$95....man those were the good old days lol. Here in Texas (Houston area) Mosins are upwards of $350-400 depending on condition. I've owned several. Never been that impressed with the accuracy and I've done all the mods you can think of on them. But at 100 yds one can easily fill up a 12" Shoot N C target all day from the bench and that is after all what it's designed for.

I bought an ex dragoon one on Atlantic for 499$, like the price is crazy! I was lucky it came with good bolt and fair stock. Though the cosmoline is tough to clean.

    Nice Mosin Nagant!
Out here in california ive been hearing mosin nagants are getting harder and harder to come buy at different gun stores and the supply is drying up quick. Just wondering if this has any validity of is it just hog wash?

I'm 6'3" with monkey arms too. I took that butt pad and hacked off the point to make it a flat vs. curved. Then I bought a rubber butt boot that slipped over everything and gave me an extra 1" or so length of pull. Perfect. I chopped mine to 16", 11deg crown. Threaded for AK74 brake. Turned the barrel down behind the threads for the front site collar from brass stacker. Turned the bolt down and had them add the safety ring. Ripped off the rear site down to the dove tail and added that slip on pic rail with set screws and integrated rear site. Topped it off with a scout scope. Popped an ammo sleeve on it. Free floated it. added some pic rail towards the front for a bipod, and after chopping the stock, I painted it textured sand color patio furniture paint. Attached the from of the surplus sling with paracord and simply reattached the rear part. Done. It's a tack driver and a fire breather. I think all in 350 including the rifle. Yeah it's worth it. Cheap ass ammo still. I hate feeding my AR10. She's an expensive bitch but a 1moa rifle so.......

That trigger shim really made my rifle a joy to shoot. I'd also really like a bent bolt for my Mosin but I want to keep it as original as possible since it's a bit more on the rare side being a hex 1926 all matching with the original soviet stamp. Yet whenever I try to look up where I can buy a bolt body or whole bolt I only ever find springs. Anyone know where I can buy a regular Mosin bolt? Bonus points if it's an Izhevsk manufacture.

Its almost too much to kill a deer for a 30 cal it's strong like a 30-06 and gives a new 30-30 size hole..it is heavy and holds that recoil down and you do feel this history in it! If it could only talk...its say buy be go.g dw t one if you still can this ain't one you want to pass over!

( SPIDER! This Easter Egg is for YOU! ) Yeah, "length of pull", that's right. Nothing to do with the fact that a Mosin will bruise your shoulder if all you're wearing is a tee shirt. One of my Mosin shooting buddies, let's just call him "Spider" (to protect his manliness), actually keeps a 2 lb. jar of Vagisil in his range bag. He swears by it, just rub it on your shoulder after five to ten rounds, and you're good for five more!

Fast forward to November 2023… I’ve seen some very marginal Mosin’s at gun shows this last summer selling… and they sell for $600.00 🙄… don’t get me wrong about this, I absolutely love my Mosin’s but $600? And I’ve seen PU rifles for $2,600… and they sell at those prices! No, Really! And the eBay bolt guy is now charging $90.00… but if you buy a bent bolt handle, just the handle is going to run around $200 or more on eBay… the Mosin thing is getting nutty!

I think the best thing one could do with their Mosin is install a muzzle brake. I had to send the barreled action to a gunsmith, but there are 'plug and play' brakes out there that should do the trick. My brake made it possible for me to shoot all day long and not bruise my shoulder. The Mosin kicks like a donkey. For the not so budget minded, CBRPS makes a very nice bullpup conversion kit that shortens the overall length of the rifle considerably..... around 300 dollars for the kit though, well worth it in my case. Thanks Matt for good advice on a great gun, as opposed to all the elitists out there that trash talk it.
