I would love to have a custom 24 with the new tci pickups and piezo! What pickups are you putting in the c24 piezo in 2024? I dont see a demo for the piezo version yet
I have a 24-08 with 85/15s and that guitar handles downtune and high gain sooooooo so well. These things are ultra stable with low tuning. Pups have a very very rich midrange full of harmonics. These new mini hums sound really good and I’m not knocking them but taking the 85/15 away from the 08 just seems wrong to me.
The potencial of TCI technology is awsome. What happened with the PRS 408? The asymetrical pickups were an interesting idea. I think it would be intereting thing to see.
Great video. One request: when you’re demoing different pickup settings / combos, please try to play the same thing so that it’s easier for our ears to compare apples to apples. Thx
Looks and sounds great! However, which are the differences between this and a Paul’s Guitar now besides one has trem and the other a Stoptail (And you can find out Paul’s guitars with trem out there)
I currently have a 2006 Custom 22 with Dragon II pickups - How different tonally are these new TCI pickups...? If they are different sounding enough I would love to get a 24-08...
If the TCI pickups sound like single coils without the hum, why the need to tap them to make them actual single coils? The appeal of this guitar to me has always been the versatility of having actual humbuckers that can be tapped to sound like single coils.
its sad PRS don't do anymore the PRS 408 models with original design of the bridge bigger that the neck pickup, that was a great models completely new so I thinks the custom 24-08 should have the pickup of the 408 models
Great question! I ordered an 85/15 configured 24-08 in Antique White in late June of 2023. I was told 20-22 months. In January of '24 I came across this new version of the 24-08 and wanted to change my order. Turns out my order was already changed to the new version and it was ready! Not only was it ready, but it was also photographed for the PRS website. I was shocked! All of the colors have been photographed for this model and it's possible that some of them are not earmarked for dealers/end users so they might be available -- most appear to be 10-tops.
Beautiful presentation. Does the S2 version of the Custom 24 08 model have the very identical pickups of the Core model? I know that they are both TCI, but I want to be sure that they are exactly the same.
As far as I know. . . no. You have to order it with their standard spec, which is a pattern thin for Custom 24-08. I wanted a pattern size neck as well, but there was no customization option. I eventually settled for the pattern thin. I got the guitar a few weeks ago, and it's fantastic! Couldn't be happier. Pattern thin neck took a bit to get used to, but I love the guitar.
Why? He likes Yamaha and he will stay that way for a long time. It is be a blasphemy if guitar company uses money to get players like him to switch. Let him switch by himself.
Interesting. I bought the SE 24-08 a couple of years ago and apart from dodgy wiring (just recently the bridge pickup cuts in and out) I think it's a fine piece of work - I have a number of guitars, Gibson, Sadowsky, Fender, Gretsch, Duesenberg etc and figured it was finally time to try a PRS and I'm very happy I finally got round to it . . . the pickup options are great, especially in the mid-position, love the neck, trem and so on. So . . . this may be a heretical question but what is that is significantly different from the SE to warrant the Core Model coming at around 10 times the price? The pickups? The wood? Fretboard? Electronics? Or just the fact that it's made in US as opposed to Indonesia - genuine question from anyone who knows both as this video doesn't really go into that aspect of the guitar. Thanks if you can help? If the answer is 'all of the above' please just save yourself the effort and head off to your local comedy club 😅
You answered your own question. Shoddy electrical work. The wood and parts are cheaper. Labor is much cheaper so you get what you pay for. How it’s set up everything. How the nut is cut the pickups the overall paint job. The look on those pick up rings looks awful on the se you know why it’s just not as good. However, the price is excessive here for the new ones and I see the resale value isn’t as great as I would think.
@@Watching-h5r Thanks for the reply - overall it's fine, my question is simply 'what PRS pick-ups to buy to replace the current ones?' I figured some longtime PRS players here might be able to recommend which set do the same split-coil job but better . . . I have no experience with the PRS world. OR - should I look at Lollars, Fralins, Monty's & what have you? That's what I'm doing with a couple of epiphones I'm modding for fun.
@@davebridge5580 in all honesty there still are lots of people who think prsi look like crap in general - or like j knaggs think they don't innovate enough. I'd say much like the oversized CBS headstock they're an acquired taste. If a PRS with these new tuners would have been the first prs you touched and it floored you, probably you'd have liked them. That's my point:-)
i just hate the pickup switch, this feels like a slap to people who wanna change pickups, like GOSH just don't CHANGE THE CUSTOM 24 TO THESE PICKUPS id understand only this guitar getting these pickups cause it used the Pauls guitar switches and electronics system but not the custom 24 so the custom 24 doesn't get this change
You can tell even Bryan does not believe Paul's senile bullshit about the TUNERS affecting the tone....good grief, next the guy will say the guitars color affects the tone. He's an amazing guitar builder for sure, but his "tonewood-religion" has gone off the deep end into full on snake oil now. See how Bryan avoids eye contact when saying it....can tell the poor guy is forced to read a script and feels thoroughly embarrassed parroting Paul's dementia.
That guitar looks and sounds amazing
Dude that middle position sound is stellar 🤯
Love the TCI and those wing button tunners, love it!
This is the best PRS for me ❤❤❤
This is my dream guitar
Excellent!
Love my new Custom 24, the 08 is very cool. Maybe next time.

24 frets
This 🎸 is coming through a PRS amp.
Paul’s guitar’s neck is chunky. This is thinner.
Still regret selling my Brushstroke24 but finally something very similar, apart from newer TCI pickup and Pattern thin neck.
I currently have a 2006 Custom 22 with Dragon II pickups - How different tonally are these new TCI pickups...? If they are different sounding enough I would love to get a 24-08...
Anyone know if those pickup cavities are large enough to put in a traditional humbucker?
No, you can`t swap those pickups for traditional sized humbuckers....
You won't need to
You’re going to have issues with all the combinations.
If the TCI pickups sound like single coils without the hum, why the need to tap them to make them actual single coils? The appeal of this guitar to me has always been the versatility of having actual humbuckers that can be tapped to sound like single coils.
Alright. That’s the only and next one ❤

Somebody get Matteo Mancuso a PRS signature guitar please!

Beautiful and affordable..
The 24-08 was on my radar... not anymore unfortunately...... not with those mini-humbuckers at least....
