I think this finals and the next few seasons of personal success and team failure are what lead to Kobe learning how to get his and facilitate the offense and make the team better. He was always a very good player but he truly became great between this series and the Boston series they lost.
Aaaaaaand this is why Kobe wasn’t as good as MJ. It’s all about attitude and leadership and Kobe didn’t have it like MJ. But I came to respect Kobe’s game towards the end of his career when he finally became a team player.

Credit to the Pistons incredible defense but our Laker team was limping at that point. Malone had an injured knee and just wasn’t effective or even playing that many minutes after game 1. The supporting cast was just not there.

Kobe and Shaq are a much better duo than Jordan and Pippen, Jordan and Pippen lost in 6 games to a healthy Magic team in 1995, they needed Rodman to bail them out in 1996 (Horace got injured in the 1996 ECF)

Mj had to learn this lesson too, it took Kobe longer but he also learned it and is why the lakers went to 3 straight championships and won 2 of those.
