Just saw Martin Sheen interview , he was asked to play this role of Gary Powers . He said the script wasn’t up to snuff . He wished he could’ve played it .

At 10:05 you can see the shadow of the ladder he used to jump off of to simulate his parachute landing.
You can actually see part of the ladder itself for a couple of seconds. Bottom right corner of the screen.
