- Rogers Pass is one of the most epic backcountry skiing destinations in British Columbia. It’s just a short drive from Revelstoke and we had to check it out. We decided to summit Video Peak and send it through the untouched interior backcountry powder. Liquid Courage hot sauce is now for sale: send me an email at riseandalpine@gmail.com if you want some.

Great video. Nice to see you stepping out into bigger lines.
Two tips:
1. When ascending or descending in avalanche prone areas, keep your pole straps off your wrist. I noticed one strap was wrapped on your wrist while boot packing to Video Peak summit.
2. Double check helmet strap works and is attached. You’re fortunate not to have hit anything under the snow.
Stay frosty!
Great tips. I've been seeing people not running straps. Second nature to always wear them. Makes sense to keep them off!
Helmet strap was a big brain fart :(
Please drop a backcountry backpack video of what you pack and bring out!
Yo sweet Idea Stephen! I think I'll stack a lot of gear related videos this summer when I'm not riding!
I think his pack is full of peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches and HOT SAUCE....
Yeeew!
Thank you for making all of the whistler videos they have helped me with my vacation
glad I could help :)
Omg you did Rogers pass! Thanks for showing the process. I’ve been really wanting to Rodger pass. But I’ve never got to do it. Whoa whoa whoa hahaha.
So beautiful out there Sam! Worth a trip in the winter and the summer!
@@riseandalpine i'm gonna check it out next time I'm up there!!
Thats a good day!
One of my favourites of last years adventures... A breathtaking area.
Funny commentary, you were enjoying it! Have a great season @@riseandalpine
Love the music and great vid!
Thanks Will - can't beat a blue sky day in the backcountry!
Totally Awesome!!!
Thanks Chaz!
Incredible video! Getting excited about the South American season!
Thanks Danielle! Where are your favourite spots to ski in SA?
@@riseandalpine Well I was born and raised in Chile so all I know is here. I mostly skiEl Colorado and Valle Nevado which are in Santiago. Portillo isn't far and is incredibly beautiful. Then, further down south all the resorts are amazing as they are in Patagonia-type scenery. Basically lakes and Volcanoes everywhere. I've never skied in Argentina but Bariloche and Las Leñas are very well known and are also on my bucket list of places to go and ski.
this must be heavenly
best feeling in the world!
I’m in Kelowna airport right now watching this. We just did 7 days straight of skiing in Rogers. Now I don’t want to leave anymore 😭
7 straight days! WOW. What were your highlights?
The luge track at the bottom usually destroys my remaining leg power but you needed a chattery run off the resort.....nice work, nice turns off video, nice video of Video.
Dude. The luge track was exhausting. I was running off pure stoke and adrenaline still when I got to the resort hahaa.
New sound unlocked: HWAH HWAH HWAH
a jukebox hero!
ah yeah aye throwing the old yardy there lol how much for the dome cap spring sale? Such a sick area, sweet vid and also what's this about Liquid Courage being for sale It's aboot time!!
Some spring creatures were biting under the snow... who needs a helmet anyways!
Liquid courage is live! Tastes like trash, burns the ass and makes you ski fast.
LMK if you want to put an order in :)
How long did the skin up here take mate? I hiked balu last summer and just putting together plans for touring this year.
Yo Matt - I can't 100% recall but I think it was only 5 hours to the top maybe 6 total hours. We started a little to late in my opinion and it was fairly sunny. The aspect we skied was pretty sun exposed so my recommendation would be to start as early as possible so you're in climbing the top portion and skiing down when it's cool.
I wrote a full guide on my website if you want some more details for planning.

Hit me up with any other Q's brother.
@@riseandalpine it definitely sounded crusty near the end but the top was insane! Thanks mate I'll give it a read.
what do you use to skin. i have pivots and have heard that the daymaker is a good choice for touring. what stuff do u have for backcountry?
I use Duke PT 16's and Nordica Enforcer 115 skis. It's a heavy setup but I dig it and allows me to ski the resort hard on my big skis. You could always for for the cast system if you have pivots!
Just don't get tectons xD. The feel is great but the durability is not. Had multiple issues with the plastic.
Personally I think tech bindings are worth it. After skiing on some g3 zeds for a while when my tectons were broken, I couldn't tell the difference in ski feel (not that I'm an amazing skier, but I can at least ski most any marked run at WB). They are lighter, easier to use, and less prone to random plastic breakage. Not recommending those specifically (my shop doesn't like em). But plum, atk, and a few others have a great reputation for making excellent pin bindings which can last
What a view. I'm surprise not to see any snowmobile tracks..Amazing
It's a no snowmobile area in rogers pass I believe. Always a nice treat for us ski only guys!
Who tours with a Nordica 115 Free? 191 cms. 2 sheets of titanal. You are a beast.
Someone who loves to suffer LOL
how long did the hike actually take, was it hard?
It was fairly straight foward and I think it took maybe 4-5 hours up. The hardest part was the steep skinning before the bootpack.
@@riseandalpine Are you using Nordica Enforcer Unlimited and if so, the 98 or 104? You like ‘em? 4-5 hr hike/skin…damn. Looks totally worth it in these conditions. Skiing is life. 😊
@@philipgardiner2003 I'm running the 115 Enforcer Free's! Heaviest ski in the lineup. Always worth it for powder :)
Are you up on the mountain this weekend it’s so powdery and my dad kept sinking in the snow because his skis are only 92 cm 😂😂
LOL - I was up there. That would be some tough snow to ski on skinnier skis!
@@riseandalpine my dad has 92s we did boomer bowl (end of the day) and HAD 0 TRACKS I even have a video on my phone my dad was dying. BTW I was on a hunt for you I was looking everywhere 😂😂😂😂
Is it possible to get to the trailhead from Revelstoke without a car?
I've actually got no idea. I'm sure there has to be a shuttle service to the visitor centre. Pop a ride or a ski touring facebook group could be a decent option as well
Do you do avi tests ever or just rely on the reports?
Edit: I see now this has been ski’d
We always assess the snow and it's always a great idea to dig pits. Theres no better report than what you see and feel in the field. Since forecasts are so broad you can never 100% rely on them but they allow for a great starting point!
Can I rent skis like that? What are they called?
Alpine Touring Skis. You should be able to rent them and the avalanche gear required to safely get out! If you've never been in the backcountry I'd recommend an avalanche course first or to venture off with a guide!
@@riseandalpine awesome. Thank you. I will look into an Avalanche course.
I love your videos. I love your attitude you make me laugh so much. thank you.
I’m planning a trip this May, I’m an intermediate skier but I still have a lot to learn I was wondering if you can do some lessons with me and wife, and also guide me which hotel is good to stay in, please let me know if you interested…
Thank you again for your videos…!!
Hi Shimon,
Sounds like an awesome trip you have planned. Unfortunately I don't have any spare time to do guiding :(. Hopefully my videos and blog posts can help you navigate the mountains.
I don't know much about whistler hotels to be honest, maybe someone in the comments can help?
Have Fun!
Ok. thank you anyway..
have fun
peel and squeal
Rob always says 'Rip it and grip it' i'm kinda liking 'peel and squeal' hahaha
what can you say about your crush? cinematic of skiing
That sounds about right! I'm deeply in love with the mountains!
One of my best days of touring ever! ua-cam.com/video/oCBUthAecfw/v-deo.html
Looks like perfect snow dude!
