+KidSnivy69 Since you felt the need to ask multiple people this, I'll explain it to you. Geniuses, or people with relatively high IQ, are generally diagnosed with a mild form of autism at a young age due to poor social behavior. They make up for this with their intellect, but they come across as weird, odd, or eccentric to others. For example, Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory tv show is more of this trope, which is irritating to those who actually are smart and not annoying, but that's aside the point. The point is is that it's not a funny how to begin with. I *get* the joke, but it wasn't funny. Hope that helps!
I reread that part in the comic again just to be sure, but I kinda explained only half of the "joke". Regardless, it wasn't a good joke to begin with. And yes, go right ahead. Smack away!
Michiel Helvensteijn Except that I find that the term 'Fourth Wall Break' doesn't really apply in Deadpool's case. More like 'The Fourth Wall NO LONGER EXISTS!' lol XD Cause... DEADPOOL!
+Christopher Althouse The Fourth Wall has been broken Years before Deadpool,The Muppets,Mr.Mxy,Or Plastic Man were made so by that logic the Fourth Wall doesnt exist anymore and Lewis needs to change the name of his show
That bit about Deadpool fighting a bunch of dogs just because Captain America turned into a werewolf, hilariously, sounds like something Deadpool would do.
"Hey look Brute Force is back with everyone's favorite character: 'Bear!'" "You mean Reck-Less?" "No it... just says 'Bear'." "Certainly you mean the character: Robo-Bear?" "Or Cyber-Bear?" "Iron-Bear?" "Just...Bear..." "...This comic is weird."
As an Autistic individual, speaking on Deadpool's Autism comment, it really isn't that offensive. High intelligence and OCD are both common traits of mild autism, also a whole can of bullshit that often times caps our ability to use that intelligence, so mixed blessing but regardless.
I think the issue is more that Deadpool was jumping to conclusions about someone he doesn't know & thinking in stereotypes about autistic people. Even then, a neurotypical perseon doesn't have to divulge private medical/health information like that if they don't want to because it is/should be confidential by default (usually.)
I think the problem is the trope of the autistic genius. And the cycle of mixing stereotypes and tropes with actual mental health and neurodivergence is super tricky.
As a mildly autistic person, when I bought this comic and came across that joke, I loved it. I took it as both a compliment for the genius connection and a totally correct assumption that a person with autism would take pause at anything unordered. It remains to date one of my favorite lines, and I even shared it with people on social media, and they loved it too.
This was a joyful look at an awesome comic. The normal restraint that goes into the show gets put on hold, and fun things happen. Not every episode should be like this ... so that when it does go crazy, it has that much more impact.
asperger's here. And I found that autism joke hilarious. Then again my sense of humor is rather odd. I tend to find things funny even if I really shouldn't.
I think the big thing holding them back is although many people like to sneak in cameos.....the CGI cost for Brite Force would make them too much as compared to say Paladin or Leapfrog
Also, I'm not sure why, but I think I too was confused and disgusted by the pool of mac and cheese when I 1st heard of it. It might be a sign of OCD rather than autism, as I'm not aware I have the latter but have been diagnosed with the former by professionals
Also also: I should be surprised that a dolphin has a degree and a doctorate. But considering that my comic book crush basically had a run where he killed a bunch of zombie presidents and met a version of him that is basically him blended with Gwen Stacy to create an adorable new character, I’m not
You want to know what a bad Deadpool comic is? You should try "What if?: Venom/Deadpool". You would think that a story with the Venom symbiote possesing Deadpool, the Beyonder and Galactus in a death battle, and a ending where you see the greatest marvel villains crucified in the White House garden, couldn't suck. But, oh, boy! Sucks, and hard. I'm still wondering how they could f*** up a premise as cool as that.
Honestly, I'd say Venom is the first problem I can spot already. Consider this an ignorant opinion of a person seriously un-cultured about comics (Especially modern comics), but Venom really is to me a character that sorta had a one-track function. His story-engine only really worked for being the antagonist of Spider-Man. His shtick sorta revolved around being rejected by the guy. Beyond that, he might work with a sort of Jekyll/Hyde dynamic if you're taking him solo, but even at that point, you still can't shake that very specific, intimate connection to Spider-Man, which is probably why they invented Toxin to explore that very story-engine, being a symbiote, but also a fresh character to work off of. Again, I really don't know my comics, so feel free to point out if that train of thought is either horrifically outdated or just moronic by principal.
+John Porteous or better yet a comic where deadpool is the leader of a super team featuring brute force, us #1, squirrel girl, howard the duck, and mad cap.
I don't know, the Autistic part isn't that bad, I've seen much worse. Plus Deadpool doesn't hold back from anyone so its not like he singles one group out.
+TheTribalOne You gotta admit, Deadpool's the kind of guy who would intentionally confuse OCD and autism/Asperger (I think he really more meant Asperger's) just to dick around with a super-smart dolphin.
I love how the woman at 8:10 still has Linkara's typical deep, gruff reporter voice. Hilarious review, overall. :D Hey, Linkara, have you thought about reviewing more Daredevil comics? I keep hearing mixed things about Fall From Grace and I was wondering if you had read it/intend to review it. :)
17:54 "They were a black-op initiative in the '90s and one of my first assignments. They had a job go south and were disavowed." (The A-Team theme plays)
Lionheart: wait are you not scared that you seeing a talking animals wearing tech? Deadpool: dude you are in a Marvel comic we got a talking Duck who may or may not a badass version of Donald Duck (unless you talking about his old movie that should never be named) and a Raccoon who loved weapons and his friend is a giant talking tree who say thing like a Pokémon so you guys are normal to us
"why cant we have more bruteforce?" because this is comic books, we need to be serious, now excuse us while we try to justify a man cutting his own face off and a giant purple planet eater. no fun or silliness allowed here, nope
You know what’s funny? Another UA-camr mentioned a comic where Deadpool ends up abandoning his intended mission to help a bunch of eco terrorists. I had no idea it was the same one you happened to be reviewing. Thank you for telling me it’s name. 😂
I have the personal belief that this comic was a shout out to Linkara, since the title is a reference to skewed comic numbering, which Linkara has discussed, the "I AM... BEAR," line, and the fact that it's Brute Force, an obscure comic that Linkara has reviewed the entirety of.
You know I find it really funny that Deadpool comics break the fourth wall and in this episode I just noticed that you can see your camera in the reflection of Lord Vice's helmet.
You know, with Sea World getting that documentary in relatively recent times about its mistreatment of its wildlife, the orcas especially, this whole Water World documentary thing aged better than expected!
Holy CRAP I just saw the playlist for atop the fourth wall 595 EPISODES SO CLOSE TO 600 AND AFTER THE EARTH'S END REVIEW AND BROTHER EYE WHAT COULD HE DO?!
OUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED BRUTE FORCE HAS RETURNED! Not only that but we also team them up with one of the best characters in the Marvel universe? Christmas has come early! Though we still want you to tear Megaforce apart like the wrapping on a present. Now to sit back and wait for when Marvel pairs up Deadpool with Battle Fever J.
Linkara: I certainly would appreciate my legacy being "The Return of Brute Force" rather than "May Have Inspired Enough interest in Sci-Spy to have a Trade of it Made". Me: I wonder how he feels about "May have inspired Marvel to retcon Sins Past to make it less offensive"?
I am happy to see Deadpool get a spotlight and I admit, i'm curious if there will be other retrospective's after the Blue Sky retrospective (much appreciated, now I am adding the Blue Beetle to my favorite hero list) and I'm wondering if one will be a marvel character.
Zettabeam62 I'm going through that show right now... well, on and off anyway. It's hard when you have to share the TV with 3 other people. But it's great fun!
Reviewing Deadpool is dangerous on this show. Deadpool keeps breaking the fourth wall! And Linkara is standing Atop the Fourth Wall! HOW IS HE ABLE TO STAY UP THERE IF HE KEEPS SMASHING IT!?!
SWEET! It is as awesome as I dreamed... Oh, and if that "I am... Bear?" is indeed a reference to the "I am a man" punch, I can't help but think that certain jokes were probably set up, like the Neutro riding the whale and the A-Team reference. I gotta wonder if there might've been some other Mr. T reference in there somewhere; I need to get a copy and read it myself...
The funniest thing to me as far as deadpool movie references is, in Cable and Deadpool, deadpool makes a reference to him looking like Ryan Reynalds. XD deadpool, breaks the 4th wall, kills people, knows the future!
13:06 Fun Fact: For St. Patrick’s Day one year, Ryan Reynolds did sit down to watch the Green Lantern movie again, even tweeted about it and brought out his ring from the movie. He admitted that he did still somewhat like it.
This is great review. I have to say, that this review would've work better if we actually had Deadpool in this episode. Because Deadpool knows everything. He knows everything about you Linkara. And he now knows that you reviewed one of his comic. X3
I agree that Green Lantern wasn't THAT bad... Except for the fact that they decided to combine Krona and Parallax into one character and utterly ruined both of them, in the process. The rest of the movie was fine, though. Reynolds was a perfectly serviceable Hal Jordan.
"The only warrior fit for battle on land and battle at sea..." Yeah...no. 1. I really doubt there are no other amphibious mechas in the Marvel universe. 1b. Most of these could probably kill the whale mecha with relative ease, as it's not armed with anything particularly frightening in comparison to...the point is Marvel is full of things that can kill people who can survive missile strikes.... 2. Whale face is not known for being bulletproof. 3. You only have ONE whale mech thing. Good luck with any kind of strategic victory. 4. I spent three and a half points considering the military application of a whale mecha in a fictional universe.
1. I don't actually know of any in the Marvel Universe, I'm sure Tony has one or two suits that would work both in water and land since he has some that can work in space but I don't know how good they are compared to his normal one. 1b. The Whale presumably has the same forcefield as the rest of Brute force which blocks high speed projectiles but not slow moving melee attacks, with it being that big and powerful it may also be able to survive a missile strike or at the very least defend against or avoid one. 2. Nether is a Lions or an Engels, because their armor has force fields. Its the same thing with Lex Lurthor, they aren't dumb enough to think no one wouldn't attack their weak fleshy bits they just have force fields for those parts. 3. The one whale wouldn't have worked to take over the world but it was good enough to defeat brute force, after that all he would need to do is make more suits of armor seeing as the only people that knew his plan were killed... well except dead pool but you can at least trap him while he's regenerating. 4.I also spent three and a half points considering the military applications of a whale mecha in a fictional universe and while I may be arguing for its practicality in this case I still think this topic is utterly ridicules.
A little note from the distant future, in 2020 Marvel brought back Brute Force as a backup in Weapon Plus: World War IV #1, including the end of a mainstay member and a nod to future stories. They aren't forgotten.
Thanks for also uploading your AT4W videos over here on YT, it's incredibly difficult for me to watch them on Screenwave - that service seems to be incredibly laggy, sluggish and "connection-draining" to me (might me a problem on my end, though), very much appreciated !
6:18: How quaint. Linkara thinks that we have nothing better to do with our lives than to memorize the theme song to his show. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to rewatch episodes that have the extended theme.
Fox: Now only if we can get the stuffed bear to yell "I AM A BEAR!!!" and punch some one (And then have the bear use said punch saying "I am a Bear" With Linkara yelling "I AM A MAN". And having time and space warp because of it)
Here’s the title card music for anyone who wants to hear it without wasting time going and finding it. Night wish - Ghost Love Score ua-cam.com/video/uN3yqMr3ffY/v-deo.html
For those who wonder which book actually claims dolphins (and mice) are smarter than humans (although in a satirical way): It's Douglas Adams' 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy'. Great read, I've read it 7 times already.
11:37 With all the snake-themed villains in the Marvel universe, especially the Serpent Society, it's honestly not a bad call to focus on chasing snakes.
As an autistic person, my stance on that joke is "It's not offensive; It's just a bad joke."
I still don't get the joke.
+KidSnivy69 Since you felt the need to ask multiple people this, I'll explain it to you. I reread that part in the comic again just to be sure, but I kinda explained only half of the "joke". Regardless, it wasn't a good joke to begin with. And yes, go right ahead. Smack away!
I'm autistic and I think at best I would look at the pool and think "why is it filled with macaroni?"
So... if you're sitting atop the fourth wall... and Deadpool breaks the fourth wall... when you review a Deadpool comic... do you fall down?
And all DC's horses and all DC's men couldn't put Lovhaug together again.
Michiel Helvensteijn Except that I find that the term 'Fourth Wall Break' doesn't really apply in Deadpool's case.
More like 'The Fourth Wall NO LONGER EXISTS!'
lol XD
Cause... DEADPOOL!
Poirot's Mustache When Linkara falls down, he doesn't break.
*You break*.
4th wall squared broken then?
+Christopher Althouse The Fourth Wall has been broken Years before Deadpool,The Muppets,Mr.Mxy,Or Plastic Man were made so by that logic the Fourth Wall doesnt exist anymore and Lewis needs to change the name of his show
That bit about Deadpool fighting a bunch of dogs just because Captain America turned into a werewolf, hilariously, sounds like something Deadpool would do.
Why hasn’t there been an image of this in a comic already? Strike that. That idea alone Would make for a funny and awesome Deadpool comic!
"Hey look Brute Force is back with everyone's favorite character: 'Bear!'"
"You mean Reck-Less?"
"No it... just says 'Bear'."
"Certainly you mean the character: Robo-Bear?"
"Or Cyber-Bear?"
"Iron-Bear?"
"Just...Bear..."
"...This comic is weird."
Daniel F. I know it's a bit late to ask, but was that an Avatar: The Last Airbender reference? If so... kudos
After all these years someone got that...thank you
Daniel F. No problem. It was a funny moment in a great episode. I'm surprised nobody recognized it until now
Daniel F. wow!! same name and same sense of humor
I understood that reference!
As an Autistic individual, speaking on Deadpool's Autism comment, it really isn't that offensive. High intelligence and OCD are both common traits of mild autism, also a whole can of bullshit that often times caps our ability to use that intelligence, so mixed blessing but regardless.

May the Brute Force be with you.
Aspergers here. The macaroni in the pool would weird me out for a while too. Perfect distraction.
As another person with Aspergers I'd find a fork and eat it so it isn't too far from the truth
Deadpool wasted a lot of perfectly good macaroni. Deadpool is a jackwagon.
As would I. Yummy yummy macaroni and cheese
asperger's here. And I found that autism joke hilarious. Then again my sense of humor is rather odd. I tend to find things funny even if I really shouldn't.
Mesoforte Nebulous yep I'd be pissed about that for like a day
Brute force, Deadpool and an A-team joke? :D We need more!
"This here is your Transformers killer here, people!"
That is until Hasbro revives the Beast Wars series (which they should!).
Ask and you shall receive:
Transformers Kingdom 2021
Fingers crossed, Brute Force appears in the Marvel Cinematic universe.
Here's hoping!
Would be interesting, but I'm not holding my breath.
If they do, they could finally get the toy deal they alway dreamed of :D
I think the big thing holding them back is although many people like to sneak in cameos.....the CGI cost for Brite Force would make them too much as compared to say Paladin or Leapfrog
Well, they’re getting Shang-chi in there, so I’m hoping they will.
♫Welcome to Atop the Fourth Wall, something something burn!♫
+ThePreciseClimber Pretty sure it's where bad lighting burns...
+Gizensha Fox Lead tonics foam!
"Linkara's gonna something something something something learn!"
+Gizensha Fox No, it's where bad lamps burn out. You should think you never have watched Atop the Lightbulb before.
+AT Productions He is a man, punch, something something hat. Linkara, something something gun something something something Linkara!!!
If "I am... Bear?" was a reference to Linkara, then it urks me that it wasn't written "I am a... Bear?"
I was thinking it was more a "I am Groot" reference
+gingernorton Why not both?
It irks me that you spelled "irk" as "urk"
Feels like it's it should've been "I'M A...BEAR!"
Though since he's a robo bear. I'm now thinking of the opening bit of the Iron-Man Animated series season 2 theme song.
I like your Deadpool impression, Linkara. There's something kinda Bruce Campbell-ish about it.
"For the children."
"I'm fine with doing it for the money."
Spoken like a true millennial.
Also, I'm not sure why, but I think I too was confused and disgusted by the pool of mac and cheese when I 1st heard of it.
It might be a sign of OCD rather than autism, as I'm not aware I have the latter but have been diagnosed with the former by professionals

11:01 Deadpool really was part of “the Next Generation of Heroes!”
"Vehicanimals."

+John Porteous or better yet a comic where deadpool is the leader of a super team featuring brute force, us #1, squirrel girl, howard the duck, and mad cap.
+Zettabeam62 Yes
I could picture that as a Marvel Team-Up issue being made during Assistant Editor's Month.
Zettabeam62 no bad fan bad
It could involve all those chickens that fell from the blimp.
I don't know, the Autistic part isn't that bad, I've seen much worse. Plus Deadpool doesn't hold back from anyone so its not like he singles one group out.
Seriously, what's the punch line to that joke?
The only reason it could be funny is if you find stereotypes about autism funny.
+Michael Prymula you're one of reasons why can't we have nice things
+TheTribalOne You gotta admit, Deadpool's the kind of guy who would intentionally confuse OCD and autism/Asperger (I think he really more meant Asperger's) just to dick around with a super-smart dolphin.
I found it funny more for the dolphin's reaction to it than the joke itself.
"But macaroni doesn't even belong in a pool"
4:45 Finally, someone on the internet pronounces Chibi in a way that doesn't frustrate me!
This review was fantastic. Super fun! Like your birthday revitalized you.
"I am...Bear?!" "I am Groot!" "Hodor Hodor Hodor!"
Was that last one a One Piece reference?
No.
TheHeroOfTomorrow Sorry for bugging to but for some reason it reminded me of that pink haired girl from Thriller Bark.
+KidSnivy69 It was A Song of Ice and Fire reference, actually.
Azhrei Vep Never hear of it
Okay the title card looks like you're trying to punch Mecha-Willy in the nads there.
but he wasnt, he was trying to collect a sample.
+Shiirow
that makes it even worse!

13:29 Is that what happened to Phelous?
Seriously? Great review, a classic.
Thanks Linkara, I caught a shiny Ivysaur in the Friend Safari while watching this episode. XD

You know what I would love to see? Brute Force teams up with Howard the Duck.
I hadn't realized until now just how well your humor matches up with Deadpool's.
I have the personal belief that this comic was a shout out to Linkara, since the title is a reference to skewed comic numbering, which Linkara has discussed, the "I AM... BEAR," line, and the fact that it's Brute Force, an obscure comic that Linkara has reviewed the entirety of.
You hear me Marvel. Make a Brute force movie. (or Cartoon either way) :P
ok, it's a deadpool episode & no deadpool busting into ur apartment? what the hell Linkara?!
Probably couldn't get a good costume in time.

So Fourth-Wall Breaking Deadpool is on Atop the fourth Wall? #FourthWallCeption
Brute force are like if the power ranger zords had their own series, MAKE THIS COME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
It really feels like linkara is the one who actually wrote this comic.😂 his sense of humor and the aurhor’s are so similar.
This is one of the best comics that have been featured on this show! Amazing!
Holy CRAP I just saw the playlist for atop the fourth wall 595 EPISODES SO CLOSE TO 600 AND AFTER THE EARTH'S END REVIEW AND BROTHER EYE WHAT COULD HE DO?!

*puts on tinfoil hat*
Linkara is precognitive confirmed! He new the punchline to the frisbee joke literal minutes before it happened!
19:47 or Tobias from Animorphs. He rakes aliens in the eyes. Thousands were blinded by a teen-bird-boy.
5:55 Weird coincidence but that sorta kinda the plot of the audiobook "Deadpool: Paws".

This was just utterly amazing! 90s kid said it best- The 90s were FUN!
+Robin Nabbing unlike the totally broody and dark dc comics/movies of now. *sigh* my kingdom for a brave and the bold(tv show) revival.
Zettabeam62 I'm going through that show right now... well, on and off anyway. It's hard when you have to share the TV with 3 other people. But it's great fun!
The panels that Linkara showed have some really funny Deadpool lines.
...
...
Most of the jokes about crazy things Deadpool would do are ENTIRELY within character.
Reviewing Deadpool is dangerous on this show.
Deadpool keeps breaking the fourth wall!
And Linkara is standing Atop the Fourth Wall!

The funniest thing to me as far as deadpool movie references is, in Cable and Deadpool, deadpool makes a reference to him looking like Ryan Reynalds. XD deadpool, breaks the 4th wall, kills people, knows the future!
I think your legacy is “creating enough interest in Brute Force for a trade and a Deadpool issue.”
13:06 Fun Fact: For St. Patrick’s Day one year, Ryan Reynolds did sit down to watch the Green Lantern movie again, even tweeted about it and brought out his ring from the movie. He admitted that he did still somewhat like it.
Ugh, your bear puns were pretty cheesy, I bear-ly cracked a smile.
Who’s watching this after Brute Force got a Marvel Unlimited comic?
Even Deadpool can't ignore Shamu's head being cut open.
Linkara, do you think YOU are the reason the comic exists?
15:47 Just review the movie with Lupa. That'll stop your brain telling you how awesome the crossover would be.
Your bear necessities joke was....unBEARable!
man i really hope we get to see more of Brute Force, like c'mon at least a cartoon series cameo!
I really want that panel where he slapped the dolphin as a big poster.
Why?....
Zettabeam62 Because it looks so derpy.
This is great review. I have to say, that this review would've work better if we actually had Deadpool in this episode. Because Deadpool knows everything. He knows everything about you Linkara. And he now knows that you reviewed one of his comic. X3

"He is a man punch
something something something
SOMEONE!"
A little note from the distant future, in 2020 Marvel brought back Brute Force as a backup in Weapon Plus: World War IV #1, including the end of a mainstay member and a nod to future stories. They aren't forgotten.
Seeing this again after seeing the Deadpool movie. Certainly have more of an appreciation for him (and this review) now.
I like to think Brute Force changed their names to show that they no longer rely on Pierce
What’s the reason behind the renaming of the dolphin and bear?
Thanks for also uploading your AT4W videos over here on YT, it's incredibly difficult for me to watch them on Screenwave - that service seems to be incredibly laggy, sluggish and "connection-draining" to me (might me a problem on my end, though), very much appreciated !
+Nr4747 I have the same problem. It is not you.
oh god...a bear pun? that was bear-ly worth it...
That was un-bear-able.
what a grizzly attempt.
I WILL BEAR DOWN THE HEAVENS ON ALL OF YOU!!! XD
Just try to grin and BEAR it.
BEARS!!!
This is probably the first comic I would like to physically own.
6:18: How quaint. Linkara thinks that we have nothing better to do with our lives than to memorize the theme song to his show. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to rewatch episodes that have the extended theme.
*cheers for Brute Force Marvel 616 series*
Also Paul Scheer apparently wrote this issue in addition to doing the 616 documentary episode.
Doug later died fighting the Hulk and Soar ended up getting a supporting role in Peacemaker
I had to pause at "oh god, not that!"
I can't breath and my stomach hurts
This might be the greatest comic of the 21st century so far.
There is a Brute Force cameo in the new Weapon + book, but it isn't that good in my humble opinion....
They....Had....No....Dialogues!
Fox: Now only if we can get the stuffed bear to yell "I AM A BEAR!!!" and punch some one (And then have the bear use said punch saying "I am a Bear" With Linkara yelling "I AM A MAN". And having time and space warp because of it)
Im surprised after rewatching this episode, you didn’t make a Kevin Costner Waterworld joke: “My boat”
I really wish that there had been a cartoon about Brute Force at the time of the original comic, but I would not mind one made today :D
Butt will the armor be able to get them to go beyond thunderdome?
I became a fan of Deadpool thanks to Hulk vs. Wolverine. If you haven't seen it, Linkara, I'd recommend it while your editing.
I FINALLY get your Amazing Bulk reference.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK THAT MOVIE!
If you want a Deadpool comic that genuinely sucks, I recommend "Despicable Deadpool" which is tied with the infamous "Secret Empire" comic...
Here’s the title card music for anyone who wants to hear it without wasting time going and finding it.

Finally review of comic that I've read :D
You know, the more I see that poster (which I wish I owned), the more I want to see MastertheCreator draw a comic book about you Lewis.
He actually appears in several smaller comics, including a Sonic one that the creator sent to him to review.
This was ludicrously awesome
