Running the risk of being criticised by my comments, but it looks to me there are certain patterns in shoujo, probably driven by commercial strategies. I've noticed the art is plain and a tad dramatic with the huge shiny eyes , the protagonist is plain and shy and the love interest is a hunk and normally the girl is the one who at some point has an extra love interest. It's like they are written to please fantasies for the target public. I've noticed those patterns with shoujo. When the stories are more fleshed out and interesting in the romance genre, these are normally good romance shounen or josei. I prefer the shounen because they are funny. The good ones, not all.

@@Hiromi_SUgata exactly!!! there's someone who complained about this too under the video of some anime that are similar to this one, he said he doesn't like the guy for sleeping around and then someone replied to him saying "we are in 21st century" lol then since we are in a 21st century then why most of the fmc still need to be virgin even though they are in their 20s already and paired up with a playboy ml, plus wasn't it like this in ancient times where the women before marriage should be virgin while men don't need it and even invented concubines for them. see nothing changes. I'm annoyed at this kind of character who thinks he has the right to pursue a clean girl and be possessive of her when he couldn't even keep himself clean. in real life there's no such thing, playboys will always be playboys, and most cheaters are playboys.
