I think you are right. We would like to put data behind this idea this summer

@@jonlundgren1532 hi, below is a facebook post from the group to (Soil4Climate)
i am suggesting the author include supporting links to (RSWD) 2018. i am wondering how to best describe the conference or if there are links to the conference organizers that might be shared.
O.K Let’s try this again. I am posting here the final draft letter I composed for U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Your suggestions have improved the letter tremendously. Please read it and let me know if it needs any further changes.
      Dear Representative Ocasio-Cortez,
We are writing you on behalf of sustainable farming groups in the U.S. and worldwide to encourage you to include Soil Carbon Sequestration as a major focus of the Green New Deal. In order to reverse the increases in atmospheric Carbon levels, it is vital to capture atmospheric Carbon and prevent its release for long periods of time. The quickest, least expensive and most effective way to accomplish that is to sequester it in the soil of appropriate farming systems.
An article in the journal “Nature” in January of this year, entitled “A global agenda for collective action on soil” stated, “While there have been compelling calls for action on soils, diverse protagonists across business, governments and civil society who seek to secure soil organic carbon recognize barriers beyond their individual reach - and hence an urgent need for a cross-sectoral global agenda.” This cross-sectoral approach is especially needed in the U.S. where pesticide use is destroying the soil, insect populations on land and marine species in the seas.
Over a billion acres of land are now planted in diverse agro-forestry systems worldwide. There are almost an additional billion acres on which the systems could be applied in the U.S. But, in order for that to happen on U.S. farms, it will require a paradigmatic shift in U.S. law and in the policies of the USDA; including those concerning crop insurance, university extension, subsidies and other incentives and disincentives that now encourage practices that release Carbon into the atmosphere rather than sequester it.
In the 2007 IPCC Climate Change report, Working Group II (in Case Study 13.6 of the Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability section) suggested adapting the ancient Indigenous American agricultural system for mitigating the effects of climate change. This and other agroforestry systems, well managed pasture systems such as silva-pasture and planned grazing, and even non-chemical dependent no-till row crops systems can sequester up to three tons of atmospheric Carbon per year, on every acre at a very low cost.
These systems have been proven to reduce air and water pollution, improve soils, increase the profitability of farm families and increase food production and food security. These benefits are in addition to the sequestration of this significant amount of the excess Carbon in the atmosphere which could amount to several giga-tons per year.
We ask that you allow us to meet with you to provide documentation and that you and your associates allow us to participate in the drafting of a Soil Carbon Policy section within the Green New Deal.

Gabe Brown said he has a beekeeper working with him. But they are traveling bees and move around the country. I think they should really mark those hives and see if they have a lower colony collapse % due to the immune and health boost from being on healthy land and forage.

@@TS-vr9of I couldn't agree more. One reason that we are working in CA almonds is to try to help protect bees throughout the annual migration cycle, rather than just focusing on the summer-phase in the northern plains.

i have started to wonder if the plants might be adjusting the soil pH to meet their needs. When i do a web search all that comes up is stuff about adding acids or buffers to adjust things. like so many aspects of this regenerative awakening and seeing that everything we Know , is wrong could this be another instance of misunderstanding?!
    Has anyone looked into this?

Yes, Nicole Masters has mentioned root zones buffering when the microbes are healthy. Look at her talks on UA-cam, her interview with John Kempf. She is one of a few regenerative people who claims blueberries do not require you to acidify soil. -Kat
