Testing The YAESU FTDX101MP on Amplitude Modulation AM - 10M DX Across The Atlantic

Awesome signal on 29MHz AM from Milford, Massachusetts. K1ETP Rich peaking at 5/9+10db on my FTDX101MP.
I have made AM contacts with this radio on 20M into Europe and have been trying to catch some on 10 Meters. I am interested in seeing how the FTDX101MP performance is on AM. This contact was absolutely fantastic and possibly one of the clearest sounding DX signals that I have heard on any mode.
my verdict is: Maybe the radio should have been given 100W rather than 50W on AM.
The findings are: it is brilliant on receiving and after the report received this time on 10m it is an excellent transmission with great audio from the M-70 desk mic. With a half decent antenna it seems 50W is plentiful.

You should Tim they are absolutely brilliant. I cannot begin to tell you everything but I will say best receive I have ever heard. work amazing on all modes and 200 watts is handy. Since I bought it I have not used my HF AMPs at all I have two currently awaiting until conditions drop off in a few years. The radio itself is so good that you hear everything and when you hear them with the great audio transmitted out and 200w you usually work them. My FT-1000mp is brill but this FTDX101 is like a comparing it to dialup Vs 5G High speed broadband. The difference on receive especially when dealing with noise is the best I have no doubt. filters are amazing and so many other options to null out interference, Well worth the money. should last me 20 years. lets hope we do. 73 Tim have fun and great videos from your mobile, very nice indeed.

Amp1 seems to help on any of the FTDX range, but congrats Simon as always.

I haven't really tried AMP 2 as it has Been good with AMP 1. yes like you said the range have the same RX which is defiantly decent. Thanks buddy, have a good day best 73. cheers!

Any idea of the AM TX bandwidth capabilities? I had a FT-2000 which will talk 4k, I have a FTDX5000 which talks about 3k, I've been playing with a 710 which is also about 3k. I'm guessing the new 101 is probably the same. But that FT-2000 sure did talk...

I would probably say 3k but I have been making lots of AM DX with good reports on it so very good indeed on AM
