Times are different now it’s not like the early 2000s if Jeremy was still a relatively new younger player coming in during the 2020s that would’ve been perfect and he wouldn’t been so discriminated upon. I’m glad though Yuki is playing in an era of a more welcoming environment.
-- i love Linsanity but yeah, 2019 JLin was 30 yo post injury. Plus he lost a step and wasn't a good shooter. At 5'8???? I hope he has a decade long career. Spud Webb played 12 years at 5'6, beast. Best season? 16ppg and 7apg.
@yamadaruss7326 - linsanity was 2012, he was like 12 in the early 2000's. Lin is also an American of Taiwanese descent and 6'2". He wasn't discriminated on any more than any other player trying to get a chance in a highly curated league where not just anyone can be granted such influence. Probably somewhat less, as china loves the NBA and also claiming Taiwan as it's own. How many players never get a good or any chance to show their skills on college roster spots let alone the NBA where something like 1.2% of NCAA players make it... Bronny James is the worst example of this corruption. It's not quite about who's best. Another roster spot taken away from a deserving player. As a laker fan, im disgusted by that 4 year guaranteed deal for a player not fit for college rosters and such a lack of effort. Due to politics and profits, a 5'8" Asian guy probably has a better chance than the same in a white or black guy if all other things the same. Him being Asian is the biggest thing saving him imo. He's too much of a defensive liability, doesn't shoot/score well and thus easier to defend if you have enough brain cells to not face guard a guy you tower over and instead stay back and play the pass. He is good for his size but it's hard to be magic Johnson when you're not a scoring threat, or 6'9". Luke Walton was a very solid passer but predictable as he was likely going to pass. I'm rooting for Yuki, but not a chance I'd sign him for basketball reasons. I'd sign him far before bronny though lol. No way I'd let LeBron dictate that bs. At 5'8, he should really be a knockdown shooter on open looks, as few as they may be at 5'8.
Nobody did Lin dirty, he peaked with Linsanity which was like a short month. He was out of the league because he was an average guard with multiple injuries past his prime. There were many better players to fill your roster with than Lin. After the NBA, when he went to China, he wasn't even playing at superstar level as expected of an ex-nba player.
He plays like the old school players and teams need more of him. For whatever reason the nba has decided you need a quarterback (LeBron James and Kobe bryant types) and everyone else can just be there to facilitate him and him alone. If you had a team full of great team players the game plan would change mid game it would just be more exciting to watch
Dude is like Kylie Irving back in Japan. But man, how crafty is he in nba. I wish he can stay a little longer this dude plays with a small body in the league but with a big heart
I love passing and ball movement, that’s why I’m huge fan of the Celtics. The way they penetrate and move. The ball is such a joy to watch, but I can see how it’s frustrating as an opposing fan. I said all that to say I really like the way he passes the ball. Passing is one of my favorite parts of the game, I hate iso ball.
Lakers, this guy is who you need so your superstars don't get injured. He makes everyone else have easy buckets. Lebron, make it happen man. Center AD, PF Rui, SF Knecht, SG Lebron, PG Kawamura. Sub him out on defense, when he's up against a shooter like Steph. If it's a guard that drives, like Westbrook, leave him in. 🙏
No point in locking him up for nearly 4 years when the Grizzlies have an open 2-way spot, Yuki still has a lot to prove and will be rewarded by the Grizzlies if he puts in the work
Players like this usually don’t last long but hopefully he can become the TJ McConell of the Grizzlies. Plays good d, is a great teammate, and is super marketable being an international star already.. should be around for at least a couple seasons.
Yuki is legit Kuroko from Kuroko no Basket with his small stature and passing, that the big bois couldn't even see where he or the ball disappear to, add on the power of being able to score by himself. Now it will be the test of time, if he can keep pulling it off every single time, or would people figure out how to stop him before he change the entire game.
Wow, 5’8” in the NBA. My 12 year old son is 5’8”, wears a men’s size 12.5 shoe and is crazy athletic (premier club soccer, competitive singles & mixed doubles badminton, track-sprinting/distance, high jump & long jump and has a hell of an arm throwing a baseball and football). I’ll have to let him know there is an adult man his height in the NBA, he’ll think that’s crazy.
I told you that I'd improve that a few videos ago had to come through on my word 😂 I also saw your comment about UA-cam unsubscribing you, that's mad weird and I know that's happened with a good amount of people who watch my content too. Super frustrating.
@getlikecoop I was still getting your vids, you're my goto for pels and rockets. This was an excellent vid, I'm excited for this kid. Looking like the grizz might have won the draft. Thanks for the content man.
Yuri never wanted to be in the NBA as he wanted to be like his Japanese idol. He only got in the NBA cause he got offered to it, and no one would say no to the NBA
He better not get the Kenneth Lofton Jr. guard version. Both of them can legit ball, just that their teams somehow don't trust them even as a bench piece 😂
man yuki isn't even that good. i've seen great pg in east asia and yuki kawamura is just average compare to some of them in the past 20 years. but i'm happy that finally nba is getting players here in east and south east asia.
The asain friend cannot be full asain. He has to be half like Jordan Clarkson, Jaylin Williams, and Christian Juzang. Keep the NBA Black and White. (I prefer All White but at least Blacks are somewhat good)
My understanding is that they had agreed in principle to a contract but didn't actually sign it until September 6th which is after his Olympic performances, I'd say that his strong international performances definitely put him on the radar of several NBA teams. But like you I'm looking forward to see what he's able to do in both the G and the NBA.
I hate when people say short king its so cringe. He's the world average so the ones that are 6"0 + are anomalies. Its not like 8 billion of us are 6"0+ to call him a short king.
