I thought UK played pretty good defense last night despite what TO said. They got 6 unearned points on one possession when MSU hacked a defensive rebound outta UK's hands, then their non shooting forward banks a three, ref calls a fantom foul on UK with the ball in the air and they bang another three. But if UK can play T40 defense instead of 87th, that's not too much to ask. Lamont Butler held Hubbard to 15. The defensive rebounding is why theyre Kenpom defense has slide the last month. Fix the rebounding, fix the defense!
Pope has to come to the fact that he's going to have to throw some junk defense at times to throw curveballs to the opposition. With a team filled with college veterans this could easily be executed. This was proven in the Gonzaga game. Breaking the rhythm of your opponent on offense and keep them guessing.

If TO wants to apply that same metric to any team in any sport at any level, you’d be hard pressed to find a championship contender that operates at an elite level on offense and defense simultaneously. If UK was even top 50 in defense, it might offset their offensive efficiency to the point where they wouldn’t be as competitive as they are. I’d be willing to bet that the coaching staff knows exactly what their defensive weaknesses are and are strategically working on minor improvements in areas that won’t negatively affect the team’s offensive philosophy. It has to be a give and take. Part of the reason that our offense is so potent is because the higher possession count allows them to find a rhythm more easily. The games we’ve lost have been slow, physical, grinds, with tons of stoppages for fouls. If you pay attention to our players’ response to an opponent’s shot, at least 3 of our players start to head away from the opponents basket, ready to initiate offense. Yes, we often fail to secure defensive rebounds, but we also score a ton of points off runouts and not allowing the defense time to set up.
Kinda like the same team we had last year. If we scored more than 80+ points we would win even if the opposing team had 79 points. I agree with everything that was said, including the negatives.
Miss St had bad coaching at the end of the game!
Take that negativity and shove it.We 4-0 against top 15 ,without the refs ,we may have lost one game.
Thanks Mr. Optimistic! Now you have proven that you know little about basketball! That was a goofy take dude seriously!
Per Kentucky fans all the defensive issues are the refs, all the losses are the refs, all games are super bowls. Please don't feed the animals with this shit
In some ways, it would have been better for Kentucky if they had had a terrible start to the season..There would have been MORE GRACE and LESS JUDGTEMENT for a failing team, than there is for THIS successful team, that has defied the predictions and expectations of the naysayers.
So now the Debbie Downers have to search for confirmation of their original bias, rather than enjoy this crazy, fun, and special season.
When Kentucky wins, I'm doing to be over the moon for them. When they lose, I'm going to be encouraging. No one has ever seen ANYTHING like this before. Ever. Just enjoy it.
Go cats. Peace out
