Thomas Youngblood (the lead Guitarist) is from Tampa Bay, Florida, as well as most of the band. Roy Khan (the singer) is from Norway. The band itself is American Power metal with European influences. Glad you guys like it!! They are one of my favourite bands!! :)
Never heard of these guys in my life, but based on this, I like it. Guess I have to hear more. Either way, love that you guys are opening up all of this off-kilter stuff. Based on just this one song, it could go either way. You can clearly hear the 80s rock ( which I mostly hated) sounds like these guys may be pretty solid. Peace out and keep killing this shit! Always looking for rappers to react. 😉
Not to take anything away from Tommy - he’s been phenomenal since joining after Roy left... but the prime... the PEAK of Kamelot was with Roy. Khan has one of the most beautiful and epic voices in all of metal. This entire DVD was NUTS by the way. If you guys enjoyed this song, please take a moment, reaction or not, to listen to the rest. “Elizabeth 1/2/3” is a masterpiece.
Kamelot + Roy = forces of nature!! all of their songs are brilliant so suggestions are a lot; but if you dogged this one, check out "Karma - live" with Roy.
What makes Kamelot stand out is their amazing lyrics and vocals. Symphonic Metal is mostly dominated by female lead singers, which is great don’t get me wrong, but it’s so uncommon for male leads to sing in the same style that it’s just amazing sounding when it happens.
Anymore suggestions from Kamelot? Yes, The Haunting, Also, if you're interested in more power metal/power metal-ish stuff, 'Learning to Fly' by Stratovarius and 'Sacred' by Blind Guardian.
Kamelot is such a fantastic band. They have so many amazing songs that I don't even know where to start when it comes to suggestions. So I'm just going to give my favorite song when Roy fronted the band and my favorite with Tommy fronting the band; March of Mephisto (Roy) and Citizen Zero (Tommy). And if you're looking for something new to check out, I'm going to suggest Iconoclast by Symphony X or This Godless Endeavor by Nevermore. As always, this was a great video and I enjoyed watching it. I hope you both have a wonderful day!
Roy kahn is the original singer from Kamelot, but he quit the band and his replacement is Tommy Karrevic. You heard Tommy sing in Sacremony. Both singers are awesome! Seen both live many times and I have no favorite. Love them both. The drummer is Casey Grillo. He quit the band as well and is replaced by Alex Landenberg. Both nail the drums quite well! The keyboard player is Oliver Palotai. Still a member of the band and husband to Simone Simmons from Epica. On the guitar is the founder of the band...Thomas Youngblood. He is the mastermind behind the band. And on the base...there we have Sean Tibbets. He bounces around the stage without getting tired. If you ever have the chance to see them live I really would recommend it. Seen them live 15 times now and they are the reason I started listening to metal. My alltime favorite band (together with Nightwish)
@@tessatiemessen89 The bass player in this video was Glenn Barry, in 2009 he left the band and was replaced by Sean Tibbets, who was familiar with the band because he had been the bass player before Glenn Barry.
Maiden are the godfathers of the Euro-style power metal, so there is much overlap in fans and style, with that signature element of the vocal melody baked into the instrumentals, allowing the crowd anywhere to sing along without knowing the words or the language. Forever is verrrrry prototypical of the genre, as you noted, despite its US roots... although sampling the classical Edward Grieg melody is very hip-hop... metal too, for that matter )))) If you liked the style and energy, you'll probably enjoy Hallelujah by Beyond the Black
The band is from Tampa🤔...Idk when this video is from, but up till 2011 the vocalist was Norwegian😁👏...however the vocalist thats in the band now is swedish...so yeah...there IS definitely an accent😂😅
March of mephisto - with the video It is a song part of the concept album The Black Halo based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust, part 2. The album Epica is based on Faust part 1. The lyrics may be in latin, italian and english. Faust was released in 1808. Johann (1749 - 1832) was a poet, writer, scientist and a very important figure in the history of europian literature
Been on a Kamelot kick again and I can't stop singing 'Karma'. You guys should check it out if you liked this one. And FYI, if you see an unfamiliar face doing Kamelot reactions, they got another singer to replace Roy after he left. He's a great vocalist, and you might dig it, but it's too similar to Roy without the character and grit in the vocals (like every other Power/Symphonic Metal vocalist). Nothing against the other guy, but he just doesn't do it for me. That character/grit, and range, together with the amazing instrumentation just make Kamelot. I could mistake them for almost any other Power Metal band without that voice. Great instrumentalists are pretty common in the genre, but I will say Youngblood (guitarist) really stands out, as well.
You guys are really awesome... new fan of yours here... I'm actually a metalhead but love watching your reaction on rock/metal videos. I would like to suggest an old Nu Metal/Funk Metal songs in the 90's like "Pardon Me" or "A Certain Shade of Green" by Incubus. More power to you guys
Kamelot is a Power Metal Band from Tampa, Florida..Formed by Thomas Youngblood ... The singer in the forever video is Norwegian singer Roy Khan .. The new vocalist is Swedish singer Tommy Karevik ... The keyboard player Oliver Palotai is married to Simone Simons of Epica... Epica takes there name from a Kamelot album..Tommy Karevik is married to Kobra Paige from Kobra and the Lotus ... a lot of the Symphonic and Power Metal bands are connected in some way either by marriage, Long friendships, even being a past member of a certain band ...
While this is the first song that I ever heard from Kamelot and it's what made me a big fan, it's by far one of the songs that doesn't really showcase roy khan (the vocalist on this song) at all, vocals wise this is one is pretty simple compared to something like Elizabeth. Roy Khan is super talented and a lot of people say/think that the rest of the band held him back and that's why the band isn't as big or as well known as it could be. That said I've had kamelot in my lists for the last 15 years or so.
Wanna hear the only Metal band that made the Montreal's Jazz Festival? This is Voivod, with a special "Stanley Kubrick style" version of the song "The End Of Dormancy": ua-cam.com/video/QN23sROGbqo/v-deo.html
I remember I didnt like Kamelot the first time I heard them. Thought the singing was a bit meh. But then one day I hear The Black Halo and was mesmerized. One of my favorite power metal bands.
You need to check out Roy's former band Conception which not long ago reformed and put out a great cd this year. I would suggest an older song, live version of Roll the Fire. This Kamelot drummer Casey Grillo is now the drummer for Queensryche. I saw Kamelot several times with this line up and also Roy's other band Conception. Both killer live bands!
Oh, Conception's "Roll the Fire" from 1993 in Germany, it's such a Masterpiece! Also "Parallel Minds" from that same concert... I wasn't even born by that time but I wish I could have been there.
Not sure if y’all have seen this yet but I think it’d be cool to see your reaction to Denzel curry’s cover of Bulls on Parade. One of the best covers of a rock/metal song that I’ve ever listened to by far

Great reaction guys! I would like to recommend Sleep Token - Dark Signs. I can’t actually describe their genre. A little bit of progressive and it has an awesome singer. The band is kind of a mystery.
Lol. I will say what I want. I must confess I have grown to love it more then gataroade I think it takes a connoisseur ( yes I googled the spelling ) of pedialyte to recognize the bottle when you see it. Lol.

Symphonic Metal? lol

There is a reason roy khan is referred to as the voice of god.
A musical delight is “How Many Tears” from Helloween’s live performance at Wacken in 2018, some great on-stage chemistry and masterful musicianship
