Hi, I was supposed to attend the following term but because of what's happening right now, I figured that it'd be better to go next year so moved to another term. Can you advise me if homestay or renting apartment is better ? And are there anything I should look out for or be aware of when coming to Douglas ? I don't mind Douglas having a few cons, I just want to know what the cons are and know how to overcome them. And can you also tell me on how you chose your classes and some tips on it ? I'm applying for Management diploma and heading for Human Resources later btw ^^ Thank you in advance and love your videos ~
Thanks for your questions! - For accommodation, in my opinion if you are not confident of adaptation, or you don't have any relatives or friends who can help you at the first stage of arrival here, homestay is the better choice. There are a lot of differences and difficulties you may be facing, such as languge barrier, culture shock, different time zone.... Therefore, your host family may help you to overcome those things. After that, you can decide which one is better for you! - For the awareness: I think the most important thing you should aware is follow all the instructions and the schedules from college. Because, you have to complete many steps or procedures when you arrive in school as new international student. If you're not sure any information, you should contact international student office. They will guide you or help you to find the right one to help you. Also, try to attend some workshops from schools, they provide usefull information that you need to know. - About pros and cons, I think it depends on individual's opinion. For me, one of them is the school yard which is just small one in New West campus. - For registering classes, you will be assigned classes for the first semester, and will self-register from the 2nd semester. So, you dont have to worry about that. And also, there are some workshops about how to register classes, you should attend those to know more about steps by steps, and tips. - Nice to hear that you will attend Douglas College. Hope to see you soon! - If you have any questions, let me know. Be safe!!
@@JennyLuucanada Thank you so much for answering in detail, I wasn't aware that we weren't supposed to register on our own so now I'm glad I don't have to register on my own lol. And hope to see you soon too ~
I’m attending Douglas next year but recently have heard some drawbacks about this college and it gives me anxiety. Can you please answer my questions?: How do you feel about Douglas and do you attend this school just for transferring to another? Thank you!
Hi Ngan, I think not only Douglas, but also other institutions still have a lot of advantages and disadvantages. For me, Douglas is not bad, in some points it is quite good, for example: the students services or career center, even you still have to many works by yourself. And currently I'm taking courses at Douglas and will look for job after graduation in short term. For long term, I'm not quite sure now but I will if I have a chance. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope to see you at Douglas soon.

Hi! I'm attending fall term 2021. Its my first time in a foreign country all by myself, is it hard to make friends as an international student in douglas? i'm really nervous about it.
Hi Eli Young, welcome to Canada! Yes, you're right. Most of international students have the same feeling like you in their first time in a foreign country, especially during this pandamic. However, don't be stressed or too nervous. There are always a lot of supports from school and community. Just try to focus on the goal why you want to come here, make friends whenever you can, and share things with your family. That will help! We can say it's not easy to make friends at this time due to the online courses, but there are some events from Douglas that will support you to expand your connection. You can check it out from school website and its social media channels.
Hi! I’m an international student coming in fall too. I’ve been nervous about the friend thing too. However, Most classes will actually be back in person in September so I think it’ll be a lot better🥺
Hi bro, programs in Douglas College are priced on a per credit basis. For the 2020/21 academic year (starting Fall 2020), the international per credit fee for all programs is $600 CAD. One year of study (30 credits) will cost $18,000 CAD (30 credits x $600 CAD) plus mandatory student fees.
Đúng rồi em. Em có thể email bên trường để hỏi về những dịch vụ cung cấp homestay uy tín. Hoặc em tự tìm nhà thuê ở ngoài, nếu em không cần người giám hộ.
