    I have a 2018 Concord Coachman class C and I pull a 2014 Chevrolet 4x4 1500 Silverado with no problems.

    Just for laughs and grins,,,,, when people at the gas station ask " are you actually pulling that f150 with that class C ?",,, you could say" no, , actually the f150 is pushing the motorhome." 🤪
    Seriously though, this is a very informative video. 👍👍👍

      the emergency brake works the same as the one on a travel trailer, when the pin is pulled out of the black box is closes a switch that applies power to the breaking module. Thanks for watching!!

      @@DudeRV I have a 2004 f150 4x4 I need to tow 20 miles. It will start and idle but no acceleration due to a issue with the throttle body. Can I tow this truck with a tow strap idling and in neutral and not damage anything?

    • @DudeRV
      @DudeRV  2 роки тому

      @@A.C.71 I am not a mechanic and can only recommend that you follow towing guidelines in the owners manual. Me personally, I would have no issues pulling it 20 miles. The ideal situation would be to put the transfer case into neutral, you will want the engine running to provide power steering for who ever gets the job of being pulled. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

    Execellent towing video. Appreciated the actually video while you were towing. We have a travel trailer now, but had a class C with a towed in the early 90s. Decided no more motorized RVs for us after that. Prefer separating our tow vehicle from the RV. Also, was unable to back up our Class C while towing our car. Thanks again for all the wonderful videos

    I have a 2004 new body F-150 4x4 regular cab short bed 4.6 V8 automatic with Borg Werner 4406 manuql shift transfer case. Thinking about taking a job where id have to tow it from location to location and drive it to a different location. I have a dummy key that has no chip so even if I wanted to the truck will not start. The shift selector is left in neutral and the key is turned off. because the shifter is not in park the key can not be turned completely to the removal wheel locking position point but the power is off so the battery does not drain.

    Great information, and well presented. I have a question about highway speeds. Is there a limit on safe speeds? Lots of interstates these days are 75 to 80 mph now, and staying with the traffic is what I'm wondering about. If you were running at those speeds, how does it handle, will it damage the F-150? What speeds are you most comfortable with? Thank you again for the good information!

    • @DudeRV
      @DudeRV  3 роки тому +3

      That I am aware of, there is not a mechanical "limit" on top speed. I have reach 75/80 MPH on the 95 bypass around Austin with no towing issues. Make darn sure your truck tires are in good shape! When you get above 65/70 your fuel consumption really goes up. we average 7 miles per gallon (flat lands) average speed 65 to 70, when I push it above 70 that average drops to 5 mpg. And if pushing against a head wind it will drop even further. I have given up on staying with traffic, I would much rather have it passing me as opposed to having to lay on the brakes because some idiot makes a bad decision. I hope all of that helps! thanks for watching!!

We never went up any super steep mountain passes with this set up. Raton pass was the steepest we did. Power was not an issue but the downgrades made the tranny scream.

    If my RV has a 5,000lb limit could I still flat tow the f150?

    • @DudeRV
      @DudeRV  2 роки тому

      it will really depend on your F150 and how much it weighs. If you have a crewcab you will probably be over weight. single cab probably well under the limit.
      The 5000 lb limit, is that the receiver hitch weight limit or the actual tow capacity of the RV? check the CVWR numbers on the data plate. and then subtract the RV's weight from that number
