Didn't you watch to the end? I said there was plenty of open brood on one of the top frames. BTW weeks later all 5 frames up above were capped brood side to side. They have been moved into 2 8 frame mediums and are thriving.

Ive been wondering where you got those neat black plastic hive tops? Did you invent those of of something you repurposed? They really seem to keep the rain off and protect the wooden ware well.

Okay found out the answer after reading comments on your other videos. Those are concrete mixing trays and they fit 8 frame hives. Too bad because I am ten frame hives and five frame nucleus hives.

Different manufacturers different sizes. Some will fit a ten frame pretty well. I would take a stick cut to the correct width for a 10 frame hive and set it inside and see where it hits the sides. If more than half way down you are good.

OK, I have to ask. What did you spray on your legs?

Sorry, I missed this question. I sprayed white vinegar mixed with a little creosote tar from the funnel of the smoker. (liquid smoke) The important part is the white vinegar.

Hey Rich this is Wally all the cross cone that you put in there and all the bad stuff in the bottom can you give them about 48 hours done a good job of drawing a cone out in the top box due to the fact of all the cone that's in the bottom I would guess most of it's not cone oriented to a degree or should I say s e l l oriented would it not be a good idea just to rotate that bottom cone out and replace it with good wax Foundation

Hi Wally, the only thing wrong with your premise is the time frame. Replace 48 hours with 2 weeks and it would be a solid plan.
Now what actually happened is that under pressure for space to lay and store resources they took that funky comb and redeveloped it to such a degree that when I moved them from 3 nuc bodies into 2 8 frame bodies I didn't bother with changing out any of the comb. They were later merged with a hive that swarmed out from being honey bound. Now come November, when I reduce space back down to 2 boxes, I will evaluate that comb again. If it isn't full of brood I will pull it out. But bees gonna do what bees gonna do and they seem to prefer wonky comb for brood.
