@@ramanujanvenkatraman8540 The IB is tough. No denying it. That first term in Upper Sixth is brutal because of so many IAs. However, I honestly think that with the right attitude, and the right subject choices for you, anyone can get an excellent grade (42+). The main thing I would say is that the curriculum and study program directly corresponds to what is going to be on tests and final exams, so as long as you pay attention during lessons and do homework’s to the best of your abilities, there is no reason why you shouldn’t do fantastic in every single exam. I cannot stress this enough, homeworks are SO important, they are the main source of evidence for your teachers to base your predicted grades (on top of exams) so it is crucial that you do them well and hand them in on time. However, it is inevitable that you will sometimes just not be able to do them for the due date, which is why it is so important to maintain good communication with your teachers. Another important thing is your approach to studying. What differentiates the IB from other programs is that memorisation alone will not take you far. What is important is genuinely understanding everything on the course, and if you don’t, at least note it down so you can catch up during holidays. Essentially, study smart, not hard. I honestly wouldn’t stress that much about the IB, as long as you stay on top of your workload and limit procrastination, you will genuinely cruise through your first year. Second year gets a bit tougher, but the main thing to remember is that even though you have IAs to do, it is important to keep up with studying for your course. On reflection I have to say qualifications are not 'all that'. They're a stepping stone to your next exam. Only later will a qualification lead directly to employment. There are many ways into employment, so if you mess up at school or in your GCSE's all is not lost. I've learned more than anything else in life you have to be flexible in your approach and attitude. And yes, I know that's easier said than done.
I totally agree with you, exams and qualification are not everything, and it's important that everyone understand that there are so many different routes that lead to careers. I was having this conversation with a friend the other day, who explained to me that rather than forcing up university application rates, we should be making sure that everyone knows the options available to them, before forcing them down the university pipeline, because it's no the be all and end all. Totally agree with you!
first of all, be honest okay, ib is easy compared to oxford... i'm a first year math major at MIT and i can tell you that it's useless (?) When you are parred with IMO Medalists, competition winners, i need to work more and harder than them, but they also work hard, so i wonder when i'll be there?

Hey! I'm about to start Y13 and currently writing my extended essay. I just wanted to know if you have any specific tips for economics HL because I revised for that subject the most during our end-of-year mock exam and it ended up being my worst grade (I got a 4 when I've been getting 6s all year). My teacher still kept my prediction of 6 which was a relief but I'm more worried now because my teacher often writes his own tests rather than use actual exams and often I'm not entirely sure how to tackle past papers i see online. Also in geography they completely changed our syllabus so we have a new syllabus and none of the past papers apply, what would you recommend I do apart from the specimen paper (that I've already done)?
wow this is so helpful! I also have troubles with English and was taking notes like crazy but missing key points in the syllabus. Thanks for the advice, Mani!

Hi Mani! Thank you so so much for doing this video, you literally inspired me so much😭💙✨
Thank you so much, it really means a lot for you to say that ❤️
Wow awesome video, thank you for for all the amazing tips; it’s obvious that you really care about helping others which is fantastic. I wish you all the best, and I genuinely hope that your channel continues to bloom wonderfully 😊.
A very informative and helpful video. Thank you! Hope all of the students reading this are doing amazing in Math !!
The most helpful video about IB that I have ever found thank u
Thanks for the advice. It is nine months until I take my exams and I only just noticed how poorly I did during the first year.
I’m gonna do well on this programme 😊
me: *is terrible at math*
also me: *does AA math HL* i'm fine guys i swear
Geez, I'm starting IB in Yr12 this September and this video just made me extrememly f**king scared and unconfident!!!!!!!

Habibah haha I’m glad that I could help x Good Luck with the IB!
first of all, be honest okay, ib is easy compared to oxford...
i'm a first year math major at MIT and i can tell you that it's useless (?) When you are parred with IMO Medalists, competition winners, i need to work more and harder than them, but they also work hard, so i wonder when i'll be there?
Gold 999 Why you took math major in mit?
@@enkhmendbatbold621 that's a mystery for me too... :(
why'd i chose math major? because i was good at math (in high school) and i do love math...but now, i still love math but i'm not good at it anymore (sure, i'm not the worst in the class, but you know :D
You're seriously amazing!!
im watching this in pre-ib :(( highkey scared but i know it’s going to prepare me for university and make essay writing and give me life skills that ap won’t!
I’m considering doing the IB in India but it kinda looks intense like wow I thought CBSE was hard this is another level
Instead of revising for my english test tomorrow, I’m watching this.
today i accept nothing can stop me.
in y13 and ib, slightly dying with med app. this video has been very helpful!!! thank youuu :)
Thank you so much I’m going to the IB program soon. I really appreciate these tips because, I know I’ll keep coming back
Lucky, going to Oxford
I also did IB. It was a waste of energy and time for nothing. I remember burning my diploma because it wasn't as helpful as I was told. The IB diploma is good for one thing............................ toilet paper.
can you make a vid about physics and math at HL? Would really appreciate it. Tips and what to do and what not to do.
Thanks!!!!
Keep up the great work Mani! Plz make a video regarding English (SL) cuz that's something difficult to excel, and a proper guidance is necessary for a perfect 7 score:)
Bruh watching this videos everyone's advice is choosing subjects you like but my school doesn't let us choose...
I'm gonna start IB this august and I'm so scared, wish me luck!
The beginning isn't too bad ; )

This is so great, I have the same subjects as you.
Hey, thank you for this video, Mani! It helped me calm down, as I am starting my first year in IB in a few days. Do you have any specific advice on HL math? Because everyone is scaring me about it and I am not that strong in mathematics. Hope to hear from you!
regards,
ram
good luck!
