Love the fake out of the first boss. Not gonna lie, didn't even know there was a sequel to salamander, but definitely looks like a great addition to the shoot em up collection. I've been playing Cybernator/Assault Suit Valken on SNES recently. Love those 80s/90s mech styles from back in the day. Recently I also dug up my Xbox 360 and its games to replay some of that stuff soon. Saint's Row, Crackdown, Gears of War and a bunch of others to look forward to. Anyways lol, hope your spring is going well, man! Love to see what catches your mood to play lol
I always forget about that first boss somehow lol. Those are some great games you mentioned for sure. The 360 games especially bring back a lot of memories when it was first released. Hopefully you can get your game on and enjoy some of those retro games. Ill put up some more vids on what Im working on soon...hopefully. Thanks again!
The thing love about bullet hell games are the background art. From Gradius to Raiden to Darius series all fun to see what they will come up with next.
Such an amazing sequel - The original is still my all-time favourite Konami shooter - regardless, I was blown away by Salamander 2 and I still play it now and then as it's included on the same disc for the SEGA Saturn.
I used to play through Life Force Salamander on NES with my brother over and over. The graphics, music, it was perfect. I love how I instantly recognize all of that in this game. Seeing the first boss from the first game here getting eaten by a bigger boss is hilarious!
Awesome! I have an arcade board that Im working on but waiting for parts before I post a repair vid on it. Hopefully it will get back up and running again.
I had no idea there was a sequel, but man does this look good! Random question, but did you ever grab anymore AES carts past those few you got in 2014 or so? Are you still around 60 or 70 carts? I got back into AES again but I just have a NeoSD and it just doesn't feel right to me. There's something about having the actual carts as you know, but man I just can't justify buying AES carts lol.
@4:27 Hope you could do "Bike Riding in Japan" videos again Doc Luke. Incidentally didn't this first vertical shooter level kinda made you think of the Total Solar Eclipse?
oh man love me some salamander 2! I did play a little bit of it in MAME, it was quite fun! I'm sorely tempted to track down the salamander deluxe pack on saturn so I can have it that way. (I forget if I mentioned but found an amazing deal on a JP saturn and a handful of games, been collecting a little bit for it here and there, like I have detana twinbee already) these gameplay vids are always a fun watch.
One of these days I'm either going to build or buy a control box like that, but more than likely I'll go the MAME route because arcade boards are just too damned expensive these days.
Awesome gameplay vid Luke! I'm gonna see if I have that ROM on my MAME cab & "play some of that." On a different subject, can you recommend a good cheap ROM burner? I need to burn/reburn some ROMs for Durango/Vegas 777 PCBs.
Poor Combo AV..re animated and abandonned again.. I was more on R type, cotton style shmup. I will test it on my arcade with mame tonight. Maybe a new love story.
Bro you need to do a new room tour video! It's been ages since the last one :) those kind of videos are like a comfort food to me :D
Man you’ve got a lot of great games!
Thanks man. I have quite a few I've never done videos on as well so I`ll try to put them up when I can
1996! They took their sweet time to get the sequel in!
A whole decade
Nice to see you back doing some gameplay again. Salamander is always a great choice. Love the music. Need to put this in my cab soon again too! 😅
Salamander is one of my favorite games, especially on MSX.
Gradius+Salamander were my favorite nes shmups. Salamander 2 was only available in Salamander Deluxe Pack for both Saturn and PSX but only in Japan.

Always love the videos Luke. Always a joy to see when you upload.
Great game I have it for my Sega Saturn, have you any repair videos coming up?

Looking forward to seeing it
Oh heck yeah, a brilliant update to the original Salamander.

Is that a Ver. 1 or Ver. 2 GX board? Apparently the two are interchangeable; the Ver. 2 has denser ASIC integration (fewer chips) and runs cooler.
I have always wondered: is this small flat screen fully support 15KHz video or do you pass the supergun output from some kind of scaler?
I am terrible at the Gradius family of games but still enjoy them.
The first PCB I ever bought, I've taken it a few times to the Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show

Hello Luke!
Salamander 2 looks more like a remake than a real sequel..... but I love it !
Thanks for the demo, my friend!
Oooh! Haven't done a Luke ride Along in a while. That'd be fun.
Awesome! ❤

Interesting. I hope Konami can pull its head out of its ass and start selling some of these later games in arcade collections.
Awesome game 😊 an arcade sandwich 🥪
More bike ride videos?
