Now imagine this is two peoples pov's the day of a school shooting; One kid's shooting up the school because of the bullying and ostracisation they've faced, while another, who just wants to fit in is killed despite wanting nothing else but friends and acceptance
The cool kids wear pumped up kicks. Also, if "Cool Kids" is about being like the 'cool kids', and "Pumped Up Kicks" is about shooting up the 'cool kids', is this about the 'cool kids' shooting up the 'cool kids'? So, this is Heathers?
okay so I closed my eyes the whole time and this is what I saw: two high schoolers are going through a rough time, so they walk through the halls to think. the girl is thinking about how badly she wants to fit it, but the guy is tired of the bullying and oppression and is thinking about shooting up the school. (when the lyrics start mixing together), they are slowly walking towards each other in the hallway until they're right in front of each other and they have an instant connection. They sit down and open up to each other and become great friends and realize that all they need is each other and everything is okay.
Maybe it's because I just watched the movie, but this strangely reminds me of 'Heathers' Just imagine the Pumped Up Kicks parts being JD and the Cool Kids parts being Veronica
I swear, every time I'm trying to remember the chorus to cool kids, my brain starts with the chorus to pumped up kicks. Thanks for satisfying my brain haha 👌
One kid wants to get away from all the kids and one wants to be like all the kids , this song is so sad , he hates the cool kids and she wants to be like the cool kids this songs meaning clash but they fit musicly
Nah technically the way I see it the kid who's shooting used to be like "I wish that I could be like the cool kids" but eventually they hated them and turned on every one and was like "fuck this. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run better run, outrun my gun"
@@hollycarmen3376 i feel like the phrase is more of a rejection of social standing and a notion of reality, like, sure, cool "kicks" but let's just see how fast they take you agenst my gun, its satirical... in a very sad sorta way, though that doesn't necessarily say you are wrong, I just think thats what the like meant
I'll tell ya the vibe I get: two characters, a brother and a sister. He's 14, one of those odd loner kids with messy hair who likes chucking pebbles at squirrels. She's an upperclassman; experience playing the popularity game for the past five years has taught her that everyone's looking to belong somewhere... and sometimes do so from a place of pain or envy. Here, she's reminiscing, trying to relate that to him that everybody struggles with this, but he's perhaps too distracted by his own dark thoughts to pick up on what she's actually saying. That, or there's just no substitute for experience... _"I wish that could see how this story ends. . ."_
To me it could sound like it could be from the same perspective. "Cool kids" being them from the past while "pumped up kicks" is in the moment. The singer is tired of being outcasted, and thus decides to shoot those who outcasted them. While in their mind all their built up wishes to "be like the cool kids" are echoing, reminding them why they've made this decision.
We all know we collectively thought of this crazy yet amazing idea and searched it up in hopes to find that someone somewhere on the internet has done it and weren’t disappointed.
I like how each song modifies the other's narrative a little bit in order to meld together into one. The "Pumped Up Kicks" kid has gone from hating everyone at school to envying the popular kids, and the "Cool Kids" kid has had enough of being treated like a lesser person by the popular kids.
Really? _...Matt Holt?_ I'll give ya that Katie's a bit unusual for chillin' with the Paladins, but... _Matt?_ ...can you explain that one? (Ya lost me.)
To me the song is about two or more kids that are bullied by the cool kids. They wish they could be like the cool kids. So they can understand why the cool kids are bulling them. When she said 'I wish i could be like the cool kids, cause all the cool kids they seem to get it'. When he said ' I don't even know why, but he's come'in for you, yeah he's come'in for you'. Made me think the bulling got pyshical. On top of that they're having problems at home, and the cool kids don't understand that. When she said 'They're all living the good life, can't see what he's going through. They finally had enough, and started planning a attack to get back at the cool kids, and the school for not doing anything, and to put them through the same hell they were put through. When he said 'I'll tell you his plans'. They're about to set the plan in action when she said 'They're all talking with a big smile, but they have'nt got a clue' the cool kids don't know what going to happen.
What I think it is is that There is a couple in highschool And they get bullied by popular kids The girl wants to be like them but the guy is pissed off at them for bullying her And him, so he wants to take revenge. That's how I've always seen it
This is absolutely amazing! I subscribed because of this mashup and I honestly hope that you make more mashups soon because based on this one, I can tell that you're really good at it.
Okay so if i had to make a story for this mashup it'd go something like this. So there's a boy who wants nothing more than to be like the cool kids, and he'd do anything to do that. So he goes up and talks to them completely abandoning his old friends. Somehow he and the cool kids start hanging out which of course our boy is delighted by. Our boy eventually starts smoking and drinking like some sort of cowboy kid. One day he and his friends are at school and one of them asks "hey your dad has a gun right, i've seen it on him sometimes?" The boy remembers that "yes my dad does have one" and says "yeah he does." The friend tells the boy "okay cool you should bring it to school tomorrow" and of course the boy agrees without a second though. When tomorrow comes our boy looks at the table when he's getting ready for school, h asks his dad if he could borrow some of his socks to which his father gives him permission. When our boy goes to get some socks out of his fathers closet he spots his father's gun, a six shooter, he remembers his friend asking him to bring it so he grabs it along with a pair of socks and finishes getting dressed. He walks to school and arrives to the table him and his new friends meet up at. He sits down and everyone looks at him eventually after an awkward silence someone giggles and then the friends who had asked about the gun asks "so did you bring it?" Our boy's eyes glow up as he opens his back pack to show them all that he infact did bring it. everyone at the table are dead silent more a moment again until once more our boy's friend says "woah you actually brought it that's awesome", he then leans and whispers," you should fire a couple of rounds off." The boy replies with a sceptical look to which his friend assures "come one everyone likes guns it would be cool." The boy thinks to himself and then he loads without any hesitation fires it. The sound of the other kids talking in the cafeteria is cut through with a loud bang, someone even screams. Suddenly everyone is in a state of utter panic including our boy he is then tried to reasoned with by some security guards that were in the cafeteria but the boy panics and shoots one of the guards. Eventually after what seemed like an eternity the police arrived and arrested the boy and his friends? Well they're nowhere to be found. The end
I tried my best to incorporate both songs and the mashup itself into the story though i did include my own things in there so there's that. I don't really care if anyone likes this cause i kind of just made this in a couple of minutes at like 2 something in the morning so yeah, but hey if you liked it than cool i guess
Oh and i guess the moral of the story is to not let yourself be manipulated into doing stupid shit or trying to be cool and popular and to fit in is never good for you. Honestly take what you will out of this story
To me it would be more fitting for the subject to try and join the popular crowd at school only to be bullied severely. Eventually they snap and target the people who they looked up to and were betrayed by.
Bro I swear I just heard pumped up kicks, thought it sounded like cool kids, looked this up and someone had actually mixed them together holy shit thank you

pumped up kicks
One of the greatest and meaningful mashups I have seen. They both kind of mean the same thing, you know.?
Tlaloc it’s not about a school shooting but both songs are pretty much about kids who are bullied/treated unfairly
Cool kids is actually about school shootings
no not at all, in cool kids she wants to fit in with the cool kids, in pumped up kicks he just wants to shoot them instead.
Amelia Cope No Cool Kids is about kids who are lonely and excluded from the “cool kid” groups. Nothing to do with shootings. 🙄
