  • Grumpy Gardener entered the Dragons Den in 2021 and refused to hand over his business profits to any of the Dragons. The Wheelbarrow booster continues to enjoy sales from customers across the UK and 11 other countries.

    GreanBase Ltd. is unique. We are a gardening tool manufacturer managed by genuine real-life gardeners. Director, Mike Smith has over 35 years landscaping experience and has continuously produced problem saving inventions in order to help himself and others in the gardening trade. Mike’s best known invention to date is the wheelbarrow booster. This garden tool was invented 20 years-ago to assist in reducing the number of trips to the compost heap.
    GreanBase was formed in March 2011. Following the success of the Wheelbarrow Booster on national TV shows such as The Alan Titchmarsh Show and Dragons Den in 2012, the company became inundated with calls from fellow gardeners wanting to share their own designs and ideas. With the ability to bring other peoples inventions to reality, the Grumpy Gardener Range has been born.
    The Grumpy Gardener is a symbol for new and innovative gardening tools made to a high standard and manufactured in the UK whenever possible. We insist that all gardening tools are long lasting and are designed with the soul purpose of solving those little problems in the garden.
    In less than 12 months GreanBase had exported the wheelbarrow booster to over 11 different countries. We have also taken progressive steps to build strong links with local horticultural colleages and university design students to help create the Grumpy Gardener Range. We will continue to bring innovative gardening tools to market..

    Good for him, but he should've just defended himself and not tried to snap back. The man doesn't like to be bullied, but you have to be able to negotiate. With a little finesse, he probably would've gotten a deal at 35% and massively boosted his business.
