We went from Dakota's blatant apathy for Madam Web to the Kraven director speaking the quiet part of the truth of the Sonyverse outloud, how long till the people they hire actually tell the audience to not see the movies?
Someone needs to tell Sony that Spider-Man villains are popular because of Spider-Man. Without him, they become bland anti-heroes which they're not meant to be
In some cases yeah but like venom and madame web while they do suck, they always had the potential to stand on their own and a morbius movie was a long requested movie. Yeah Sony needs to stop but it’s not because of the lack a spiderman
Titan AE is a film 20 years ahead of its time. The fact that the film bankrupted the studio absolutely kills me. that's the harsh reality of being ambitious.
I’m sad that it pretty much forced Don Bluth into retirement. He’s such a creative artist, and he made so many good movies. An American Tail, The Secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time, just to name a few. Titan AE came out almost 25 years ago, and he’s only worked on a couple of things since.
Honestly, i rewatched it a few years ago and kinda understood why it flopped, but its still a sick movie. I love its soundtrack too, like the whole thing is so nostalgic and is a perfect encapsulation of culture around the turn of the millenium
I was obsessed with japanese culture while growing up and i always had a preference for a hand drawn artstyle like the old Disney movies instead of 3d animation, when I found Okami it felt like a game specifically made for me, it actually ignited my dream of making video games, after finishing that game all I thought was "I want to put something beautiful like into the world".
Well he mustve been hunting others befpre spiderman, or he wouldnt be skilled enough to take spiderman on. I think theres some potential to do a villain origin movie similar to Joker but idk.
Weird seeing Sonic Runners on this list. It had around 50 million total downloads and made around 260.000$ a month according to SEGA's claims in the time it was active. It must not have been expensive to produce or maintain, they definitely made a lot of money off of that.
I think it will fail upward. It will make its money back but will be regarded as a terrible movie. The sequel will be animated and will go right to netflix.
I feel like a lot of young children who don't even know the actors would easily identify that blue shirt guy = Steve. Minecraft content farms are proof of how you don't need good plot, costumes, acting, or CG to impress a child. I don't think it'll flop at all, simply given how how popular the IP is. I'm sure many will hate watch it as well.
"If you make a good movie, it is more than likely not going to flop" Dungeons and Dragons...new-ish (at least not really had a movie made about it, not in this way) but still "Flopped" in the sense that no one went to see it in theaters because of post-covid, the economy slowly getting worse and worse, and they decided to release it what a week or so before the Mario movie? Like I get you can't always predict when movies are going to be hits, but Mario was kind of obvious. The sad part is, most people WANT to see something new, but people either don't have the money anymore or refuse to try something new when you have Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ just pulling out the worst written projects, and everyone's way more cautious to spend money when they don't even know if they're going to like it...mixed in with bad marketing these days of showing just about everything going to happen in the trailer which is beyond an annoyance. I think the only way a new idea is going to actually work is if they have an incredible trailer (which makes a huge difference, look at Scott Pilgrim) or just release it on streaming since more people are willing to watch something new when they're already paying for it.
The dnd movie also came out after the wizards of the coast debacle involving their open gaming license which triggered fans to stop buying products from wotc. By the time the movie came out people still had bad feelings about dnd so they never went to watch it till later on.
15:02 What?? I loved Kingdoms of Amalur back on the X-Box 360. Even got the remastered version from 2020 on my Nintendo Switch and enjoyed that as well. I didn't realize this game was a flop.
Part of the reason it flopped is because they borrowed a lot of money from the state of Rhode Island, they were simultaneously making an MMO in the same universe, and they had a number of big names attached to the project. While it sold and reviewed fairly well, I think with all the money they put into it, they had to sell two or three times as many copies as they did in order to turn a profit.
I was shocked i didnt see the original Blade Runner. Possibly because it ended up being a hit on home video releases, probably because they would often bundle it with vcr's during the holiday season.
JC Chandor is an amazing screenwriter. He wrote "A Most Violent Year," "Triple Frontier," and "Margin Call." This statement isn't a good look though. lol. C'mon bruh.
I unironically still have a copy of epic mickey 2, however i never beat the first level since it had no save points and i had to take breaks in between playing
I absolutely loved the 13th warrior growing up, it was one of my favourite movies. Its so sad to see it on this list. Okami is also sad to see, another favourite of mine. Played that game like crazy when it released. I have like 4 different copies of it lol and a little statuette of Amaterasu.
Charlie had the list of movies in the wrong order. If you look at the rightmost column, it lists the reference number. Which are completely out of order. The #1 biggest flop is actually the 13th Warrior, the Joker is actually #62.
0:22 ya that's genuinely why im actually kinda excited for it. Looks like it could at least be entertaining. I'm just very curious what they plan on doing with this SSU(?). Setting up a weird mishmash sinister six? Are they going to team up and fight Knull?
i just don't know anyone who likes kraven or whoever he is that much. like bros like the penguin, just a random villain of the week and not even one of the cooler ones
I think Joker 2 is worse then Borderlands but that's just my opinion. Megalopolis, Night Swim and Tarot are worse too. I would also argue Madame Web is a worse movie too, but it's more entertaining in the sense of how bad it is
Hearing Sigmar Age of Ruin flopped was news to me. I made a video days before it came out and my view count is about as high as the player count. Ouch.
I’m surprised that not a lot of cult classics are on the list like Fight Club, Shawshank Redemption, The Thing, Blade Runner, or even the Wizard of Oz considering that they flopped when they came out, but later developed some kind of fanbase around them.
@ad-sd-vids5332 My bad, I thought Shawshank flopped harder. But I also thought the list included stuff like Fight Club, which famously flopped when it came out, I didn’t know the list was big budget studio blockbusters, even something like Beau is afraid which flopped pretty hard developed some kind of following.
In a world where people respected eccentric creativity and engaged in new perspectives with radical thought experiments, Megalopolis would have been loved. I wish the portion of viewers who were disappointed by unmatched expectations hadn't scared away a larger audience from seeing it and forming their own opinion. We'll complain about the state of Hollywood and then everyone goes to see the next Disney/franchise movie multiple times.
Not looking forward to the President this is going to set for movies in the future; after all why bother with complex storytelling when you can just pump out IPs with massive budgets and no plot
I actually respect the balls on the Kraven director to call out how bad the Sonyverse has been. It takes some chops to tell your boss he wasted money.
But you might loose your job in the process xD
We went from Dakota's blatant apathy for Madam Web to the Kraven director speaking the quiet part of the truth of the Sonyverse outloud, how long till the people they hire actually tell the audience to not see the movies?
@@alex_greensandNot that I think he's wrong or anything, but... Maybe don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I agree for all of them except venom, it's 100% possible to make a good venom story with little to no spiderman
They’re hoping they can give villains a backstory and change them into ANTIHEROES
I hate that i recognize that pfp
Anti-hero? Taylor swift fan making no sense

Okami being on the list hurts my soul. Such a gorgeous game with art style that ages gracefully
Loved that game. I love finding all the secrets.
Okami is one of the best games ever made. It’s a crime it’s so underrated.
unfortunately I find that games with a unique art style fail to sell well and that makes me want to cry
Okami is one of the best games ever made. But it was a commercial failure when it came out.
I can't believe Madame Web was the Bay Harbor Butcher
Do you mean precedent or Donald Trump? Your lack of correct spelling and grammar is very confusing.
Bullet Train is Aaron Taylor Johnsons best movie
I think you’re on to something there.
Bullet Train was so good. I didn't expect anything going in but it was a fun watch.
It was a lot of fun, not gonna lie. The movie deserved financial success
isn't kraven's whole thing is that he's trying to hunt spiderman? without spiderman what does he have?
Eh technically yes but really his main goal is just to hunt very strong opponents but he mostly just a Spider-Man villain
Well he mustve been hunting others befpre spiderman, or he wouldnt be skilled enough to take spiderman on. I think theres some potential to do a villain origin movie similar to Joker but idk.
A lot of the time Spider-Man is one name on a larger list (kidna like the Insomniac game)
A literal record of "mostly" money laundering
Can't wait for the Kraven movie to allude to Spider-Man non stop without ever once showing him on screen
Weird seeing Sonic Runners on this list. It had around 50 million total downloads and made around 260.000$ a month according to SEGA's claims in the time it was active. It must not have been expensive to produce or maintain, they definitely made a lot of money off of that.
How in the fuck has Charlie never heard of FF The Spirits Within?😂
Charlie defending Okami just warmed my soul for the remainder of the week
I still don't understand how Treasure Planet failed, it was such a good movie.
Disney set it up to compete against Harry Potter.
That's why it failed.
Someone needs to tell these out of touch suits that I'm oiled up and ready
Sounds like thunder every time he puts his arm down on the desk. Turn the mic down Charlie! 😂
The Minecraft Movie is a flop even before its release
I think it will fail upward. It will make its money back but will be regarded as a terrible movie. The sequel will be animated and will go right to netflix.
It’ll suck but there’s no way it’s a box office flop, bad movies can still make money
After seeing the second trailer, I at least think it's going to be fun-bad instead of just bad.

Ah, Covid. Where your film needed to be more than just okay to succeed.
Ill probably watch kraven on netflix
Hearing Kingdoms of Amalur on this list while replaying it definitely stings.
The only thing that Kraven will wash away is Sony's profits. Also, I still like Titan AE even if it didn't reap the rewards.
10:17 please to god Charlie watch Mouse Trap it may beat out the borderlands movie for you
Megaflopolis losing 124 million is wild.
Only Hollywood can fumble the bag with a money printing franchise like Marvel, DC and videogames.
Meanwhile Japan:
Hehe, anime movies go brr brr.
How Craven to say it will wash away the Morbius and Madame Webs .....
I feel bad for Lone Ranger and especially kingdoms of amalure. I really liked that movie, and love that game.

The writing bad

Pretty much no one watched Dark Phoenix since it came out right during the height of the MCU Endgame/Infinity War hype
It’s such a travesty too cause mortal engines could have been epic if they did it right
Grim Fandango was a flop?

I highly recommend The Suicide Squad, it's far better than the original one and has some actually good humor to it.

I don't "support" movies. I pay to see them and expect entertainment. What a goofy ass thing for a studio to say, like they're a charity organization.
