I have 5 pea puffers. 1 male and 4 females. I find they love young ramshorn snails and trumpet snails. I do give them frozen blood worms, but they're not overly keen on them. I have introduced Neocaridina shrimp to the tank, and they feed off the baby shrimps. A fairly constant supply of live food.
I have found they are very individual eaters. If my 6 Pea's two of them don't want the blood worms and when I feed brine shrimp 2 of them don't want the brine shrimp. They all like bladder, MTS and rams horn snails. I have a shrimp tank that when I pull out some of the lower grade shrimp and they are big enough I want to do the same. Add them to the tank as well. If the shrimp are big enough they won't go for them.
@@Brfndhdhfjd good question. Most will say 20 gallons minimum. That's close. You do want groups as it spreads out any aggression. If it was just pea Puffers and Oto's I would say 4. Give them plenty of hiding places and break up the line of sight across the tank.
When I decided to do this tank I was going to get a 20 long. A 29 is just a taller version of the 20 long. Personally I think the length is more important because they are so small it's not a turn around issues and it's not really deep enough to have territories front to back. They will be more left to right. But any tank in the 20s will be more than enough area. Then I would say go for 6 Pea's 😊
Let me know in the comments if you have any questions I didn’t cover. Ill do my best to answer all your questions 😊
