Its awsome to see a no bullshit 4x4 channel no spending 10 minutes talking up how hard some rock step is, just driving it and moving on to the next part keep up the good work mate
@@defender90orkney9 your nailing it mate this is pretty much the only channel i can stand watching these days i reckon ive seen pretty much all your vids since ive been stuck at home after i stacked my harley. Gets me keen get to get back out on the tracks. Might see you out one day, have a good one mate
Great video, no talking too much, letting the vehicles do the talking for themselves. You won a new subscriber. Kudos to the Defender 90 from Zimbabwe🇿🇼
This vid really highlights the difference between a car that’s had a lot of thought put into it’s capability during the build VS a car built to look and sound cool. Nice work.
I think there is a bit more to it, The Defender was on "weekend tyres" both the 79's were on daily driven tyres. It's really hard to go past Treps with beadlocks and single digit air pressure. Plus I don't think you'll find anyone who thinks the toyota Elockers are suited to this type of work :) I would love to get a set of air lockers at some stage. You can boil the billy some days while you wait for the front locker to come on in the 79.
@@stephenh7965 True that Leaf sprung duel Cab 79s are only good for touring they are just too heavy need a coiled single cab 79 on treps for those sort of tracks
Those land druisers doesnt have enough ground clearance and the tires looks tiny when compare to the bigger and much agressive tire on the defender, but nice video by the way , I really love those v8 diesels even at idle they sound sooooo good toyota always do their engine noise well
@@defender90orkney9 Definitely, I have been out with James a few times now and it's rare to find a young guy who is trying to learn lines as opposed to more revs and smashing it up stuff.
@@defender90orkney9 true! And its gonna be a wet as week. That sandy 79 on 35s? It took a fair bit of winch to get 33s up last time and i havent invested in bigger yet.
Sweeeeeeet. That's some great image stabilization whatever you're shooting with. What is the 90 like to drive there and back on the paved roads with that setup?
Awesome, the Defender definitely made a lot of that look easy. Only one thing made me wince, that was the guys trying to get cool camera shots getting too close to the winching car - especially James, was it? Ducking under the winch line while it was in use! No cool camera angle is worth the risk! I did a big hill at Wombat on Sunday, and only on 31's I was skull dragging the Disco up the hill (not that there was any grip on the wet clay haha!) - 3hrs 20 mins to travel 2.5km ;-)
Cracker of a video. Clearly shows the benefit of coils over leafs. Defender did it so easily. I do like the sounds of the Toyo V8, but after a while I just love the tick over of the Puma letting the suspension do all the work.
The defender def made it look easier. The suspension just looks supple. The tojos have awful flex. One other thing - Ellis track isn’t normally this dry is it?
You said "front locker" alot! I think my front Torsen locker works a thousand times faster then most people's brains. I think Ford has it right. Rear elocker and front Torsen locker.

Completely agree
You're not talking about 4WD24/7 are you. All they do is foot to the floor and break things, and they call that technical driving.
Great video, good to see how the vehicle responds to the track and the conditions and your thought process to overcome them. Awesome.
I'd say Defender for the win, but the 79s ace you for sound!
Stabilization is great, and a fit bugger to keep running up those hills! Looks dry as a bone for Ellis!
love seeing you guide the sandy 79 up. shows how skilled knowledgeable you are at 4wding. cant wait to bump into you one day on the tracks

I know the 79's wheel base is an issue but this really looked like tires and experience to me. Awesome video guys! Keep up the good work. Please.

My thoughts aswel lol

everyone doesn't start out a pro, the more wheeling the better you get :)
I started out with a series 2 landrover no lockers, no lift. And learnt how to drive . As you say he will get better
Sandy 79 all the gear no idea
Very nicely done vid. Ellis tracks changed a fair bit in 12 months, might have to go looksy

Damo, the 90 is like a spider - it sticks to anything. Well done mate (GONE Offroad 4WD from Insta).

I'll be scared to drive the Land Cruiser they build for flat land for the farms
That first few minutes going up the hill.....
Are you filming that with a drone...?
From a vehicle in front...? It works well. It’s a great complement to the stationary camera working. Overall, another great vid...! 👍😊
Another fantastic video mate.
Nice trucks. Nice landy. ❤👍
Hey orkney are you running out of steam on the 37s with the 4.3 cwp on the road? If you were doing it again would you go 4.7s? Are the diffs pegged?
Even being English, I couldn't care less which one was best, you all liked like you had a great time 👍
sick video love the 79.
great vid. i saw your landy the other day in south bank, looks mean.

Why am I feeling seasick watching this?
So a 79 series like that with ps ! Lost your licence or rich parents ??
work hard.
Defender sounds like it's hamster is going "I think I can, I think I can".

How much does the human drone cost per hour? Good filming
Was that just after Scooby had the new turbo put in by Boothy?
Defender90 Orkney yeah ok was Steve happy with it?
That white LC is in dire need of some bigger tires
defender for sure💪💪
Why the hell is the dude in the shorts squatting UNDER the winch cable at 53:51!?!
Defender takes it hands down.

LAND ROVER DEFENDER IS THE BEST ALL THE WAY!!! THE BEST 4X4XFAR!!! :D
Probs not worth hitting this with only 33s aye
315/75r16 or taller for this track.
