I think one of the most impressive part on stage design are those the automated elements, most of them are invisible for the audience but the make the show runs safer, and in some acts become the most exciting parts
When watching shows like Cirque ‘s, a lot of times I’ll watch the “behind the scenes” stuff, like a stagehand getting ready to move into place, or something not important happening up at the top of the tent on the ceiling, etc. A lot of times I’ll watch the show from a technical point of view rather than enjoying the artistic theatricality of it all. It just fascinates me how many things are going on at the same time to make the show work.
