A few other tech-related thoughts as I'm just starting to get involved in this:
    1. New ground tent technologies/designs. Things like the Gazelle tents and similar designs make setup and teardown of a ground tent so much faster and easier than before. You don't need the high dollar roof top tents or truck cap/tents or an offroad trailer to have a quick and easy camp setup. They've been out for a while, but still worth a mention.
    2. The new trend in devices/chargers for portable power stations that charge directly off the battery/alternator of your vehicle. This allows the power station to charge much faster than the 12V plug normally allows and, generally, faster than solar would unless you're toting around a lot of panels that takes up a lot of space and requires you to be stationary during daylight hours. These are generally also cheaper than solar panels, and some (Pecron, for example) are compatible with multiple power stations depending on what charging inputs/connections they have. I can foresee this replacing much of the need for custom lithium batteries, charge controllers, inverters, etc. with a much cheaper and simpler setup in the interior of your SUV or bed of your truck while also allowing you to take a different power station with you depending on your needs on that trip (and free up space/weight for other things).
    3. Lastly, new vehicles. One of the reasons I chose to get a hybrid Tundra was the fact that this offers the potential for some interesting electrical power setups connected to the 12V car battery which is typically maintained by the truck's onboard battery tender using juice from the engine and/or hybrid battery. Brad over at Trail Recon is considering the same thing but with his new Land Cruiser (and deeper pockets than me). Bigger picture, some manufacturers are starting, finally, to seriously look at vehicle-based travel and camping as a market segment. The new Tacoma has a Trailhunter trim that is much more interesting than the TRD Pro and is a hybrid with a snorkel, lift, and larger tires from factory. Ford's Raptor Ranger seems to be a great platform to build upon as well, and Chevy has the ZR2 Bison Colorado in the same category. And, of course, the EV trend may eventually pay off with new and interesting packaging of the vehicles, novel uses of that tech, etc.

What is that Pecron kit for charging power stations? I have a Bluetti AC180 and was considering going to a 200 amp hour setup, but if I can keep the AC180 it would save me the hassle since I would have no clue how to wire up a dual battery setup.

Agreed and great points. I’m curious about the 12 volt direct charging for power stations too. Although, I’m sure you could easily wire something up with an appropriate sized wire and plug for your power bank. Good thinking!

@@AllThingsOverlanding You certainly can do it yourself, and lots of people have, but this is a self-contained box that includes connections with a fuse and a regulated output that has built-in low voltage protection settings like a 12V fridge does. It's much more plug-and-play and the most difficult part is running the cable from the battery to the back wherever you plan to charge/keep your power station. In the Tundra, the 12V battery is under the rear bench seat right next to the hybrid battery, so the wire run is in the cab and only a few feet (at least how I plan it for now). If I get some sort of a bed cap, I could drop it out of the cab and back up through a drain hole or whatever in the bed (haven't looked at those options yet).

@@bwmooney That sounds way easier than DIY, :D. Have a link to the thing you're talking about? Thanks!

@@AllThingsOverlanding Look at the Tinkers Adventure video for his DC-DC Convertor. Its a much easier solution than things like Ecoflow's new take on it.

I agree on the social media. Deleted my X account earlier in the year, and I really want to delete my Facebook account but the Facebook groups feature keeps me around for local off roading or car specific groups. Other than that I just have my Instagram for sharing my trips and vehicle updates. For apps I use Trails Offroad to get specifics about a trail I might want to run, and I use GAIA for longer trip planning and to keep a database of all the trails I have been on.

Definitely wish I could get rid of a lot of social media too, haha. I haven't used Trails. I do like OnX and Gaia though.

@AllThingsOverlanding I like Trails Offroad because of the step by step way points with photos, camping info and user reviews.
