Sounds good Nicole!
Great information that things has to be documented.!! Take pictures and videos of everything before the drywall goes up. My first new home was 20 years ago and I took photos of the house before the drywall. I added a few things afterwards and it helps a lot when you know what is behind the drywall.
Thank you for the pleasant and calming voice during a hectic home building experience!!
Absolutely! I've gone back to those pictures and videos so many times and it's been incredibly helpful.
So sweet! Thank you.
Nicole, hired certified inspector for pre drywall, March 17. He just phoned to say the house had no code violations (whew!) He marked a couple of protective nail plates that were missing. Recommended conditioning the attic space and dehumidifying it. One exterior GFI outlet was missing, but I had already found that and asked the builder, Toll Brothers, to address it. We are 14 months in to a 19 month build. Nokomis, Florida.
So exciting for you! I appreciate all of your tips! We had the foundation poured this week and have our design center appointment on Saturday. Thanks so much for helping me get organized! There is so much I never even thought of. :)
That's exciting for you too, congratulations! Once the framing starts it seems to move so much faster, best of luck with your design center visit and I hope you're in your new home soon.
Thank your for your insights and sharing with us your journey. We seem to be on a similar timeline. We purchased our house back in early December of 2020 and recently have started the drywall stage. They told us April for closing so we hope that is indeed the case. We will continue to follow your progress.
It sounds like our wait is almost over! I hope your timeline holds, it's been so frustrating this past year but this drywall stage has me feeling so hopeful.
Best of luck for your new home!
Amazing video, we are building now in Florida with dr Horton, which I heard was a nightmare, LOL, so like said we hired a third party inspector for pre drywall, and pre closing.
Great tips and thanks for this video - my wife and I are just now building our new home...we are in the waiting process for ground-breaking.
That's so exciting, congratulations! It's a tough wait but once it starts moving it will pick up the pace.
Best of luck!
Great video. I noticed some double studs on the wall facing the outside. Was that standard?
Thank you! I'm not sure if it's standard, I did notice that along all the doors and windows we had double studs (if not a few more!).
@@nicolenieves Good to know. I have another quick follow-up question. Was the cost of upgrading from 9ft to 10ft ceilings a major cost?
It was just over $6000 for us, not cheap but I didn't think it was too much all things considered. Definitely worth it in my opinion!
Interesting. I had no idea the weight of the drywall might impact the exterior trim integrity. One day to hang cabinets, surprised.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that interesting! I was fascinated.
Wow I thought my process is long, but ur process is longer.
It has certainly been much longer than we were hoping for. I hope yours is going better!
@@nicolenieves our house got delay and will not know the closing date until cabinet is arriving.
@@zaddvang that is so tough, I feel your pain. I hope they get delivered soon for you!
5 months to build a home in my opinion is far too fast. I suppose it depends what you are building, but I'm most cases you're not going to build a quality home in 5 months.
