I've had this, I love me a good Port Askaig, although my favorite of all time is the 100 Proof (EU version)
Just a stunning drop for the price, and so easy drinking for the ABV although the taste is so full.

Yes, here we have the 110 proof (US release) which we reviewed S4 E25...very robust pour iirc. We also just got Batch 1 of the PA Cask Strength series...hoping to try it (come on Randy!). Cheers!

Great episode and education. PA has been know to source also from Laphroaig and even Bunnahabhain. They do mostly source from Caol Ila. I do have a bottle of Port Askaig 18 - a limited US release - that I’ve been eager to open for a while and figure it out. Some people out there that have tried it seem to think that it might be Bunnahabhain Stoisha. I’ll let you know once a find out hopefully in the near future and “Before we die!”

Keep us posted on that 18...I stand by my hints of a Laphroaig in this release, though it is most likely a Caol Ila. The more we find out and experience 'Before We Die' the better! Cheers mate.

Thank you again for sharing your wisdom and insight. I have heard many people say that would be a great summer pour or this I prefer on a crisp fall evening. Few, actually very few, explain why they say that. Some do say that since it is lighter on the palete, it would be nice in the summer.
However, you guys have given a scenario that might be in any season, why a certain whisky would be perfect for a certain situation. You have paired this Port Askaig with certain weather conditions and with a certain cookie. I would like to see other whiskies paired with weather conditions or social events.

Right...Food pairings are very easy to understand, but we should also be pairing our whisky with people, events, weather, and emotions. The enhancement of all of the above can be measurable. Cheers and Thanks!!🥃

    Nice review guys!
    Good stuff IMO
I drink scotch whisky for 30yrs now and I never heard somebody complaining about cloudiness of it’s whisky
it’s IMO only the industry speech to justify their leveling operations and make it easier to drink Cheers 🥃

Thanks! Very good point, any experienced drinker will welcome the cloud...I can see a 'noob' wondering why their whisky is 'cloudy' if it is served to them on ice and cloudy. Thanks again for noting this, I have also never heard a 'cloud' complaint. Cheers!

When you guys sit down at the bar and aren’t recording a video, what are you guys usually sipping on? One of the bottles you already have cracked open or are you going back to a few old favorites? I know you mentioned once a bottle is gone you don’t replace it, but didn’t know if that only applied to the dusty bottles or all bottles

The open shelf here has @ 100 bottles +/- at any given time...so we continue to drink the bottles we open. Occasionally we find such a spectacular bottle that we do buy another one to drink...The Wolfburn Langskip, The Ardbeg Perpetuum, Glenmorangie Signet all come to mind and repeat buys. And, of course, friends bring bottles over as well. Cheers mate!

Absolutely love you guys and I'm a complete noob to Scotch can you recommend a Non Peated Scotch for the Holiday season? I was thinking Bunnahabhain but was hoping you guys could throw a couple names out.

Go for the Classic Laddie, 50% takes water well & very nice for a summer nights sip + Bourbon drinker friendly.

I recently (re)had the Bunnahabhain 12 and had forgotten all about it and how good it was. Rediscovered it in a blind taste test and was presented with what I would describe as a sea salt chocolate covered almond.

The below comments are spot on in relation to an un-peated Isaly of HIGH QUALITY!...if you were thinking of a nice Holiday tasting un-peated whisky from a different region...I might suggest: Wolfburn Langskip S3 E7, or Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 1 (2 has just been released but there are still 1's on the shelf) S4 E43. Cheers!

@@TBWD May I ask where you order from online if you do. I just went to the main stores around me and they didn't carry any Wolfburn or Lochlea. they did have Laddie and Bunnahabhain. The 2 you suggested sparked my interest.
