just fyi can save your life or your family, New bee keepers and surprisingly lots of "master" keepers don't know is that if you are not stung enough, around once a month should be good, you will build up the wrong antibodies and overtime a sting can and will become fatal. This goes for all family, children and wives who do not handle bees and get stung are at serious risk. 1 in 100 people are allergic, but 1 in 10 keepers family are allergic.

I been a beekeeper for 25 years now and I still enjoy what others have to say and what they have learned in beekeeping , even though I been doing this for a While now you never stop learning something new , I really just love listening and learning what others have discovered and share , I feel for those bee keepers who think they know better than everyone else , I think they haven’t learnt a thing when they have that mind set , expanding your knowledge from others no matter how small it might be makes you grow at being better at looking to your bees in a different window and approach at caring for them , though this video was years ago I still enjoyed it today in 2023 ,thank you. 👍

Great teaching video Michelle Carter. You can tell by the way you talk about the bees that you have a real love for them. I've always , even as a child had a love for all insects but, especially for bees. I never got stung by them as I looked into their hive. Of course, that's not possible now a days with the invasion of killer bees. Thanks for your great video, hope to see more from you.

If I had to guess at the downvote, the term "cosmic forces" probably turned some people off. I understand that bee's are intimately connected to the Earth and its natural rhythms, but talking about cosmic forces and biodynamic "leaf days, or root day, or flower day, or ecplise", I mean...what does that mean? Michelle seems very smart with a lot of good things to say, but there comes a point where naturalism like that isn't useful but added superstition

This is the most entertaining & informative Bees 101 video I've seen. Michelle Carter displays obvious respect & love for pollinators. Most other videos are aggressive opinions by keepers that seem to have an apiary to simply keep other people away.

Most videos are fragmented and incoherent (and mostly talk about the honey production part) but this class gives me an actual idea about the real questions, i as a potential beginner, would have. Thank you so much. As i expected, this is a costly hobby and i'm not sure if i could do it right this moment but at least i have a good idea about it now. My neighbor always has 2-5 hives so i get to poke him with questions as well. :)

    My grandfather was beekeeper.
I wanted to get into beekeeping for a long time untill one day bee swarm landed in my driveway.
I scooped them up and put the in the box.
Next day I purchased bee hive from Tractor Supply.
I learned a lot about bees in very short time through internet and UA-cam.
I had them since September. I just added another deep.
Queen is laying good and bees producing lot of honey.
I see about 6 frames of brood but no drone cells.
Is that something I should worry about, or it just too late in season and they just determined that they don't need them?
By the way, I live in Florida so we don't get to many freezing days.
Should I worry about moisture and over winter them like they do up north?
