Let's keep it simple...this isn't even a playlist specific thing. If anyone gives you ANY "boost" on your streams, followers, views, etc WITHOUT asking you that is a MAJOR red flag, not a "good deal" as a lot of think it is. I'm not speaking on playlists as a whole...there's well-documented ways to get quality playlisting at this point. Preciate those who have come to and shared their experiences which led to an eye-opening convo late yesterday. There are scams everywhere. I've got a message on soundcloud (don't know why tf I have it anyway) from a guy who looked up my UA-cam channel and said "You've got this and that number of videos, subscribers and views. I can help you grow..." etc. For some amount money of course. First of all I ain't making no money from my music, so I'm not investing in nothing xD second - the last thing I need is empty views / plays. Keeping the traffic organic over here
Pretty sure some majors own spotify. But aside from that they work with labels don't they? As much as they say they don't accept payments from labels there is no way spotify playlists are fairly choosing songs when 99% of their playlists are label artists while the amount of submitted songs are 99.99% indie
This happened to me a while back on soundcloud. I had to remove the songs they added the fake streams to!! Shit is so corny we want actual listeners. Thanks for the heads up Sean!
I've had streams go up on Spotify playlist without any contact to me n yea it's suspicious af, the only time it happens to me is when I use the distrokid Playlist wheel .. this go deep I think the middle man is tired of paying the small artists
That Wavr,ai playlist does that same thing and your right there is nothing an artist can do about random bot playlists adding your song for a teaser boost to try to get you to pay to be on lists longer to get more plays
Hey, No Labels you all make amazing educational content and thank you!!!!I’m curious on you all’s opinions on digital distributors and how they affect independent artist as well as the pros and cons. I’m not sure if you all have a video speaking on this topic but I’m very curious and would love to understand you alls stance on such :)
so what is the appropriate step to take if your music has been added to a botted playlist? I watched the video and still not sure what action I should take

Spotify is cracking down on Indie artists as far as bots but not when the major labels do it.

Spotify deleted one of my projects because of fake streams and I’ve never paid for any type of boost or even been approached by someone. 😮

This was needed. I'll be on the lookout for these playlists.
So basically you could sabotage any artist you with want with buying them fake streams.
