    Thanks, Chris for all the information. I am just getting started restoring a 1971 VW Super Beetle that my sister bought new at 16 years old in 1971. My sister started restoring it 22 years ago and it has been setting in a building ever since. I will send pictures when finished.

    A big shout out from the Pacific Northwest, Chris! Thanks for making all the information you provide detailed, yet easy to understand. You've empowered me as I become more intimate with my VW's maintenance. Who knew, until now, I could be saving $100 per oil change by adjusting valves myself, and $175 for timing?!?! Not that my VW isn't worth getting pampered by the mechanic, but you took the fear away. THANK YOU!

    Chris, your videos are so helpful. We are re-restoring a 1964 Beetle that we did in 1996, and now have to re-do (we were amateurs back then!). Yes, the "internet" that is now available vs. what we had then is epic different. Thanks for doing what you do. We appreciate it!

    Hi!! Chris, My name is Cris Ramirez now retired ATC. Just want to tell you that all of your videos are AWESOME!! Thank you because By watching some of your videos you got me enthuastic again to continue on my 1960 Europe (Semaphore) type Beetle proyect that I stopped 30 years ago in Killeen, Texas. (How I obtained this 1960 VW in 1980 While in the Military in Ft. Hood, TX is a long and funny story as my buddy and I were just planning to take a part from it to put it on his 64 VW) well..after driving the car for 10 years with a 1600cc engine and later model transmission (12 volt) the Bug was Taken apart in 1990 and painted by my buddy who helped me to discover the car in 1980, but it still untouched for the last 30 plus years inside my garage. However after watching many of your videos I'm back at it again!! I'm now buying new ORIGINAL parts and hope to have it on the road by spring or early summer Thank you again, love all of your very informative videos. God bless you and the family and Y'all stay safe.
    Cris Ramirez

    Hello, my name is Luciano, I'm from São Paulo, Brazil, I'm 28 and I have vw beetle since the age of 15. Currently I have a matte black 1972 model. I am impressed with the quality of parts that have since you were here is quite different and there are still more than 3 million of beetles of which many are still running. I really like your videos, and despite the difficulty by always follow because of the language, health and fate of Brazilian friends.

    Chris, I have all of these distributors in my "Favorites List". I have purchased parts from all of these folks and they have been great to deal with. One that you didn't mention is Jbugs outa Cali. Another big parts dealer with either NOS or equal and Brazilian parts. Listen to Chris when he says to spend the extra money on German or NOS. I just received some Brazilian outside window sweeps for my latest bug and had to modify them to work. Great shirt design Bro!. I figured you designed it! Tom

    Well I never use JC anymore, just cheap stuff, TMI interiors to me have become inferior, but if a customer of mine wants a TMI kit, I do go jbugs. Lenny At west coast classics is awesome, I have mentioned him in my other videos on seat upholstery. WCM stuff is found in CIP1 parts list, I do like their seals.

    Hey Chris. Thanks for the help on that ignition switch the other day, I had a bad switch. I''ve got another question for you. My 65 came with a solid pattern rim. One of my rims was rusted through, but the others are fine. I want to go back to the original rims,but I can't find this style. I've checkd all the sites you gave me on this video. Do you have any other suggestions or ideas?

    Hey Chris, I am having some issues with this baja bug I bought. It is a 1965 bug with a 71 super beetle engine in it. I am having issues, it was running fine and one day while driving it, it just died. It has been about a year since that happened and at the time I replaced points and it would start but wouldn't stay running. Now today I am not getting a spark from my brand new Bosch blue coil. Is there any video you have uploaded that may assist me or help me find the issue?

    Beautiful cars! I have a new beetle (sorry) and am looking for aftermarket parts. Specifically, I'm looking for the fender flares and plastic running board body accents which come on either the new Dune or R-Line models. The parts are simply the black fender flare accent pieces. They go from the rear bumper, all the way around the fenders and to the bottom of the front bumper. Is anything like this available aftermarket or is this a high priced, authentic, VW part only available from the dealership? I'd appreciate any info on aftermarket parts for the new Beetle. Thank You!

    Nice vids very informative. How do you feel about the fuel reserve lever? I’ve never heard you talk about these or put them in your bugs? Is it because they were offered as an aftermarket product?

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  6 років тому

      Fuel reserve lever was actually stock in VWs up till '61, not aftermarket. We use them all the time, we go back to the way it was from factory, so they are always in our bugs.

      +DTLA/ORIGINALS_CLICK depends, do you need each side, or just one. If you need just one, source a good used german. If you decide to go new, then you will need both sides, because the curves are slightly different from the originals.

    What the average expenses put into each restoration of a bug?

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  6 років тому

      Prices are all over the place, do you mean expense based on you restoring it yourself, or hiring a shop like ours?

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  6 років тому

      Very tough to say, all depends on the bug, but we start at 45k now. So I would say between 45-55k, soup to nuts.

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  6 років тому

      Just bugs for now, just so busy with them. I have to get a bigger shop, so this is my year I am looking. If all goes well, then maybe get into those other cars.

    @finleyl.2822 6 років тому

    How about both?

    • @classicvwbugs
      @classicvwbugs  6 років тому +1

      Most of our restos that we build for folks average over 45k. If you do it yourself, it could range (with a good paint job) from 15k-30k. I mean you can go real cheap with stuff, but if you want a good looking bug, it costs $$. Good paint jobs today are at least 6k-12k. Parts can be 8-15k. It all depends on the year, make, model.
