Numb by Disturbed is great. A bit slower, but still rocks soooo hard. The Meaning of Life is hands down, the greatest Disturbed song. Dropping Plates is a banger, too
This song actually transitioned into "Down with the sickness" on the album. So for about 30 seconds after the end, some faint noises started to swell before dropping into the iconic drums from Down with the sickness. One of those added details that make it worth listening to whole albums at least once through.
It was released in 2000... 23 years ago. It was Disturbed's FIRST music video introduction on MTV from their debut album 'The Sickness'. The band recalled it was their first video shoot and they had to do take after take performing the song... but Disturbed had a show the next day and they said they could barely move because they were in pain 😫 David Draiman (vocals) said he wrote 'Stupify' against racism because he was not allowed to have 'relations' 😁w/ a latino woman (Draiman is Jewish) over objections of their respective families.
I just found Disturbed on your first video of Sound of silence. I'm 58 and now listening to all their albums. My favorite song so far is Indestructable, hopefully you will play that one day.
Hi Maggie, there is a sad reason for this song. Here's the quote of Wikipedia: "The song is against racism and discrimination. The song is about a relationship Disturbed's vocalist David Draiman had with a Latina girl. He said her family didn't approve of him because of his different ethnicity" Keep up with the great reactions 🙂 Chris
If anyone is curious, the word he's saying during the bridge (I think, idk the technical term) is "tefached", a Hebrew word meaning "you will be afraid".
One of my favorite bands of all time. I see them live as often as possible. Already went to one concert this year and flying out to Chicago in August to see them again. So many great songs. Vengeful One and Stupify are probably my two favs. Rock on!
Yeah! Lol😅 I love to see people find Disturbed! Such a massive part of my 20s! I knew immediately what so many people are discovering! David (and Disturbed) a massively phenomenal talent.
David Draiman and the entire band are so versatile when doing their songs.. on the other spectrum is the song Hold on to Memories , that really showcases his vocal talents and the bands ability so showcase their softer side .
I was 19 years old when this came out 2 decades and some change ago. I bought the cd (lulz) for Stupify, popped it in my car, set off down the road...and got OH-WAH-AH-AH-AH at some point. After checking the car for an angry monkey, I listened to it over and over.
Love stupified, but you brought back memories by mentioning the song "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco. As a kid in the 80's I remember rushing to recording that song onto a tape off the radio. Maggie I hope you will check out the video for Disturbed's version of Stings song "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" You won't regret it
This whole CD is excellent. You should, do a reaction video to this whole CD because we can see that you love this, and most likely you will not be disappointed...
@@maggiereneemusic This was an exceptional song and exceptional reaction and needed to be Thanked. And I am once again struck by the professional look of your framing intro and outro in the black jacket.
Disturbed is hands down my favorite band. One of my favorites is "The Game". Also, Stricken is a good one, also Prayer....OMG I could go on and on they have so many. LOL. OH! and also they have a brand new album out too called Divisive. Bad Man, Hey You, "Don't Tell Me" (A ballad with Ann Wilson from Heart)....just a few good ones. The entire CD is top notch.
Surprised no one has recommended The Light or Hold on to Memories. Both are incredible songs and show more of the variation and depth that Disturbed can truly show!
You said "Holy cheesemuffins" at least 5 times in this reaction, that's how you know it's a really good song :) Stupify was the first single Disturbed ever put out. That whole first album is amazing. As for recommendations... Disturbed sure has a lot of good songs you can pick from! Not sure which ones you already reacted to (it has been a while since the last one indeed :) ), but some of my favorites are Stricken, Voices, Inside the Fire and The Vengeful One. Also, they make beautiful covers - obviously, you already know their version of The Sound of Silence, but there's also their cover of Shout! by Tears for Fears, their cover of Genesis' Land of Confusion, and (not very known, but one of my favorites) a cover of U2's I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
At 2:42 (or anytime the chorus plays really), he says "See but i dont get it, dont you think maybe we can put it on credit? Dont you think it can take control and I dont let it?" Its such a mouthful but its still awesome to listen to 🙂
It's funny you mentioned the interlude, his training as a Cantor comes screaming through in that section. I mean it's very clear his training through his faith shining there, I actually always loved that he incorporated those roots into their music. The older I get the more I appreciate it.
I'm enjoying the video! I can't help but chuckle when you're saying that you can't/don't understand what he's saying. Though - being fair - when I first heard this I wasn't 100% either but now after years and years it sounds plain and is easy to understand.
so this song is alot older then that. this song was on the album "the sickness" which was released in october of 2000. the whole album was fantastic. it was disturbed's first album and one of two they recorded as a band with their original bassist steve "fuzz" kmac.
the one song that really hooked me in the past and that i listened to in a loop was "inside the fire". still one of my favorite songs even though i dont listen to much of disturbed anymore.
this was their first single they ever put out. Fun Fact: the song the guy in the vid for 'Voices' by them is listening to in his headphones is this song. I think you should check out that one too. I just tried looking it up and I think 'tefached' (idk how to spell in Hebrew😂😂😂) means 'you will fear'
i would recommend The Night, as well as Dropping Plates by Disturbed, and the audition for Karise Eden in Australia The Voice, i cant get over her voice
If you want a complete 180 from this, that will show off an early clean vocal try their song Darkness. There's no video for it but it's very smooth and shows off great breath control.
I got this album and listened to it relentlessly at work, because it's just song by song, incredible. Once I had kids and when they were little i would play this album from time to time, and both my kids loved it. Down with the sickness is a big meme song, but Voices is one of the other songs in the start of the album sequence, and it's not been reacted too as much.
If I remember correctly, this was their very first music video. Not sure what year exactly the video came out, but the song itself came out in 2000, so I’m assuming the video is about that old too. You absolutely need to keep having Disturbed on the channel. The singer David is incredibly talented and it shows in pretty much every song
This was actually released in 99 and it was their first single and music video, the song is about the singer David was dating a Latina girl in high school and her parents didn’t approve of her dating a Jewish boy
I always loved the guitar tone/riffs and the weird little sequenced 'popcorn' synth thing (I think the drummer did the synth / programming IIRC) on this song. Those two little elements add a lot to this song that made it stand out for me back then even though a lot of the "nu metal" bands were dabbling in odd guitar tones and electronic elements
Disturbed's debut album was a phenomenal record ('The Sickness') in 2000 - it has sold over 4 million copies in the US... Some of the best songs on that album: 'The Game'... 'Down with the sickness'... 'Voices'... 'Want'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 Their 2nd album ('Believe') charted at #1 in 2002 (despite the music video for 'Prayer' being banned on MTV because it showed buildings collapsing in an earthquake... This was after the 9/11 attacks)... 'Believe' was different album and sold a bit less (2x platinum) but still had phenomenal songs - 'Awaken'... 'Remember'... 'Liberate'... 'Intoxication'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥 'Ten thousand fists' came in 2005, Disturbed's 3rd album... another #1 hit and sold 2x platinum in the US. Original bassist Steve 'Fuzz' Kmak was fired and John Moyer (bass) came in for that record... They scored a massive hit w/ the cover of 'Land of confusion' (by Genesis) as well as fan faves - 'Ten thousand fists'... 'Stricken'...🤘🤘🔥🔥
The part where you were talking aboit singing a Lebanese David is singing in hebrew תפחד (tefached) means be afraid. He is trained classically as a cantor
Slow conversion into a metalhead. In a few months, Maggie is gonna come back with a tattoo sleeve, choker and fishnets and be like "what's up bros? Ready for another banger reaction to disturbed?"
I do believe for your next reaction, you might wanna check out the song "Prayer". Shows us different "layers" to David's vocal abilities. If you are so inclined of course. 🙂 Enjoyed the reaction, GREAT work as usual. Enjoy your day! 🤘🤘🤘

For more vocal melismas and authentic middle eastern metal, do some Orphaned Land!
(They also have shows with belly dancers sometimes, pretty fun)
Prayer is a great song and a great video too
@@badguy62 I met David at a show in 99. I told him, if you're not praying to Jesus Christ, DON'T pray for me at all. He didn't like that
My suggestion is a Brazilian singer Gabriel Henrique singing "And I am telling you " Jennifer Hudson version. I believe you gonna love his voice.
This whole album is phenomenal ma'am
indeed
aye The Sickness is a top 5 album of the 00s

I love when albums do that.
Yeah, the best albums do that. Arcade Fire is great at that too.

You have to see STRICKEN by Disturbed!!! Classic jam!
It wasn't released 13 years ago, it was uploaded to UA-cam 13 years ago; this is actually from the year 2000.

Stupify is a classic. A great and old song to analise his voice is "Remember", totally recommended
I absolutely love your reaction it was almost like mine😂
I love this song this album is still one of the sickest ones they ever did
Yeah! Lol😅 I love to see people find Disturbed! Such a massive part of my 20s! I knew immediately what so many people are discovering! David (and Disturbed) a massively phenomenal talent.

This actually came out in 2000.... Saw them at 2001 Ozzfest .... Front row Camden, Nj
Funny over 2 years latter. Back to artist that first brought me to your channel and family 🤘🤘

I’ll be 65 in two weeks 😳. This has been, and still is my favorite Disturbed song. Actually, one of my top 10 favs of all time that isn’t YES or AIC
Amen
This has to be to the day the most badass disturbed song ever great reaction love your facial expressions

I got both coming.
1000000000%
Also a reason to fight
Yeah, this is more of their mellow stuff, but he sings them so beautifully😊

Love Disturbed glad to have a new album out by them!! Great job Maggie!!!
Yes please more disturbed!!! The light is amazing
The first time I heard this song was back in high school, when Goku caught Lord Slug's fist. And I loved it ever since.
First Disturbed song I ever heard back in 2000s (much music anyone?) The sickness is one of the few Disturbed albums I come back to.
Best way I’ve ever heard someone describe David Draiman’s voice:
Creator: Would you like the voice of an angel or a demon?
Draiman: Yes
At 2:42 (or anytime the chorus plays really), he says
"See but i dont get it, dont you think maybe we can put it on credit?
Dont you think it can take control and I dont let it?" Its such a mouthful but its still awesome to listen to 🙂
This was the first hit single I remember from Disturbed, back in 2000. It was kinda overshadowed by the 2nd one, 'Down With The Sickness'.
It's funny you mentioned the interlude, his training as a Cantor comes screaming through in that section. I mean it's very clear his training through his faith shining there, I actually always loved that he incorporated those roots into their music. The older I get the more I appreciate it.
I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for a Blue October reaction. ❤
David left Disturbed for a bit and formed another band called Device with the guitarist ( Virus) from the band Dope, check it out good stuff.
I love your reactions thanks for your work in this videos so tanks I that
Voices by disturbed is also a really good one! Highly recommend it!
6:00 he’s saying “tefached” which in hebrew is telling someone he should be afraid
This is still one of my favorites of theirs.
one of my favorite songs.
also if more disturbed is what you want check out "Liberate"

Definitely one of my favorite childhood bands.
This is the kind of thing from them my son told me to expect. I think he thought I wouldn't like it but I DO.
Omg. Love disturbed. Haven’t listened to them in a minute but going back thru all their albums after this! David draimans voice is so unique.
This song will always get me so amped!
You could go for a Disturbed ballad like Believe or something❤❤
Never got this song . But it jams and it’s bad ass. On every playlist lol
i would recommend The Night, as well as Dropping Plates by Disturbed, and the audition for Karise Eden in Australia The Voice, i cant get over her voice
It's been released for far longer than 13 years. That's just how long it has existed on UA-cam for.

My favorite Disturbed song ever.
Dope AF 🤘 Workout playlist must.
Hi Maggie you’ll love a lot of Disturbed’s songs from Prayer to Stricken
Disturbed is the first and only band who came on the scene and instantly became a fan and have all their albums

This is more like 23 years old, give or take. Hence, lots of energy. This was their first exposure.
I love "holy cheese muffins", sorry but I'm stealing it when trying to be PG around little ones. Thank you. Love your videos
I love that you are an opera girl but you can also rock out!!! I wish I could say the same about me but I just can't get into opera. You rule!!!!
Disturbed 3 this song is amazing
David Draiman comes family line of Cantors... he was trained young
The kid is coming "DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS" 😂
😈 DEMONIC POSSESSION
Stricken is a good one, especially if you liked this one.
Tefached is Hebrew. TE FA CHED pronunciation means be afraid. David Draiman also said he was lead canter singer and that was intentional for the song
Haven’t listened to Disturbed a lot but I do ❤ Sounds of Silence 🤓
"WITHOUT EQUAL CHEMISTRY WITHIN A BAND, THERE IS NOTHING"
This was actually released in 99 and it was their first single and music video, the song is about the singer David was dating a Latina girl in high school and her parents didn’t approve of her dating a Jewish boy
Animal is one of my favs it is so good

Those two little elements add a lot to this song that made it stand out for me back then even though a lot of the "nu metal" bands were dabbling in odd guitar tones and electronic elements
That's their breakout song, another great one on that album is "The Game" David goes nuts on those lyrics
if you want to hear his regular singing voice listen to Hold on to the memories
This song & Voices helped through a dark time when I found them in 2000~. I highly recommend "Another Way to Die".
I see Maggie, I see Disturbed, I click!
In my humble opinion, I think you should give their album “Believe”. I think it’s one of if not THE best album they have
You need to check out Prayer by Disturbed by far one of their best

Maggie with how much I can tell you like David I think you would like tea time interview the charismatic voice had with him.
You should check out their cover of "shout" it's called "shout 2000" awesome cover
Yep. Play this song daily. Gives me a fine reason to get stupid.
veeeery nice.
I just want to point out that the song is much older than 13 years. It came out in 2000.

I’ve always liked Ten Thousand Fists (in the air)
It is 20 years old
I think you would really like The Light by Disturbed. Definitely watch the music video version though.
You won't go wrong with Down With the Sickness. Voices is also a really good song
