Probably the best scene in a rather cheap and unambitious (but oddly amusing) film. The music at the end and the lights in the background give it a timeless feel.
My first intro to Connery as 007. I was 10 and I remember my father saying "now THIS is James Bond" as Sean swung out over the city. I will never forget that.
That bit where he leans outwards gives me the habdabs every time! I know it's a set and that the sound effects of street-level traffic help sell it but it still makes me pucker.
That stunt was done on a sound stage, I saw in a book years ago how they made a mock up of the top there where the wires were shot into the concrete. Wish I could remember the book. It had many bond movies in it
As a 15 year old watching this on ABC-TV secretly in my and my brother's bedroom, this one simple scene fascinated us, and made us want to be Bond himself. The idea of dangling on one rope hundreds of feet in the air. Are you kidding me?
Dude.....now I know that I am not the only one out there that gets the genius of Barry with the music queue written for that scene! Thanks for noticing....
Sean Connery was getting old for James bond at this point he was doing other movies, he returned to daf in 1971 giving sum of his paycheck to Scottish charity, Connery would return as James bond one last time in 1983s never say never again which wasn't part of the eon productions James bond series
Then again he was 40 when did Diamonds Are Forever and Moore was 45 when debuted as Bond for Live and Let Die and 57 at time of A View To A Kill. Brosnan was 48 when did Die Another Day, Craig was 51 when filmed No Time To Die his final appearance as Bond to be released in 2020.
Mario Iacolucci I know that made this post before the delay was stated that would release No Time To Die in November 2020 now instead of April 10th like originally planned
Mario Iacolucci yea I plan to take my wife to it and I been a big James Bond fan since I was 10 in 1995 when Goldeneye came out. I started watching Bond films with my parents and one of my cousins who had all of Bond films up to Licence To Kill on Vhs at the time and I was hooked when we would watch them. I started collecting all of them on vhs and now have all dvd or blu Ray. I was looking forward to seeing No Time to Die in April originally it’s too we have to wait. My wife and I also plan to see Top Gun 2 this summer if doesn’t get delayed
Sort of shorten the show if he would have fell. I like how he had no idea the elevator would stop 2” short of crushing him. Trust your life to some randomly shot hook things. This is where the got the idea for Spider-Man.
live4marilyn yes it was film debut as before that he was a Model and worked as Cars Salesmen during the day. He had done some tv commercials in his country of Australia but never acted in a movie before he auditioned for James Bond at age 29 in 1968
This is what James Bond is all about, I mean; the whole scene is so smooth.
I agree. DAF forever had a lot of slick scenes that the modern viewer doesn't seem to appreciate.
@@jonburrows8602 lol settle down boomer.

I agree. I myself find myself returning to this scene again and again. It is simple, clear, no words required.

What a great scene! Best in DAF!!! And I must say, I like those old vintage Bonds much more than today's top serious Craig's movies!
Craig, who' Craig? Is he related to Sean Connery?
Better scene than any marvel movie scene
I wish they showed a scene with Q giving bond the grapple gun.
Those are some SERIOUSLY strong pitons
Bond hopes Q wasn't having an off-day when he made them.
The pitons may be strong, but Bond's nerves are stronger. I would never do that, even if I knew for sure the pitons are strong enough.

For years I rented tuxedos for burglarizing, smash and grabs, etc., before I finally broke down and just stole one.
In my younger and crazier days, I actually might have tried this, today? Nope!
Enjoyed this movie immensely not sure why everyone else hated it
Connery made a real satisfying return to diamonds are forever a chunk of his movie paycheck went to Scottish charity
Brett Lloyd he donated his entire salary for the film of 1.25 million he was offered to return to Scottish charity

Maybe the James Bond Archives?
This helps. I thought parts of it were real.

Great job ! And smooth music by john barry!
yeah i love john barry its atmosphere very similar to THE specialist 1994 with Stallone and Stone
@@cultureguide3660 absolutely mate👌
The introduction of cassette tapes lol
Ugh! I hate heights!!
But I LOVE this movie!
Same here. Bond sure has moxie!
P.s. The elevator used in this scene was from The Landmark Hotel and Casino before they took it down.
Oh dam
*2:15* I like the music that plays when starts dangling. That's what I came here for.

I was allowed to watch Bond at a younger age than 15.

The music + the Vegas backdrop had a big impression on me as a youth
@@AvoozlPlays sounds like you are talking about SAW
2:24 great scene
I get anxiety watching this
Starlight lounge to the left. Express to street level only folks. Stand clear of the doors. Here we go.
Heights make me sick and so does this stunt. And it's all done while wearing a tuxedo.
Mountaineering about outside the Whyte House. Amung other things this movie documented the old Law Vegas some.

OHMSS was Lazenbys film debut.
And needless to say, only his Bond film.

I thought he was ok and in so.w scenes from. Behind he looked like Sean Connery, the crappies James bond fir me was Timmothy Dalton.
Something that "neanderthal" lacked such as charm, charisma, suaveness & most importantly a "personality"!
I love heights and hate this movie it was so shit not to hate the fact that you only live twice was also shit
I don't give a shit what you think.
And the "neanderthal " flushed own the magnificent legacy of the franchise down the sewer!
Uber Cool. Way more macho than the Mission Imposible 4 ediphous scaling!
