    Can't believe I'm nostalgic for this era of Magic already.

    Great video! This really takes me back. My roommates were trying to coerce me into playing magic with them around this era of the game. Didn’t get into it fully until Guilds but it’s a trip to hear card names that were new and exciting when I was first learning. Looking forward to future videos!

    5:31 "He's looking at Hazzaret thinking 'What would you do?'" was peak commentary

    I see hazoret, I click
    I love her so much I have a functional (even strong) hazoret edh deck.

    Awesome job. I still remember these decks fondly. I remember winning my FNM 6 weeks in a row using a Rakdos build after the Ramunap ruins got banned. No one expected Red to still be so deadly!

    Holy shit, didn't realize this was a 500 view video until after it was done, gonna go share it, quality like this needs recognition
    Can't say if the new Hazoret will be good, really depends on if the new mechanic she is tied to works out

    I started playing standard during that era, from 4c saheeli + mardu vehicles. So this format will always be in my mind. Hazoret was an amazing card, I had a playset of invocations for it. I ofc sold 3 of them and kept 1 just before rotation and it is a beloved card for me. I don't think the new Hazoret will be as good, but I am imaging it in a burn package with many burn + punishing cards and it should be quite good.

    Fun video , def loved all the fg music in the back ground. I enjoy playing the theoros Gods in edh as big dumb blockers, video convinced me to try out hazoret

    I allways liked more how Theros Gods worked on the "I'm here but not actually" mechanic that magic gods had, not fighting by your side until you show enough devotion but Amonketh was allways most weird, that guy comment on "You are not worthy of my help... but i will pilot your Ferrari dude" is funny to say the least.
    And now that Aetherdrift strikes and Amonketh Champions are a team is like Wizards saying "yeah we know about that ludonarrative disonance but at least now the joke is intentional"

    • @LightningBoltYtube
      @LightningBoltYtube  2 дні тому +1

      I do agree that the devotion mechanic is great flavor, but I do also think the Amonkhet gods get to have more individuality with different conditions! Hazoret's flavor is a bit more in the style of "throw away everything else and believe in me" :)

    I think new Hazoret has a chance to potentially be decent in standard. It's gonna be rough to drop her on 2 and miss an aggressive turn, but her ability to crew almost any vehicle and enable max speed with her ability could make for a decent rakdos vehicle aggro deck

    • @LightningBoltYtube
      @LightningBoltYtube  2 дні тому

      I also think the new Hazoret could actually be playable because getting Max speed is not as slow of a process as you'd initially think, her ability is pretty good and if there's any good vehicles to go with it it could be worth it.

    Shaping decks, defining an era, and leaving Rampaging Ferocidon to die for her crimes lol.

    And now she's a 2 mana unplayably bad joke in Aetherdrift. Or not. Time will tell.

    • @YaGirlJuniper
      @YaGirlJuniper 3 дні тому +2

      Here's the thing. If you play her on turn 2 and have something else to swing with, you hit 2 speed. By turn 4, you can hit the opponent with burn and now she can attack as an indestructible 5/3, so a perfect target for Monstrous Rage, and yet she only costs 2 mana. Before then, she can tap for 1 and make something unblockable every turn, so you will almost always get damage through until she comes online and becomes a huge threat, and if she gets removed anyway, any new Hazorets will have haste.
      I think Godseeker Hazoret will be even better than the previous Hazoret, as her toughness does not matter except when it comes to blocking trample, but her low cost matters a lot and makes her very usable in red aggro decks. You can use her to push a double strike mouse past a 6/6 blocker or a Glissa even if you don't have monstrous rage. Yes, she dies to Nowhere to Run, but you can save her with Monstrous Rage, and if they do hit her with it when she's not one of your attackers, that's good for your damage. You can save any other Hazorets for last once your speed is high enough to make her a haste attacker. And for this Hazoret, once she comes online, you can't take her offline again. She will be an attacker and a blocker for the rest of the game at that point.

      @YaGirlJuniper she also dies to exile based removal too. The End and Tear Asunder answer her pretty cleanly

      @@danthewafflelord3059 The bigger problem is Anoint to Affliction IMO, but I guess we'll see because we won't have any idea as to how it plays until the set comes out.
