In this video, I show how shingles are traditionally railed with a knife and also make a small basket. I use fresh pine (felled the day before) as well as birch handle. If you want the shingles to be more flexible, you should soak them in hot water or, for example, inside a wet towel in a hot sauna.

Isoisä repi päreitä ja teki pärekoppia joka talvi. Muistan, että pärepuu ei saanut olla liian kylmää, ulkona pakkasessa olleet pärepuut hän toi sisätiloihin kuumaan vesisaaviin sulamaan, ennen päreidenkiskomista.
Korihan siitä tuli😊😊 itselläkin mieli tekis kokeilla joskus tehdä. Kaikkee muutakin vanhaa kun harrastan. lähinnä koneita

@@JGwoodcrafts kyllä joo ihan hyvin! Paljon tuo on kiinni että minkälainen puu on mm. onko vanhojen oksien kohdat jo tasoittunut ja onko puussa kierrettä.
@@anssih1438 Näin on. Oon huomamnu että muutaman metrin pätkä tyvestä on vaa hyvää oksatonta pärepuuta
@@JGwoodcrafts Joo tuokin riippuu puusta. Viimesimmässä puussa ihan tyvi oli kasvanut sellasille muhkuroille, joka näkyi päreissä pahoina kierteinä. Siinä paras osa oli noin 2-5m tyvestä. Muttamutta, se täydellinen puu on vielä löytämättä.. 😄

Thanks! Green and not frozen is easiest! If you can keep the tree in hot water or something like that it would be easiest.
@@JGwoodcrafts that’s what I was thinking. I will let it soak for a while and try that. I was a carpenter and tried carving a little over the past few years then retired right when the pandemic started and picked up carving on a daily basis. I really love it. Tuota puuhaa pitäs joskus alkaa opetella vielä. Hyvä että tämmösiäkin videoita putkahtelee, kun ei tästä oo ku muutama vuos, niin aiheesta ei tuntunu löytyvän nettimaailmasta mitään tietoa ku etin. No menikö siinä puol vuotta, niin joku päretyövideo ilmestykin. Koivusta kiilatki tuli tehtyä, mutta niin se vaan jäi homma myöhemmäks.. Mukava se ois tuoki taito opetella.
Jepjep aika salapoliistyötä tää on kun yrittää vanhojen videoiden perusteella opetella näitä. Toisaan puukiilat ois ollu hyvät tässä hommassa!
Itse olen löytänyt hyviä käsityövideoita venäjän karjalasta , puhuvat jotakin suomentapasta kieltä jotkut heistä ja p taitavin hirsirakentaja kirvesmies löytyy Andrey Pereberin youtube kanavalta , leppoisa venäläinen vanhanajan taitaja .
