I’m using your channel to convince my American wife and 1/3 Korean daughter to move to Korea and it’s working! Keep up the great work. You’re channel I’d fantastically entertaining! Please do Hannam-dong.
i made a video today and went to an area you recommended in one of the comments! also, we will be going to hannam dong as it's the most requested area, we just need to find the right day to go there! i hope you can convince them to come :)
Awesome video Dan, I lived right behind the homeplus between Junggye and Hagye station and Nowon was the closest hub that I could walk home from after some drinks on a late weekend. Great to see my old stomping grounds and how much they've changed!
i'd be excited to come back to korea in 10-15 years and see how it's changed! i'm also excited to go back to england after almost 3 years and see how that has changed!
Loved the video as always Dan! You are always sharing lots of great information! We have had persimmon here in the UK, beautiful fruit but they are super hard to find! Karaoke 🎤 🤣👍👏💗👏🇬🇧 💩
@@lisacreed96 i bet they're not as expensive as they are here though. the cheeky bastards charge for them but i can pick them off any tree in the street because there's so many of them. supply and demand 101!
@@lisacreed96 yes, groceries are insanely overpriced. you can't buy a single piece of fruit or veg, they only sell it in bulk wherever you go and it's expensive, it's also pretty bad quaility compared with england.
Persimmon in UK is commonly known as Sharon Fruit - They are grown in Israel (at least originally but presumably grown in other EU countries by now), but they are not really like the asian varieties.. . In Taiwan the powder of the dried fruit and use it for dipping slices of various (tart) fruit as a dessert.
Whenever you make it to Pyeongtaek, if you need someone to show you Songtan (the westernized part of town), Goedek, or Soseobol (newer neighborhoods), let me know. Nothing outlandish here but interesting in its own right.
i went to pyeongtaek today to a childrens home to see how the charity money was spent and we stopped in songtan for some army stew!! we only stayed an hour because we didn't want to get caught in the rush hour traffic. but i will make another trip down there :)
You do have Sharon fruits in the U.K. normally imported from Spain but the soft ones that you showed you need to leave it for 1 week or 2 to become lil,e that ;
Why is there an electric wire around the perimeter of the rooftop? You can see them on other buildings when you pan the camera around the neighbourhood.
it's in case there is a fire. in all old korean buildings they have a fire escape kit. it's basially for absailing down the side of the building. you attach the harness to the wire and absail down the side of the building! crazy right
@@lisacreed96 i'm editing a video which is going to be uploaded on wednesday and at the end of the video you can see the difference between the high rise and the old!
