- Finally, I was able to catch this vessel of Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Trans-Asia 19! She only has 1 schedule to and from Cebu from Tagbilaran because she is the regular ROPAX doing the Tagbilaran to Cagayan de Oro and vice versa.
She is 1 of the 2 brand new vessels of Trans-Asia Shipping Lines the other one being Trans-Asia 21.
She was built in Japan along with the brand new ROPAX of Starlite Ferries thus the similarities.

I miss the days when Trans-Asia had a direct service between Butuan and Cebu. Prior to their switch over to roro vessels sometime in the late 80s, their cruiser vessels managed to traverse the Agusan River and docked at their assigned port at Butuan. They eventually moved their berthing operations to Masao then Nasipit. Since they were losing money due to stiff competition by Gothong and Sulpicio, Trans-Asia eventually left the Butuan passenger market.
Wow! So they are serving that route before! Thank you for sharing! Now it is Starlite Ferries doing cebu nasipit route competing with Cokaliong. Starlite is same mother company of Trans-Asia under Chelsea along with Supercat
Chelsea is merely testing that route using their smaller ropax vessels under the Starlite Ferry flag. Despite that, it’s still good to have another company compete with Cokaliong to revitalize that nearly abandoned overnight ferry service to Nasipit.
@@jazzlovah1370 you are right Sir because they have reduced their 5x weekly service to 2x daily and opened a new route to Dapitan. Cokaliong serves 2x Cebu to Masao and daily Cebu to Nasipit. Same thoughts Sir! I hope Cokaliong will have competitor in this route they have monopolized it for a while.
I think Chester Cokaliong was already aware of what happened to the shipping traffic at Nasipit back in the early 90s when the Great Merger of William Lines, Gothong and Aboitiz occurred. He basically waited for the right time when his company was ready to expand their service routes and got the perfect timing when the other VisMin ferry operators hesitated to offer service to Nasipit. I’d say Chester is the modern day equivalent of the Go brothers, Carlos and Sulpicio Go. Bear in mind that it was the competition of these two brothers’ companies that made Sy’s Trans-Asia left Nasipit.

I recall a Trans Asia ferry that had a cabin. Good for the cost, an overnight trip from Tagbilaran to Cebu. This was roughly 13 years ago...

Hello sir, I guess Yung sinasabe mong Liloan is Yung Liloan Port which is in Santander in Cebu. Sa south part ng Cebu yun. Travel time from Liloan port to dumaguete (fast craft) is around 30-40 minutes depende sa sea conditions. Then 45 minutes to an hour, again depende sa sea conditions, from Liloan to sibulan negros by RoRo ferry (maayo shipping). Hope this helps.
Btw, Merong bus (Ceres) from Cebu to dumaguete direct. Travel time mga around 4 hours from Cebu city to Santander, Cebu.
