What a tour de force! Such sustained virtuosity! Such variety of timbre, tempo and dynamics! I'll have to look up "La Prophete" by Meyerbeer, get the context seeded and the musical theme grounded in me. Liszt was obviously moved to do a great deal of work with this, and so were you. Thank you!
This piece has some paralells to the sonata b minor for piano. In "Ad nos" we also have one big 30 minute piece in only one movement. Liszt uses here a theme from the opera "La Prophete" composed by Giacomo Meyerbeer. If you listen closely, you will see that this huge Fantasy and Fuge is only built with this Choral theme which you can hear at the beginning of the piece. This is absolutely stunning when you think about the big amount of characters and composition styles in "Ad nos". But the technique of "Theme transformation" was a very common style of composition for Liszt in the mid of the 19th century, also in his Symphonic Poems for example. It is in my opinion an absolute giant of Liszts work and not many composers were able to do this like him, maybe nobody...
Bravo! I love it!

Thank you very much! Indeed, this is one of Liszts many absolute masterpieces! Some similarities to the Sonata b minor and to the Symphonic Poems.
A real fantaisie ,very nice ,something different for a change,
