STRONG AGREE about Fetterman as a profile in courage on Israel.
It says something about the differing pressures on the Governor of Nebraska, and the legislators of Nebraska, whom I suspect are mostly Republican? Quite interesting and maybe surprising to me that this didn't come close to passing the legislature.
As a resident of Nebraska, I am getting tired of how politicians are trying to stick their nose into things that people don’t want. Trump only wants it to help him during the election, but he never asked how the people of Nebraska felt. This electoral college issue was never a problem for 30 years, but now it is. I just want him start changing things that negatively impacts common citizens.
Fetterman has been a pleasant surprise. I daresay he’s a better Senator than Dr. Oz would have been. And that he’s gotten away with it without being driven into exile by his party, like Sinema or Romney, is hopeful.
The attempt to do this in Nebraska FAILED miserably.
IF somehow Nebraska does this, Maine will do this as well (special session of the Legislature) and that negates a Trump advantage.

I'm not sure who RFKjr will help. His appeal is that he's not a typical politician. That was Trump's original appeal. I was having lunch with a friend who's a big Trump in 2016 in NH, my friend had his Trump hat. People were coming up to him and saying that Trump believes what he says. I'm not sure that he will appeal to Trump versus vs Biden supporters.

My problem with conservatives defending these norms and the statis-quo ... is that it is norms and a status-quo that advantages your coalition at the expense of my coalition.
It's really hard to argue to my fellow liberals "we should knock this gamesmanship off and just try and win elections" when we keep getting more votes and losing elections. 2016, 2000, even in 2020 which we won by millions of votes we were all holding our breathes over a few ten thousand votes here and there. The senate is even worse.
The unevenness of the status quo means the left and the right have very different levels of justification. If the left tries to admit D.C. as 3 or 4 states I support that. If they tried to admit D.C. as 11 states that would be tyranny and violence both to the officials who did that along with those that give public support to them is justified. Meanwhile if the Republicans try and split Wyoming in two to get 1 more reliable conservative state justifies the same violence as Democrats trying to get 11 states.
