like having things in their places, too. When something is not where it's supposed to be, it just does not compute. Stops me in my tracks -
That’s a neat little gadget and more my speed. A subscriber gave me a drone earlier this year and I have yet to try it because it seems so overwhelming. This gadget seems simple and very user friendly.
Ah, too bad about the drone. The first footage I saw awhile ago I was thinking to myself -looks like a hover air. It is a fun gadget. So easy to get up and running I was able to do and that sort of stuff is not in my wheelhouse. Glad you are having fun with it!
Your content is great. Whether if it’s a drone or go pro! Your vlogs always are entertaining and just great to watch! You stay safe, stay warm. Have a Merry Christmas!🎁🎄
David, we all misplace things based on stress and all that is going on. I love your honesty. So excited you got this one. Could you do a lesson on how to fly it? I would love to see more about it before I purchase
Thanks Deb. I'll be showing it more in future videos. There are a bunch of other channels that have shown the Hover, they may give you some more info right away. It's as easy as turn it on, choose mode, launch :)
I can relate to your story I’ve lost/stolen an expensive item and it’s quite exasperating on so many levels. I’ve just had to learn to “let it go” cause I’m not sure what the hell happened to it. Be well be safe my friend 😊
I'm happy that you got to a point where you were comfortable enough with your viewing audience to be vulnerable with us and admit to something that you felt embarrassed about. It reminds me of an old saying, that "happiness shared is twice the happiness and sorrow shared is half the sorrow". I suppose you could add to that that "shame/embarrassment shared is reduced exponentially by the number of people who say 'yeah I've done that, too.'" I really hope that you didn't drive off and leave it somewhere but rather shoved it into some safe cranny somewhere and forgot all about it. And that at some point in the future we'll be treated to your "I FOUND IT!!!" video. But, in the meantime, the thing you got to replace it looks awesome -- and for the price it's been taking some really great aerial shots so, thank you for sharing that. Peace and happy trails.
@@TheCampulanceMan someday you're gonna show up at a rendevous and some fellow nomad will be saying "Look at this awesome drone I found in the middle of nowhere!" #fleetfindkarma
Forgive yourself! We all do stupid things we later regret. I left a pair of high quality prescription glasses ($600) on my vehicle roof as I removed my tie and jacket. I closed the back door and drove away. Got home 25 miles away before I realized they were gone. Back tracked, but no use. Hope you have good Holidays.
David, I just lost an item, that in many ways is much worse to lose than a drone and I’m sick about it! I know the feeling! I can’t let it go. I’ve stopped looking for it during Christmas, but I have to start looking for it , again, on Jan 2nd. So, I understand how you feel!
So sorry you misplaced your new drone.😔 I guess we all know how frustrating it is when we misplace things, especially things that are a little more expensive or sentimental to us. Glad you were able to tell us what you think happened to it. Hopefully, your heart feels less heavy now. But I am glad that you have that cute little hover gadget to use! Hopefully it lessens the sting of losing your drone!!😊
sorry to hear about your drone. I did the exact same thing with some tools. I was in Colorado driving off-road trails and I broke down. After making repairs I picked up all my things and moved on. That night I remembered pushing one of my tool boxes up under the truck because it was trying to rain. I went to look for my toolbox and could not find it so the next day I went back to the same spot to look for it and it was gone. When you have a lot of small items in your vehicle it can be hard to keep up with them. At least I'm pretty sure what happened to mine so it doesn't bother me that much but in your case I can understand you being upset. I build and fly drones so I will check around and see if we can find you one.
Dave, I waved @ U in the chevron P lot last week, and U seemed a little confused. I saw ur dog sitting up in the cab , I never forget a dog now people are another thing. I watch ur channel and you said u had been sick so I figured u didn’t know who I was so didn’t return the hello. I was the dude on the Indian motorcycle waving @ u like ur a famous rock star. U had this look in ur face, why is this crazy biker waving at me. Hope ur feeling much better.
Hi David and Lefty: Too bad about losing that other drone. Good that you let it go. Maybe you'll get lucky and stumble across it sometime in the future. The flying camara does a good job though. I was going to buy a dji a year ago but started by getting some cheap ones to practice with. Out of the six cheap ones I lost all but one into trees that I never saw the drone fly into. Could not locate them. This put the brakes on my desire for a drone. Stay well and be safe.

Be careful in who you hang out with. Some make you feel welcome in a group, but, if you leave your rig to go shop, they somehow get in rigs (not sure if master key, pick lock, or what). I have had so much stuff stolen on the road - many seem to know more about security systems etc too. It has made me not trust even the nicest people. Sad - as most seem to have as much or more than me, yet they gang up and look out for eachother. Also watch for the ones who come in just for a weekend....
Hi David, I bought my husband a drone for Christmas a few years ago. Just a Costco one, nothing fancy. Well we all trooped over to a nearby lake to try it out and on its very first flight it flew off for parts unknown. My husband said he must have invoked the home function and it flew home to China 😂. Later that spring we got a call. You see my husband duly registered the drone with the FCC and put our phone number on it. It seems someone was doing their spring yard clean and found the drone in in a bush. Then they said I hope your boy didn’t miss his drone too much. Once we got it back my husband downloaded the first (and last - the drone was too busted to fly anymore) and started laughing. Apparently the drone started flipping over and over and then flew off until it spotted that bush and dive bombed into it. The last thing you see is that bush getting larger and larger and larger 🤣
Concerning the lost drone , would the manufacturer or dealer happen to have a GPS type tag imbedded in it and could locate for you somehow ? Love your vlogs .
I’m not sure if you’re aware or if you’re already licensed but if you use drone video for commercial purposes (ie monetized videos) then you have to have a part 107 Faa license. It’s not hard to get and only takes some study and a test. I’d hate to see you get fined since they usually fine over twenty thousand dollars for that. I remember the copyright fiasco you went through and would hate to see you go through something else stressful. Thanks again for sharing with us! I really enjoy your videos!
Sorry I opened up some old wounds when I asked you about the kind of drone you was using. But to not being a drone and for what you are using it for, I must say it works great. I like the video it gives of you riding, but hey I like the video from your helmet just as much. And I bet you get tired carrying us around, especially with Lefty hooked up to you. But it makes us feel a little more like we are on the walks with you. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and Lefty.
Sorry about your drone loss. I just ordered a drone with spare batteries. I love the idea of having a dirt bike, but I have to figure out how to transport it. My van is a 2019 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van and it's a no build DIY conversion. I just paked it with my backpacking and camping gear. The second drone, spare batteries, and a protection package warranty cost me just under $25, one of those spcial Black Friday deals. I bought one two years ago, almost the same Black Friday deal but it was never flown by me. I gave it to someone as a birthday gift. I'm looking forward to taking the new one on my next adventure in New Mexico.
30 years ago, I was 100% sure that I put a diamond ring in one of four places when I went on vacation. After the vacation, it was in none of them. Never found it. Zero evidence it was stolen, plenty of evidence that it wasn't. No idea where it was or is. I had paid $5000 for it in 1989, and a jeweler had offered me $3500 cash for it a couple of months before I couldn't find it. Wish I'd taken the cash! I try to view it no differently than when I know I have some tool or hardware, can't find it, and go buy another one. Keeping track of possessions is a burden, and nobody does it perfectly. We're all human. Ever see a car pull out of its driveway with the driver's cup of coffee on the roof above them? I have. We all have moments of inattention, leading to unexplained mysteries.
David, I know nothing about drones, but it looks like they would have put some kind of locator chip in it so in case something like this happened! Paired with the app that would come with it! As much as they cost , maybe think about putting an air pod locator in it! Just a thought!
Hey Dave, I just pulled in I saw your Ambo and a couple of others so I decided to stop here. I'm in the blue and white ambo with the blackish trailer. Hope to get a chance to meet you and Lefty.
Theft is never good. Drones are more and more being thought of as an invasion of privacy by many people. Do you think that may be a part of the reason for theft? Having been to quartzite, many campers love the peace and quiet. The constant buzzing isn’t neighborly. Sorry about your loss. Love your GasGas!
The drone incident really sounds like an inside job. Someone that is either a family member or so called friend. After 26 years as a detective this has been my experience in solving these cases.
My truck was in the shop for the rear gears replacement during the time that it went missing. I never wanted to think that it could have happened there...
@@TheCampulanceMan Most likely them , I just do not see your daughter as the type that would do something like that. Sometimes it is an outside of the circle perpetrator.
While traveling across country 15 years ago with my brother, I made a stop along the highway to do my business and I thought my brother was asleep in the back of the vehicle. I returned to the car and continued on my way finally stopping for the night about 5 hours later. As I parked the car and registered in the motel, I went to get my brother up and discovered he was no where to be found. I tore the car apart looking for him, searched the motel and the area around it. Nothing. To this day I have no idea what happened to him and have never heard or seen him again.
when you get something put a sticker with your name on it/and if take out of tool area-do not set it down-put it in your living area/i am not preaching to you-when a person gets older-they do not pay that much attention-figure out a system for you/example i put all my car parts in a box-when i need something for my car-where do you think i go /when i buy a appliance-i get the manual on it-write on the manual date-serial number-cost-product codes etc/anyway-somebody might have walked off with it/lock the stuff up-ha-ha-you know what i mean/thinks much
i like that flying camera. i think its kinda GREAT. and maybe i need to test if for you Dave. you know there is always things that might go wrong and i can test if for you. i plan to be there soon after christmas. so charge a new battery for me
David, Please stop beating yourself up about an absolutely human glitch that we ALL make. I’m sure the fact that the drone had been gifted to you as part of a business agreement is part of what made this extra difficult to you. People such as you, (hard workers with excellent work records, reliable in all areas of their lives, strong work ethics, salt of the earth types that would give the shirt off their back for a person in need), tend to feel their honest mistakes are insurmountable problems. I’m so glad the drone company was understanding & treated you decently. It’s what you deserve as an honest, upstanding person. I enjoyed your hike your & ride with the ‘airborne camera’ you have been using, with great success. I’ll keep popping in to see how you are doing, & what’s peaked your interest lately. Wishing you & all of your viewers & subscribers a peaceful & joyous holiday season, as well as a wonderful New Year filled with new friendships & exciting adventures! Take care!
Maybe this will help: One year my car was stolen, found by police but it had been stripped clean. Next year, my entire house was robbed and the loss was exhorbitant. Trust me, you'll be fine.
Didn't you have to leave the rig at a shop for the 3rd member(rear end) to be worked on? Could someone have gained entry into the rig during that time? Your doing a great job with the flying camera.
That was my thought as well but I think the mechanic is David's friend. It could be an uncomfortable conversation or inquiry. Perhaps it's sitting in the Lost & Found at the shop?
My oldest grandson was given a drone many years ago by his grandfather. The grandfather decided to be the one to test it out first, he blew it right up into a tree that no one could get two. That drone lasted two hours out of the box. Very expensive mistake for grandpa. Lol.
Probably turn up somewhere years later. That camera you have now is cool I once pre-bought a drone that was supposed to do this about 10 years ago turned out to be a scam never worked. I eventually got my money back it was called lily cam.
Your truck was in the shop 2 summers ago for a long time. You probably had it taken while it was in that shop. I hate to think about it that way, but that was the only time your truck was away from your sight and it was there for a long time. That answers my question, sho was filming you. I have a drone I still haven't flown.
it is a mystery, let it go. don't blame yourself. 2 stories... i never lose anything, in my 60's NEVER misplaced a phone or any such expensive equipment. like you, i'm very careful and always aware of where these things are and where i place them. one day, i slipped my phone into my computer bag... an hour later went to get it and it was GONE. there is no explanation, none, believe me, i went over and over it a hundred + times. it just flat out disappeared. 2cd story... met with a friend of mine one afternoon who was in town visiting for a couple days. he used his computer when we met to show me some important documents/maps. that evening he laid his bed out in the back of his SUV -- placing his phone and computer right beside him. the next morning he woke and the computer and phone WERE GONE. there was no evidence of a break-in nothing else gone. it was as if someone/something opened the door right beside his head, took the equipement and shut the door without him ever hearing a thing. and he's a light sleeper. sometimes, the unexplainable happens with expensive equipment. mysteries in this world abound. don't hurt yourself over it.
Well then, different strokes for different folks 'pun intended', because your costly Gas Gas motorcycle could supply you with close to two years of 'food and water', compared to other bikes. And the Hover is a game changer in the world of YT videoing....take care.
I bought this same drone. I had seen Carolyn's Rv life do a video about it. The company says, because it is so small, you don't need a drown license to fly it. However, in Carolyn's next video she did more research and the FAA said that if you are using it for commercial use, showing on your monetized youtube channel, one does need a license. Therefore, I am returning mine unopened.

I love your flying home joke!!!
I had to buy another pair of glasses to find the glasses I had lost. I can relate.
That’s a really sick feeling my Friend sorry to hear 🫣
Concerning the lost drone , would the manufacturer or dealer happen to have a GPS type tag imbedded in it and could locate for you somehow ? Love your vlogs .
That's a good question! Thank you
Blessings always
Thank you Elaine :)
You are such a likable guy 😊
Thank you :)
Yes, thank you. I went through that when I had the other(lost) drone.
Merry Christmas to you as well!!!
I've seen the coffee cup several times! It's a laugh... I'd really love to see what I did with that thing!
Lefty is on a second bike taking that shot! Good boy. 🤣
David, I know nothing about drones, but it looks like they would have put some kind of locator chip in it so in case something like this happened! Paired with the app that would come with it! As much as they cost , maybe think about putting an air pod locator in it! Just a thought!
Good idea!
hope you feel better having finally gotten this story off your chest.
Yes, thank you :)
Neat little gadget ✌️🙏👍
Hey Dave,
I just pulled in
I saw your Ambo and a couple of others so I decided to stop here.
When I lose something it tends to be a box put in another box and stored somewhere I wouldn't normally store something.
With the helmet face mask down sounds like Darth Vader...:)
Luke...
Well it happens to the best of us.
Alive and something negative happened? There you are.
Really? Somehow this doesn’t seem like it could really be true.
This guy is good. He has a demeanor were he can sell you Ocean front property in Quartsite. What a con.
I lose things every now and then too, but I certainly don’t suspect that someone stole them.
I think your winning hoping a subscriber will buy you a drone for your channel!
Why not?
I feel I would get lost out there. JS
Ohhh Dear !!!!!!!
when you get something put a sticker with your name on it/and if take out of tool area-do not set it down-put it in your living area/i am not preaching to you-when a person gets older-they do not pay that much attention-figure out a system for you/example i put all my car parts in a box-when i need something for my car-where do you think i go /when i buy a appliance-i get the manual on it-write on the manual date-serial number-cost-product codes etc/anyway-somebody might have walked off with it/lock the stuff up-ha-ha-you know what i mean/thinks much
i like that flying camera. i think its kinda GREAT. and maybe i need to test if for you Dave. you know there is always things that might go wrong and i can test if for you. i plan to be there soon after christmas. so charge a new battery for me
Testing is always needed :)
Wishing you, Lucky, your daughter and your Mom a Very Merry Christmas and a healthy prosperous Blessed 2024.
Ocham's Razor
There! There's your solution.
You're welcome. 😉
That sucks.....At least you got it for free!
Agreed, thankfully I wasn't out of pocket :/
.. maybe it flew Off for new Adventures .. 😏🙄🤭💯🚁
David do you have to pay to camp in your area of Quartzite?
Take care!
Thank you for that comment :)
That Hover camera is $400? I thought you said it was much less....
I said $450 I believe, but it's $350-$430 depending on kit.
Great video. I have both a Yamaha TW200 and an Ebike. I can't carry both and I'm torn between which to take.
Hmmm. That's a tough choice, but I'd go with the gas powered :)
Maybe this will help: One year my car was stolen, found by police but it had been stripped clean. Next year, my entire house was robbed and the loss was exhorbitant. Trust me, you'll be fine.
May the good Lord watch over you and your family and friends. Peace and Love 😊
the blue and white ambulance is Pam? the red and white ambulance is Tony?
Correct sir.
@@kimperes5987friends steal ,rspecially if the mechanic has a drug problem
@@kimperes5987 Yep, i just wasn't sure who might of had access opportunity at any given time.
You're correct, that was when I had just packed it up. I didn't want to think about that happening there because I know the mechanic and the shop ...
I've thought of that...
The dingo ate the Drone.........
How has the flying camera done with all the twigs and branches? Is it able to avoid them, or has it gotten caught up on them?
It has obstacle avoidance and so far it's done ok and hasn't hung up on anything :)
I have a question. It seems to follow very well and avoid obstacles. My question is have you ever got it stuck in a tree?
It hasn't gotten stuck so far. It's done good!
I hope it does! I got taken about 10 years ago on an iPhone case that was also a wallet... it never got shipped and I had to fight to get a refund.
You must have Virgo in your chart somewhere. Rising sign maybe.
How about just..." Lefty and Me!!"
Merry Christmas David and Lefty
Your truck was in the shop 2 summers ago for a long time. You probably had it taken while it was in that shop. I hate to think about it that way, but that was the only time your truck was away from your sight and it was there for a long time. That answers my question, sho was filming you. I have a drone I still haven't flown.
I'd hate to think that happened...
To help offset cost of missing drone. Thanks!
That is so great! You are very generous and we thank you :)
I lost a drone myself. I know where it is however - the bottom of the Los Angeles harbor. Stuff happens
Ugh!
it is a mystery, let it go. don't blame yourself.
It had me so confused on what happened... just like your stories :/
Gremlins!
Do you still have to get an FAA license with this one? I like how simple it seems!!
I'm getting mixed info on it... it is below the weight guideline. I'm trying to get an answer.
How many different ambulances have you see?
So where is the drone?
How do the legal invitations on your present unit prepare with that on a drone can you flt it in a National Park!
👍
Does it have obstacle avoidance? Some of your footage shows it getting close to tree branches.
I was going to ask the same question.
It does have avoidance, yes. It has worked really well and hasn't been hung up :)
