My understanding of poppin cookin things is that if the box is in Japanese, you will get something that tries taste like it looks. If it is in English, it will taste like candy. I don’t know if this is universal but I’ve done maybe a dozen and that’s the standard I’ve found.
Funny thing about food commercials: The reason why anything featuring “mozzarella cheese” is so convincing is because mozzarella really can stretch like that sometimes! One time I got a pizza from Your Pie (it’s a Build-Your-Own-Pizza type restaurant, if you haven’t heard of it) and the pizza I got had cheese so stretchy that the other slice, which my sister was holding, was literally across the table and the cheese was still in-tact. It’s insane!
Regular mozzarella doesn't stretch a lot, but it's complementary in flavor profile to a cheaper white cheese, muenster. Almost all commercial pizza cheese is a mozzarella muenster blend, with Little Caesars leaning more muenster than mozzarella.
@@RoninCatholic ive seen several people do tests to determine the best aspects of various cheeses, high quality unblended mozzarella can stretch upwards of 5 to 8 feet and not break. The better quality the mozzarella the stretchier it is, but it has very little flavour. Adding Muenster will reduce the stretchiness a bit but cut cost and add flavour to the cheese, but Muenster does have a quality pull though.

I don't know if people realize it, but the kits they sell in Japan are totally different from the ones that are made to be sold in the U.S. It looks like you have the American version of the burger kit in this video, since the boxes only have English writing on them. I had the Japanese version of the burger and fries one, that I ordered off of Amazon and then I got an American version of that same kit, with English directions on the box, at a local Japanese grocery store. The ingredients and directions were completely different and the American one was totally disgusting. In the Japanese version, it's meant to taste as much like a real burger and fries as possible. So the buns are made out of real flour that you have to cook in the microwave to bake it into actual burger buns. And the patty is made out of bean powder, that you also have to cook in the microwave, and it actually taste like meat. And of course, the fries are made out of actual potato powder, so they taste real, too. But in the American version, everything is made out of this disgusting tasting candy powder, that you don't have to cook at all and it also looks way worse when you put it together. The only thing that was the same between the two kits was the soda. Why do the Japanese think that Americans prefer such a crappy product? I wonder if they actually did any market research, or they just assumed Americans would want the inferior one.

The burger and fries one used to have a savory version (maybe it still does?) That was the original. The ramen, pizza and "kid's bento" also were savory ones. But then somewhere along the way they decided to also make candy versions of them too. They also have the candy flavored versions in the Japanese version. There's an ice cream one I really like. It has vanilla, strawberry and ramune flavor. I don't know how they do it, but the ice cream candy has the exact texture as real ice cream.

Brutalmoose did a burger popin cookin but it was completely different. He had to microwave the buns and burger. It was savory too and not candy. I guess this is a newer iteration.
The tray you put the corn in after rolling has little bumps in the bottom that were supposed to hold the kernels in nice even rows so you could roll it in there, making the kernels stick to the yellow gummy stuff a bit prettier, hah But all that matters is the fun and flavor in the end, so that doesn't matter too much, hehehe

Perhaps the company realized that the savory stuff was no good, and so reworked the recipe of their savory items to taste more like candy.
