As always, this was such a great conversation. Thanks as always for the acknowledgment Michael. It really means a lot. And thanks to Royce and Dan for always being so welcoming and for their great insights. I encourage everyone to check out their channels for great content. And congrats on all the recent upgrades, Michael! Onwards and upwards for The Bottom Line (and The Tribe)! 🌟
My late Uncle was a professional musician from his early teens. He lived till his late 70’s. He said it was not the drugs and booze it was being on the road a lot, the duplicitous business people you deal with, partners who going around your back, some of the shady people at the clubs but he loved music so much it was all worth it. He had a day job and died a well off man. He taught me to love music.

The real deadly thing about the live biz- though never reported as fatal (especially in rock and even more so metal) is the female audience constantly being groped, raped, molested or whatever the synonymous shit! Apparently if your gonna work live, especially as a male lead member, you have to be brave enough to call that shit out! This is the one aspect of my favorite genres that I actually hate the most! I don't know what it is. But for some reason as rockers; (and especially worse, metalheads) guys feel it is ritual for them to lose all sense of humanity because the genre permits it! If giving your life to Jesus and still being a fan of rock isn't some ones cup of tea, that doesn't mean that they should give the world more reasons to hate the genre and point the finger at Satan. I was at a show where a girl was being crowd surfed and I just stayed the fuck away as the guys ravenously cheered for caution of not knowing what would happen. While nothing seemed to. If it did I wouldn't want to be near them when they'd do it.
Love your channel and videos. You remind me of my uncle and that is a good thing ;) I have been going through some tough times and your videos help, I like listening to them esp before bedtime. Keep rockin!
I still remember the morning I went to get the paper with my oldest son, who was 10 at the time. We both loved Nirvana. We saw the headline that Kurt Cobain was dead and it was such a big shock. I still can't play their music much to this day, as it was so sad.
The whole drinking/drugs/partying life wasn't rock and roll, it was people being assholes. The fact that people still wax nostalgically about that era, and the truly abhorrent behavior of those 'men' involved, makes me hate that concept of rock and roll. If they wanted to, they could have exercised a modicum of self-control.
Alice in Chains released two eps one between each of their three lps. The first one was Sap released in 92 way before in utero. So AIC did the acoustic cross over first. And they also have the best unplugged set.
I think The Stones will outlive everyone. After almost 60 years since they first began (2024 will be the 60th anniversary of their first album "Decembers Children") only Charlie Watts is gone. After all that's happened to Keith Richards over the years, I think he's cheated death like 10 times! The Stones might still be around after all of us are gone!
Their first album was named "The Rolling Stones" in UK and "England's Newest Hitmakers" in the US. "December's Children" was like 4th/5th American album.

Back in the 60's and 70's rock stars intentionally committing suicide was unheard of, but when the "sad sack" grunge music scene came around in the 90's all of a sudden they are all offing themselves.
Sorry Michael . Don't buy into all that rubbish about Rock being a dangerous profession . The reason Rock Stars over indulge is down to boredom and a weakness of character , lack of self discipline and stupidity . Any fool can drug and drink themselves to death . Nothing romantic or clever about that . Look at the great music they could have given us if they'd survived .
Don't you guys do any research on your topics? First of all, it was Berry Oakley, the bass player of The Allman Brothers Band, who died a year after Dwayne Allman. Patsy Cline died in a PLANE crash, NOT a car crash. Oh yeah, and as for Jim Croce, he died with his guitar player in a plane crash in 1973 on the way to Sherman, Texas. Rick Nelson died while free basing cocaine on a plane in 1985. Sonny & Cher sang together on Letterman '87 and Sonny died in '98. So it wasn't RIGHT before he died, it was eleven years BEFORE he died! That's kind of a BIG difference? Geeez guys, do you think maybe you might want to look up some of these things BEFORE you do a live stream?
The Black Crowes are over-rated! Imo, they've always been a "Rolling Stones" wanna be kind of band, but not NEAR as good! I've never really cared for them that much, other than a few of their songs? I think they really didn't have anything new to say?
assassination is the ultimate merger of fan and idol. that way the fan (and assassin) becomes part of their idols biography. im convinced these people think that way. fan is short for fanatic, lets not forget that.

Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and
Jim Morrison and many more.
My childhood ended (I was 12) on December 8, 1980. Howard Cosell told me while watching Monday night football.
🙄 ok
That new "Elvis" movie really put a heck of a spot light on how the circus act transitioned to rock n roll.
