This is incredible, what I would love though is for when you click on a control point to have a gumball like rhino where you can click on the handle and enter a dimension. i.e. move the point back in z (y?) by 5mm. For OCD purpose to ensure you could move two handles the exact same amunt.
Very nice, exported an obj to Blender a few weeks about when I first noticed Plasticity. A few chamfers, bevels on a tea pot looking structure. Very impressed how clean it all was. Very keen to use Plasticity to replace Fusion360 modelling.
Hi Nik - Plasticity is a great program! But it lacks a few things: 1 - The solid mesh view is toggled on and off with a single keystroke. (Very important!), 2 - Cooperation with 3D SPACE MOUSE, 3 - The view cube should be bigger and not so small (e.g. with 4K Monitors) there may be a choice in the settings (small, medium and large), 4 - if you select any model in the main view (solid, plane or line), it is not selected on the left side of the model list (the opposite can be done, but you have to look for it). These are the 4 most important changes needed in this great program....there are still more things to change but these are the most important. if this is changed it will be the #1 CAD program in the world like Sketchup, Spark Design or Blender. Kind regards from Austria.
Now, hopefully importing and placing reference images as well as managing edgeflow for targeting complete Quad meshes in the end that could potentially be smoothed in polygon apps would be ACE!
hey Nick! ..would be awsome to have that feature in the final built where u just like in Blender can hold the shift key to move rotate, bevel things very precisely..
I wonder if it is possible to change curves after lofting over them (with the lofted shape updating, of course). I would use that for my modeling quite a bit, but couldn't manage to do it in Plasticity. Should I be able to do that? Thanks!
I always think about pridiction preview for CAD softwared just to push the creative opportunities more. For example if you have three curves connected program will automatically preview possible sweep options. User can turn on and off this feature in the settings. I think this might be herlpul to think m,utiple things ahead or missed possibilities :)
@@nickkallen1 ah, darn.. as heavy 3dsmax and after effects user it will surely take me a while to adopt to them.. but of course it can no harm to break with habits..
Hi,i have a question, how you see plasticity in future?Program like a moi3d but with better engine or you want create fusion +moi3d software?Or make something other than moi3d/fusion?
It will be a full featured solid modeler for connecting, and with fairly decent surfacing capabilities, like an "alias for dummies". We'll see what the future holds
Hello, Congratulations for this great work. Apart from bezier curves, is it possible to create spline curves? So that you can modify every node of the spline and place it in a specific position and impose tangency aswell , taht can be very convenient in some occasions.
I wonder how did you do the offset surface to create a bulged structure in the intro? After fillet the cube you selected the surface and cut the surface of the top pane. I know how to do it in fusion but how did you achieve it?
At 9:50 you mentioned directly working on CVs (on solids?), anyway, i understand this as the possibility - like in MOI3D to edit EVs/CVs on solid or a mesh/network and i'm wondering if that is planned for the future? SchwegerZarkov/Kuechenmeister Schweger already mentioned that in a comparison video between Plasticity vs MOI3D, Pros and Cons (»Plasticity 3D vs. Moi 3D | Surface Modeling Comparison | Pros and Cons of both Tools« at 1:53, ua-cam.com/video/xGYb6zqmVI8/v-deo.html) and he called this »vertice editing«.
1:58 As I see do you have a tool to create a curve projected from two views (Front, Top). It is possible to add an option to create a curve projected from three views (Front, Top, Side)? I do design handrails for staircases with profiles and I do receive the architect drawings with views from Front, Top and Side and believe it or not it's a pain in the ass to do manually a curve projected from three views. I will be glad to have such a tool.
Hmm I thought two views fully determines a curve so I don’t have an intuition how this would work. You maybe should post some reference material in the discord?
Amazing. Grateful for you to implement surface/curve editing into Plasticity :D Im very looking forward to seeing it being developed even further . :D :D :D Thanks a lot
Nick are you still looking for modeler testers for Plasticity? experienced designer/artist with regular/focused work in SW, F360, SpaceClaim, and Blender. please advise.
As much as I admire your efforts into building this wonderful 3D program, I much rather prefer 3Ds Max spline modelling or Blender's Pen Curve Tool. I usually start off with corners and then use Bezier curves to modify the curvature of the spline.
I can't remember being more exited about some new software than this; like a kid waiting for Father Christmas.
*excited

Simple, fast, easy ui thank for adding these features
Awesome! appreciate all of your hard work!
Nice work,i wait to see release version
Looks very cool
This is 8 months ago post & I'm still Happy all over! 😊 You & your team did an AWESOME job with Plasticity!! 💯%🫡

Keep up the great work mate, this looks very promising!
Great work Nick! I can't wait for the beta, you definitely have enough features for a 1.0 release.
Wow this is amazing
Add threading and knurling options too...and a section plane option like fusion...
And a blender / zbrush like clay like modelling part ...
This is awesome! :)
Take my money!

It would be cool to try. It is computationally expensive tho so it might not be feasible
@@nickkallen1 very understandable always efficincey first.

is there hope that there will eventually be a bezier type curve with two handles at each point to control the path's curvature?
I don’t think I will support that. Béziers are great in 2D but not 3D. Nurbs curves are really easy to use once you learn them

Can you create varying bevel width on the same edge of a cube?
How to access demo version or trial version of CAD Kernel parasolid/c3d lab
How to undo the Bezier on a curve, make it angular again ?

So that you can modify every node of the spline and place it in a specific position and impose tangency aswell , taht can be very convenient in some occasions.
The focus is on bspline curves as they are ultimately the most versatile
Hi ! Is there way ti change chortcut
i struggling to understand how to produce a Region from a curve, i'cant figure out why i can't do it sometimes..
Im brand new to plasticity ..I need a completge tutorial. with key caps showing your key commands
This is fuckin sick dude
Are you able to model with dimensions as well?

Oh. Just found it by guessing it and pressed O.
Is there a way to import curves and if so, what formats are accepted?
