  • Sandhya Raju presents her Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam's choreography of Krishna Shabdam. Presented live at Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu on 13th April 2014.
    Krishna Shabdam is a very typical and popular piece in the Kuchipudi repertoire. The young heroine is trying to beckon her unattainable hero - Lord Krishna with her charms and various antics. She entices him with her glances, smears sandalwood paste on him, prepares sweet beetel leaves and even strings fragrant flowers to garland him.
    Nattuvangam - Guru Kishore Mosalikanti
    Vocal - Smt Radha Badri
    Mridangam - Shri Hari Babu
    Flute - Shri Muthu Kumar
    Violin -Shri Shikha Mani
    Veena - Shri Bhavani Prasad

    You have such lovely expressions. My mother danced to this very piece whence I was young. As a restless child, I'm not sure if I fully appreciated the beauty of classical dance, but being older now and more well read in Hinduism, in particular our Purāṇas and Itihāsas, my heart melts when I see these performances dedicated to our Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. It brought back very fond childhood memories seeing you dance like this. Thank you for sharing this!

      @Macyhahaha. Abhinaya is the art of expression. Facial expressions in Indian classical dance and aesthetics. It literally translates to “leading and audience towards” I’m saying that her facial expressions are not good and not adhering to Kuchipudi standard and true Beauty

    • @Powerpuff772
      @Powerpuff772 3 роки тому +3

      @Macy you’re point is correct in many ways. The great Vempati Chinna Satyam Garu was the legend who created such beauty in the art. Authenticity is very hard to find nowadays. The last authentic torch barer was his son, Vempati Ravi Shankar, and now the very last is his wife Priyanka Vempati, who is containing the truest teaching of the Vempati style of kuchipudi through their school, the Vempati Ravi Shankar School of Kuchipudi. If you want to watch the REAL essence of kuchipudi and not this, type in the temple and the swan 1 on UA-cam and go to time stamp 3:14. There you will see what the REAL essence is. The legends that this lady learnt from but failed to imbibe the true essence from. Extremely sad that these are the videos that get all the views. False representation.

      It is the dance not, so really her personality. Indian classical dances have been developed over centuries ago to depict all kinds of emotions, thoughts, feelings, etc. There are movements/expressions (involving face, hands, feet, body movements) to depict various things humans experience in life - - love and coquettishness, etc. is just one such experience.

They destroyed/burnt a lot but still we have enough to learn and pass to coming generations. Its responsibility of every Indian to keep our kids connecte to the roots or we will have no future.
