    What if you have some older thicker canes and don't see any nodes. If you clip too far above a node, will that node not grow ?

    Wont the small twigs grow thicker this year?

    This is a very useful video lesson. Nicely crafted production, too.

    Hi, is there any legit method of pegging the hybrid tea roses to get more blooms. My roses are really tall and after pruning it only grows from upper side

    Do you have to put wax on the ends that you cut?
    I notice when you buy a new rose they come that way. Let me know please.

      Dean Jagger I've noticed that too!!

      Hi Dean - You do not have to put anything on the end of the rose cuts, just cut at 45 degree angle w/ clean pruning tools and let heal on its own!

    Hi I live in PA I just bought a hybrid tea rose. When should I prune like this? Do I just do it in the spring and not have to worry about doing it again till next spring?

      I would contact the Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program, they would be able to give you resources and advice based on your specific area. The pruning times in Calif. most likely are much different! extension.psu.edu/plants/master-gardener

    Hi I have hybrid tea rose bush whenever it flowers it weighs down. Any advice to get my roses stronger

    • @UCMasterGardeners
      @UCMasterGardeners  6 років тому

      Hi Chelseah, It could be typical to the variety of rose you have chosen or how they have been pruned or even their age. If the branches are slender and bending a more drastic pruning may need to be implemented. Drastic meaning, taking more pruning cuts next year to make the stalks less leggy and more thick and strong. I'm not sure of your fertilizer routine or your soil however using a too much fertilizer can cause excessive growth and weak stems. Hope this helps!
